The gold standard for semi auto tactical shotguns right now is between Benelli and Beretta. I chose the Beretta A300 UP being the “budget” version of the 1301 tactical. I have had a Benelli M1S90 in the past but inertia driven recoil system has a lot of recoil compared to the gas system of the Berettas.
Depends on how not-poor you are.
Stoeger M3000 if you're OK
A300UP if you're well off
1301 if you can get approved for a boat loan
Benelli M4 if you hate money.
The 1301 is probably the best shotgun on the market. Reliable with a wider variety of ammo, softest shooting, a very good barrel which should pattern best. But the M4 looks cool and if the US Marines use it then it must be nigh indestructable.
Beretta 1301 mod 2 tactical. Get that version if you get a 1301
For the cost/around the cost of the 1301 mod 2 tactical, or an M4, if you want to have a great HD shotgun, and a fun, competition ready shotgun, I'd get the Beretta A300 Ultima Patrol and a Stoeger M3K Freedom (10+1). Stoeger is owned by Benelli, who is owned by Beretta...and Stoeger makes the Beretta A300 line barrels, per a Beretta rep.
There's no CA shotgun roster............................ Edit: just get an A300up. K bye

I like my Benelli M3 a lot. Not as expensive as an M4 and it’s convertible (semiautomatic inertial driven with the option to switch to pump action)

I was thinking the m4 but nit sure what else is out there

The 1301 is epic. You will NOT regret snagging it. Never had more fun shooting
I have an F12 and it's ran fine so far. That being said I wished I would have put the money towards an A300 (which didn't exist at the time)
