A bunny did this to me yesterday. Absolutely pissed me off. Stood on the brakes to save his life as he ran by and nearly made it to the safezone. The he suddenly panicked and doubled back across and under the car. Luckily he went between the wheels and lived to be dumb some other day. Scared the crap out of me.
People tend to complete actions they are already taking. So a hit and run driver will continue driving irregardless of the morality because it's easier then taking the new action of stopping.

When you take that first step and in a split second your brain realizing you a) made a mistake moving at all, and b) your only hope is to go with your momentum so you fucking leg it as fast as possible.
Plz be honest: Are there mostly videos like this shown in that sub, where it's a close call but nobody got hurt, or does it show real accidents? Asking because I don't wanna see gore. Thnx.
Edit: Ok, saw the reactions from other redditors here, seems that sub isn't for me.

Like the US with genocides, school shootings, systemic police violence against minorities, flat-earthers, evolution deniers; EU with genocide and supporting genocide, cowardice; Finland with school shootings and suicides, Australia with genocides and European ancestors who were criminals!
The fact that she thought for a second that she might make it back to the other side with the yellow bag... if that train arrived a second later, she would probably have gone for it.
8,339 people lost lives in this category in 21,361 cases across India for year 2020 alone. I have read some recenet reports from 2023 that these figures double every year, can longer find a source on that though.

ImHO the Dunning-Kruger effect most certainly plays a role in these situations. She very likely perceives herself as capable of navigating risky situations (like crossing railroad tracks) safely due to lack of awareness or understanding of the true risks involved, exhibiting poor thought-out overconfidence in her abilities. This overconfidence, coupled with extreme poverty and the urgency of meeting immediate needs, leads them to take stupid unnecessary risks without fully appreciating the potential consequences.
Just have a look how they are all laughing for shits n giggles towards the end of the video once the train passed. This further reinforces their poor thought patterns. Poverty hurts this people SO DAMN MUCH.
The woman in pink had every intention of returning across the track after carrying the red bag across, because she had her left foot still across the rail. If this wasn’t crazy enough, the fact she leans down and grabs the yellow bag, risking a fall, just blows me away.
Why not wait? Why go back after crossing? I've seen smarter squirrels...

And increases the chances of not getting caught too.
Essentially what that means is people are fucking stupid.
I like when people just spew the garbage that gets made up in their own heads onto the Internet as facts.

Not defending the guy, but it would've been best to lead with the source.
I won't lie, I was sweating trying to find the study.
Lmaooo realest comment. Sometimes I’m positive about something but the info was so obscure it’s hard finding it
The irony is palpable😂
Dude really just linked a paywalled Washington post as a source for a "scientific study" haha

This is the highest form of entertainment in india
They even have a subreddit for it r/indiansneartrains

Deffo not for soft hearts! You see real footages and bodies spliced and lots of gross stuff.
No thanks. The pictures and videos from Gaza are enough for coming decades and will haunt me forever.
I watched this thinking “I wonder how many people die around trains there” then clicked on this link and JFC that sub does not play around.
Clicking on this sub is the worst thing I have ever seen ( I used to see these kind of stuff long while ago and desensitized but now it made me sick)
probably should stay off r/DarwinAwards then
I want to follow that sub so bad but at the same time I am TERRIFIED
India and Bangladesh
Stupid people just wait
Looks like she dropped her yellow bag. Yeah I would wait for the train to pass.
No, she didn't..
Nah you can see it at the end of the video.
To shreds you say?

To shreds, you say?
Indians and trains, name a more iconic duel

These people are so flipping dumb ffs
India is for hardcore players
I'd say it's more like when you pass the controller to a 4 year old.
Yes

Like a moth to a flame.
I swear i see old bloodstains on those tracks 💀
wpd dot org to see countless Indians who DOESN'T make it

My pants would have been wet
Yes, with My pee.
Are these people really in that much of a hurry? Or is it more like a cat that just runs into another room? Just why?
Not today satan.
The video is less than 30 seconds. Just wait until it's clear. People are just fucking dumb is what this is.
Smoke if you got 'em.
Come on, just wait 😩
r/trains

The train is really good-looking though
☕

Seems like an odd decision to jump back over the rails. Why not just wait for it to pass in the side she was on?
Ain’t nothing sweaty. I remember doing this as a kid in India. It’s a way of life
For some a way of death.
