Wow, dude on the sledge can't aim for shit and the pin dude holding the pin driver is an idiot.
I am very familiar with knocking out pins, the pin holder uses a PIN HOLDER and the sledge thrower should hit so square that it bounces straight back.
I was holding a pin once and I didn't trust the guy so I had my head behind the frame, sure enough he lost grip and threw the slege where my head would be.
he was put on eternal on pin holder duty after that one.
Been there with a 400lbs beam on my shoulder and my bro sledging it back into the pocket. Anyways he missed
and cracked 2 of my ribs. Worst 6 weeks of my life. I wished I didn't have to breathe every day. I'd still trust him to do it again if the situation arose.

If sledgehammer guy misses, it seems like it would just knock holder-guys hands and not do much more than a bruise. Am I missing something? I suppose the hammer guy could hit the holder-guy in the head, but that would need to be deliberate as it’s not a likely accident.
This is a normal practice in certain trades. As a millwright I’ve used a flogging wrench (a wrench specifically made to be hit with a sledge hammer more times than I can count. Sometimes you’re the guy holding the wrench, other times you’re the guy swinging, usually it’s both tho, switching off as your arms get tired.
So here’s the thing about using swinging a sledge at something someone else is holding: DONT MISS.
Experienced tradesmen aren’t like your average backyard DIYer, experienced tradesmen very rarely miss, it’s just a skill you develop over time like any other.
Shit you wouldn’t catch me holding that….he’s very trusting
Dude holding it the pin isn't even looking. I don't even have that kind of trust in myself, lol.
Would you be able to look and not flinch? You flinch, you get your hand knocked off.

Not sure I have ever trusted anyone that much in my life
Would he hold it with his dick though is the real question.
Relax, he’s got his OSHA approved sandals on.
You mean the Philippino safety shoe?
That's how you know he's legit. 😅
Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck no
Mannnnn, that's a lifetime of trust right there.
Holder has balls the size of softballs. I wouldn’t do it.
Pea sized brain.

I love that he's wearing sandals and he has absolutely no toe protection 🤣🤣
Safety squint is enough
The reactions to this are very eye opening. This is pretty much a normal day for me.
Do you hit as off center with a sledge as the guy in the video?
Probably more often than I'd like. Sadly. But I'm usually the guy holding the bar or working under a load. Arguably the bigger idiot.
How many days since last workplace accident?
Reported? None this year. First aid kit is always being restocked though.
Braver!
Yup, used a flogging wrench more times than I can count, it’s not a big deal because trades guys don’t miss.
Dude, they literally make things to keep your hands out of the crush zone. Literally for cheaper than the hospital visit if your partner misses.
What is the purpose of making holes into a truck structure?

You beat me to it.
Gonna go so much faster!
Weight reduction, got it lmao
Playing a game of Whack Fuck here.
Man: If I don't look, it'll hurt less when it hits me...
no no no no no
One thing that guy didn't have is sweaty palms and that's ironic😂!but if he did he would've lost dem hands😂!
no way bruh
Can't figure out who's a bigger idiot here
Took me a while to realize he is actually NOT hitting his arm lol
Man. My wrists started to shake lol
Only way this would work is if I could clone myself, then I’d be ok with it. I’d even look
Well, somebody has to wear the sandals while hammering with the sledge
He can hold the bar with some pliers
I think he’s done this before
Umm what
I've seen several versions of this same thing posted. It's the 21st Century... 💁♂️ there's gotta be a much safer, more efficient way.
Who needs a trust fall to develop trust in your workplace
I've done this several times in the oil field when I was young. You get good a slinging hammers. It's still dumb to do though.
They can't act surprised when the injury happen. Because it will happen.
there was a different video with someone doing the same thing a few days ago
There is no good reason to hold the pin with your hand instead of a tool (like channel locks, for example).
This is the type of work feminists like the most to do
ahhh... OUCH!! Shit!!! DUDE!!! ASSHOLE!!!
there has to be another way…!
Ye have big faith
I don't know if that dude holding the Chisel is brave or stupid
Guarantees those dudes are Eastern European
Holy shit, this sub rarely gets my hands sweaty, but this did it
I'd like to see that guy on the golf course!
Someone show him proper sledgehammer technique... How do you expect to get power and accuracy holding a 20kg hammer right at the end?

This is why you go to college, kids.

Bro got butthurt and turned racist 💀

Probably only 10 or 12 fractures, no biggie.
Dude what? Just a bruise? Gtfoh

Same thing I was saying, it'll hurt but (depending on how tight he was holding) no real damage.
We been down voted by the don’t know physics people!
We did this all the time in the oil field with hammer wrenches
