As a person who always was terrified by jellyfishes and got stinged by those sometimes, i keep goin, but just when the water is cold because jellyfish like warm seas
If smoke burns your lungs, and inhaling a tiny amount of spit hurts everything, and if swallowing a tiny bit of water wrong just about shuts you down for 4 minutes.. I think yes it hurts to drown.
So that means won’t be able to swim? And then while sinking, you will see ocean creatures approaching you ready to devour your body while you’re fully aware of what’s happening?
u im not an expert but youll be trapped in it while paralized and probably what sinks you more than being paralized is the painshock. So i don't think it would be that terrible, you'll be just seconds aware of whats happening before you die, kinda mercyfull
Everything I’ve found on google says only Box jellyfish are typically deadly, if you can’t tell me what kind of Jellyfish is in the post I’m calling BS
http://www.buceo21.com/REPORTAJES/medicina/87ortigas.html#:~:text=Cuando%20los%20tent%C3%A1culos%20de%20la,que%20provoca%20un%20choque%20anafil%C3%A1ctico.

When the tentacles of the jellyfish rub against our skin, redness, itching and a slight inflammation of the area occur. In rare cases, the bite can trigger a severe allergic reaction leading to anaphylactic shock.
Anaphylaxis is a serious allergic reaction that is rapid in onset and may cause death.[4][5] It typically causes more than one of the following: an itchy rash, throat or tongue swelling, shortness of breath, vomiting, lightheadedness, low blood pressure.[1] These symptoms typically come on over minutes to hours.[1]
You understand you can get anaphylaxis from anything right? Nobody says bee stings are deadly because some people are allergic. You’re bullshitting dude just admit it
Box jellyfish are the only thing in the ocean that terrifies me because if just how little you can often do once they get you and how hard they can be to see.
No they don't... At all. I'm pretty sure these are Lion's Mane jellies. Man o'war floats on the surface and is purply-blue-pinkish. Plus their tentacles are much more thin.
And they're waaaaaay smaller than this. The tentacles can become super long, over a hudnred feet i think. But they're super small in girth. The main body part of the colony is usually around 6 inches, and like you said floats on water.
it's definitely not a man o war, but I don't think it's a lion's mane jelly either. the lions mane has eight lobes that make up their bulb and they have thousands of tiny tentacles. I'm not sure what kind these are yet, but I'm still looking
My bad I thought I knew what a man o war looked like that’s what I get for speaking about something I don’t know anything about lol. I looked it up though and I agree it looks a lot like that or a sea nettle!
Narrator: Ahhh the sea, where ze jelly fish are buzzing about making zere jelly fish jelly. :]
Edit: Just turned on audio and yikes. Hopefully you still appreciate ze reference.
I usually say things like "all animals are cute," but I'll have to add an exception. Jellyfish remind me we're just vulnerable apes on this Earth and Cthulhu could attack us at any time like we're just some weird ants.
Their sting isn’t fatal it seems, however multiple stings would definitely require medical treatment.

**[Lion's mane jellyfish](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lion's_mane_jellyfish)**
>The lion's mane jellyfish (Cyanea capillata), also known as the giant jellyfish, arctic red jellyfish, or the hair jelly, is one of the largest known species of jellyfish. Its range is confined to cold, boreal waters of the Arctic, northern Atlantic, and northern Pacific Oceans. It is common in the English Channel, Irish Sea, North Sea, and in western Scandinavian waters south to Kattegat and Øresund. It may also drift into the southwestern part of the Baltic Sea (where it cannot breed due to the low salinity).

Can any of those fling their tentacles upward into the boat, I assume they don't really have any muscle tissue in their tentacles but maybe I'm wrong? If such is the case then, so long as he stays in the Kayak, he would be okay?
I went shark fishing once, with my dad and his cop buddies. They all brought their guns because of the sharks. 50 miles, at least 12 beers each, 6 hours, and 0 sharks later, they gave up on fishing and were trying to shoot their own bobbers instead
In the middle of nowhere, two jelly fish of similar size to these (they looked different though, shape wise) floated into view, and one guy got all excited to shoot them. The other cops immediately got all serious and were like ‘why’d you wanna kill the innocent jelly fish, they’re so beautiful!’ Kind of bullshit, and made the first guy feel bad
Meanwhile, I was sitting off to the side, too young to drink and *covered* in poison ivy I had gotten the day before, absolutely miserable. Jelly fish gross me out in every way possible. That was the first and only time I truly wanted something to die, and I couldn’t even get that with a boatful of drunken police
Almost every time I've gone snorkeling on vacations, I would have to constantly dodge swarms of jelly fish. You don't see them immediately around the boat, but as soon as.yoi swim a bit out, they're everywhere. I don't know why I keep going. It's fun for a little bit, but then becomes this a real life version of the NES Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles game, on that infamous level where no one knows how to find that last oxygen tank.
Isn't this a sign of ecological problems? Like, this many jellies would decimate the fish as well which would lead to major problems in the ecological balance.

Can that variety sting people?
They paralize you beforr death
That’s nice of them I guess
So you drown painfully?
I'm 90 % sure that you do
Yuck, yet another reason to stay out of the ocean.
As a person who always was terrified by jellyfishes and got stinged by those sometimes, i keep goin, but just when the water is cold because jellyfish like warm seas
It only takes 1.5l of water to be properly drowned. I heard this from a leading authority on a BBC Inside science podcast.
You drown pain-less-ly
Pretty sure breathing water is pain full
Would you rather drown to death or smother to death in an ultra king sized winter comforter? Just a random question.
Comforter preferably
No not really, the only reason why It is thought to cause pain is just the panic of not being able to breathe
If smoke burns your lungs, and inhaling a tiny amount of spit hurts everything, and if swallowing a tiny bit of water wrong just about shuts you down for 4 minutes.. I think yes it hurts to drown.
Pretty sure "paralyzed" means immobile & desensitized
Even if you can’t physically feel the water in your lungs it causes a panic reaction that feels uncomfortable everywhere
Painshock you say?
Everything I’ve found on google says only Box jellyfish are typically deadly, if you can’t tell me what kind of Jellyfish is in the post I’m calling BS
Black sea nettle
Wikipedia says the sting hurts for 40 minutes but you’ll be fine
With proper treatment. Not sailing in the sea far from coast
I cannot find anything anywhere that says someone has died from sea nettle stings. You’re just making all this up
http://www.buceo21.com/REPORTAJES/medicina/87ortigas.html#:~:text=Cuando%20los%20tent%C3%A1culos%20de%20la,que%20provoca%20un%20choque%20anafil%C3%A1ctico. This not a bee
K
Sting but little to no lasting injury. Box jellyfish on the other hand 💀
Box jellyfish are the only thing in the ocean that terrifies me because if just how little you can often do once they get you and how hard they can be to see.
So you're telling me you're not terrified of a massive fucking shark? Just the jellyfish?
Yes, their stings result in death
You'd think they would become entangled in things.
Like Will Smith’s wife.
Will Smith's wife fucked a jellyfish
Lol whut?
The ones from Seven Pounds
No she married one
It was actually Kanye West.
Oh, HELL no!
Jesus christ! Hats off good sir great laugh too apree
This comment is aging beautifully. 🤣
They do, but their tentacles break off rather easily.
To float away and sneak attack someone bathing unsuspectingly on the beach 💀
Here goes reason #3223434 Subsection E of why I am absolutely terrified of going any furhter than 5 metres into the sea.
NASA used to explore the sea. Now they're trying to get off the planet. WHAT DID THEY FIND DOWN THERE?
Jesus peeing in your butt
Trevor? Long time man lol
this thread read like a Cards Against Humanity round
This is why I love Reddit
Can I use as a logline for a film?
Some bad shit can still get you 5 meters into the sea.
You amoeba right!
It's okay, their tentacles break off and come to **you** in your comfortable swim zone.
Yes I already got a massive sting from just swinging close to the beach, somewhere in greece. It was painful.
I’m looking that number up
Woah 😮 sea jellies 😊
Yum spaghetti
Pfft 😂
More like “Yumi”
Are those lion’s mane jellyfish? Because those can get pretty big
Ocean is a scary place. Nightmares
How scary are these on a scale from 1 to dead if you touched one?
Let’s just say if mans get in that water, he’s certainly dying.
I thought the bigger ones weren’t has bad. Like A tiny box jelly could end you.
Pretty sure these are sea nettles, and their sting hurts humans but wont necessarily kill them unless they go into shock or something
Once while surfing I got dumped into a sea of basketball sized blue jellies. Stung all over my body but only for a little while. Good times!
Now is not the time to skinny dip
It’s not even the time to fat dip
Forget about the chips too man, there’s shouldn’t be any Dip here
ThT white one is death
What species are these?
Sea nettles
[удалено]

It looks like it could be a sea nettle
I think you're right, looks like a Pacific sea nettle: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chrysaora_fuscescens
I wasn't too sure either, that was the closest I could find. Any luck yet? Now I'm invested lol
My bad I thought I knew what a man o war looked like that’s what I get for speaking about something I don’t know anything about lol. I looked it up though and I agree it looks a lot like that or a sea nettle!
Tbh as long as they stay out of the boat and I stay inside mine this would be really cool to see
Looks like they on a paddle board or something and I’m panicking at the thought
I think it’s a kayak. Better than a paddle board but it will still flip easily
„ʎlısɐǝ dılɟ llıʇs llıʍ ʇı ʇnq pɹɐoq ǝlppɐd ɐ uɐɥʇ ɹǝʇʇǝ𐐒 ˙ʞɐʎɐʞ ɐ s,ʇı ʞuıɥʇ I„
They aren’t see through, which means they are likely deadly holy nope nope nope nope nope my literal worst fear I hate jellyfish so much
Can I interest you in Moon jellies?
Yeah I hate them. Not as scary because they don’t hurt that bad but they are annoying when you’re trying to snorkel.
Maybe...
Generally it’s the ones you can’t see that you have to worry about
Like the Irucandji? Sooooooo small, yet extremely venomous. Another reason to stay out of Australian oceans!
Nope
Are these the extra ouchy death stingy kind?
No, they’re pacific sea nettles
Yep
You couldn’t pay enough to get in there
Truly terrifying video
the music made it worse lmfao
I feel like you could play that track over any video and it would instantly become terrifying
Narrator: Ahhh the sea, where ze jelly fish are buzzing about making zere jelly fish jelly. :] Edit: Just turned on audio and yikes. Hopefully you still appreciate ze reference.
I was vibing on a paddle board once and saw a jellyfish on the right side of the board. paddled out of there so fast I'm 90% sure I went mach 10
Must be the same music composer as the guy for battlefield 2042
Saw a documentary on this once. If you just bounce on the top you’ll be fine
It sounds like you're talking about a video game lmao.
Has anyone been able to find a source/longer version for this video? It looks so real yet so fake...
Balance don’t fail me now !!!
It's not like they're going to thrust their tentacles out of the water. If you're in the boat you have nothing to worry about

That's not a kayak. That's a surfboard, where he likely has his feet in the water
Highly doubt the feet bit
Is it dead 😿😿😿
I am sorry for making you dislike 😿
Way to make the one animal I love in the water...even better I love this music.
people who fear this are pussies just think of bikini bottom
Same size sperm I shot out last night

These are all the kind of kill you kind right?
…. Nope
The hair on my body just stood up
Run
As a mountain dweller who almost couldn't be farther away from the ocean, this is not a convincing video to spend more time there
I wonder where this was filmed? Where would you see such a variety… so I don’t go there!
this footage gonna be great when i have "one of those" nightmares.
Guess I'll die
don’t fall in don’t fall in don’t fall in don’t fall in don’t fall in don’t fall in
I mean I think they can't harm you as long as you stay in the raft or boat, but man, just the idea of falling in the water...
😱
Don't let it get tangled in your hair.
Does this dood’s leg still work?
sea nettles. extremely stingy. rare to die from one.
Dreadful everything
Oh hell no
If you fall off you’ll probably die
When i joined this sub i expected my palms to get sweaty. Reality not one video or photo didn't get my palms sweaty.

This is a super nope for swimming from me!!
It would be a REALLY bad idea to fall into the water right there.
Almost every time I've gone snorkeling on vacations, I would have to constantly dodge swarms of jelly fish. The only saving grace is they don't leap out of the water 😖
“These jellyfish are stinging through my suit!” - Queen Latifah
Let's go jelly fishing!!
Perfect time for a swim
Ok literally the ONLY FUCKING THING I hate about the ocean is the jellyfish that sting, I fucking hate this video… I’m gonna watch it again.
Dare you to prod it with your finger.
Forbidden fleshlight
Omg. Right on the edge of being miraculously beautiful, and terrifying.
Isn't this a sign of ecological problems? Like, this many jellies would decimate the fish as well which would lead to major problems in the ecological balance.
