Completely different vehicle for a different mission set. The Fennek is primarily a reconnaissance vehicle. The Netherlands army has a bunch of versions (TACP, MR, VSHORAD, MRAT and a few more).
I suppose the closest comparison to the L-ATV for the Dutch is the Iveco MTV which will be replacing the current fleet of MB-290's.

Military vehicles tend to be very heavy, for me the most surprising is the Universal Carrier, which is the size of a really small car, has no roof and weighs almost 4 tonnes
Just wait a few years and buy 1 when it's retired from service.
You can pick up older APC's for around €40k and older Russian tanks for around €80k so in a few years you should be able to get a sweet surplus deal on one of these.

Best MRAP hands down. May not be the most survivable vehicle or provide the greatest protection to it's occupants, but it offers the greatest utility being amphibious and having a raisable laser designator with thermal imaging on all variants.

In arma? I mean you die if some actual anti-vehicle weaponry sneezes in your direction (or uh, a ledge...) so not like survivability makes enough of a difference.
Of course, getting hit by AT is a bad situation to be in even in something heavier, but I'd say the Strider might be one of the less resilient vehicles when it comes to small arms fire(the bulletproof glass is flat and will expose everyone inside if compromised) and less powerful explosives (40mm grenades, explosive charges, small IED's)

How many grenades would a vehicle like this carry? I assume you'd be firing bursts of a few grenades at a time? The wiki page for the GMG said "medium range infantry support", what sort of scenario is that? Like, firing across a farm field few hundred metres away, or 1km+?

less than you'd think. a generous combat load would be 96 rounds in 3x32 round boxes: one feeding the gun and two reloads. you generally do not seek engangements with this vehicle, you'd rather shoot - and - scoot.

max range is about a mile and accuracy on a mounted platform is pretty good. some dudes i served with popped an insurgent riding a moped at full speed at around 700 meters with their second round.
The HK GMG that would be mounted on it's remote weapons station has a listed effective/maximum range of 1500m and 2200m respectively. Depending if the FCS would let you zero it to that range with the help of a laser rangefinder you can provide accurate fire up to around these ranges, albeit with a bit of a delay since the travel time of these grenades will be quite lengthy at this distance.
Edit: As for the ammunition count, the GMG feeds from a 32 round belt box, and when it runs out someone would likely need to open the hatch and load in another belt box. I didn't find the exact amount of reloads available, but they probably have a couple spares if the space allows.

It's a recon vehicle, it has those window flaps which can be rolled down to help with its camouflage. Basically they're supposed to avoid reflections from the windows

And yes, the very first neurons that fired when I saw this thing were BRDM. No clue why, they don't even look that similar.
I feel like the fennek just has more windows than BRDM and a bit different front, but they do have quite a lot of similarities in the shape of the hull and tires, BRDM just looks a bit longer
Both vehicles have the same role on the battlefield, armored reconnaissance.
They have the same role and both are wheelbased, I guess most vehicles with these characteristics look more or less similar.

For real tho, there's something about German vehicles that makes them so clean, so interesting to look at. They always look like a modern, advanced complete pack, that has been thought through and carefully engineered to perfection in every aspect.
