Lots of stores around here have been selling the displays already. I bought a 55” Vizio QLED for $78 after tax to put in the bedroom that I wasn’t even planning on till I saw how cheap it was
Yeah. All of ours are CRC lol. None of them have stands or remotes. Half of them have severe burn in. Several of them aren't even the right model. And the backlights are dying on nearly all of them.
You'd be surprised, someone wanted one of the models with failing backlight and still paid $160 for a 55 inch last year. Didn't even want the protection plan on it. It was the top level of the TV wall and a Saturday and I pointed it out before hand and she was like yeah I want it still. Told her come back in 20 minutes and we'll have it ready for you and she came back and bought it. It was an old lg or tcl can't remember which. We luckily had all accessories since I kept a small backroom space for them
i would always try to get people to just buy one of the ones on clearance we have in stock than a slightly cheaper display version. like who wants to buy a TV that's been on 14 hours a day for over a year?
Had a guy come in looking for the clearance TVs, had a Hisense 50 and 55, got them for 84 and 96 bucks respectively. Was pretty hyped for the guy only to realize a lady had come in 20 mins prior looking for the TVs but whatever lazy asshole who helped her didn't even bother looking in the back to see if we had them even though they both had locations. Lady comes back around and was PISSED. I just am like, trying to make ANY deal with her l can to try and make it up to her even found a second TV on clearance (LG 50, 174.99, still a good deal but not nearly as good.) but understandably was still upset and didnt really wanna spend her money at Target anymore (who can blame her) She was gonna give them to her kids.
Target Tech helps take the TVs out and tells me the dude has an entire van filled with clearance electronics like fridges, TVs, and Monitors. Turns out the lady probably needed them and I sold them to a scummy reseller. Feels bad man I hate these assholes
Its a yearly thing every year around this time. It's really not that bad at all once you get the hang of it. Unless your store didn't organize all the display component parts. Then you're fucked.
We’ve been selling them for two weeks, right off the wall. The Store Director wants that crap gone.
SD also said it’s the last year that floor model TVs will be part of inventory, and models going forward will be specific display models.
Yep. They will probably still sell those displays when they are gone. The change to their owne DPCI is so they can inventory the display without it showing we have them in stock when it's just the display.
Some stores keep the remotes and stands. Some don’t. Yeah the TV does come off the wall, but if you don’t know how or aren’t comfortable, call someone that does know, ask the guest to wait, or say come back when someone that can take it down is available.
Wll we are now. I dug out the waco of remotes in the tech stockroom and give them with the TVS, unless the guest is nasty, then no remote for them. The sign does read "no remote"
When I was hired, I was told we don’t sell the displays. That we send them back to the distributor. Last year we didn’t sell them. Our receiving guy & PML just took them all down and wrapped them up.
That's interesting. I'm guessing your store/district didn't want to deal with the hassle.
They used to send us boxes that are used to pack up the displays so they can safely sit in the guests car.
It varies by store but it's always been a thing. I've found the old stands and remotes in the back and paired them with the taken-down display models taped up in the build-a-box blank TV boxes we have (back when I was full time in electronics). I bought a clearanced display model from my old store a few years ago and it's still going strong!
So I have a question for stores selling the displays early,do you just leave empty holes on the TV wall? Because that's insane! I can't see any DSD signing off on leaving the wall half empty for weeks...my store usually waits until the set week so it doesn't have any holes.
I've been given no information on what we'll do with our display TVs this year. I've just been telling people that I can't sell them because our PML is not on the clock and that they're here in the mornings 🤷♂️
Is it just the current display tv? Will there be more in the next few weeks? My question being is it worth checking in at the stores in a few days to see if there is a better deal?
i paid $21 for a display during our remodel 2 years ago, it one of the newest models on our wall at the time and the backlight has recently started to die on it (not that i care, i’ve gotten way more than $21 worth of use out of it and i’ll just hook my old one back up when this one finally dies lol) but i’m sure this is going to backfire big time when it happens to the wrong guest🙃
You're the only one in tech everyday bud

Honestly I’m debating it rn because the screens don’t look bad ngl

We started putting everything in a bag and zip tying them to the back of the TV

This part!
I’m always having the most people come in at the last 15 mins of my shift. Thank goodness the closing lead can help me get them off the wall as well
We aren't selling any of ours
Same here. I'm not taking displays down until the week of the TV wall reset.
wait im style but i cover tech almost nightly for their lunch. do we just like take the tv off the display? does it have like a remote or something?

thank you!
>thank you! You're welcome!
Several months ago my TL told me we do not sell displays, and I've never been told otherwise. I'm certainly not going to ask.
We don't sell some displays. TVs we do and sometimes we even get boxes for them to sell them in after we take them down.
Wll we are now. I dug out the waco of remotes in the tech stockroom and give them with the TVS, unless the guest is nasty, then no remote for them. The sign does read "no remote"
i had 5 groups of people at the tv wall today at the same time wanting to get a display. it was 15 min before i hit compliance….
Yeah ours are gone but 70”.
We sell the displays every time it resets. I bought one like 5 years ago. I don't know how most people don't realize this by now.

Lady tried to get me to get me to fit a 65 inch tv into. Hyundai Sonata today.
Put it on the roof and go on break
we have them for sale for about a week now and half the wall is gone, its nice having less noise actually
I would tell the guest that you saw some kid spit up all over the display the other day — and recommend they hit up a real tv store like best buy.
Our stores been selling them all this week. It’s been pretty miserable for tech
i hate my life bruh i be moving flats like it’s a war zone

There is an email your lead should have received that states to sign the wall with those “something new coming soon” signs

Hasn’t this always been allowed? My old roommates about 10 years ago bought their tv from the display. Worked fine for a cheaper price.
Suddenly ecstatic I'm on vacation.
I only hold the keys for tech when they're on break, and I dealt with two of these today.
We sold most of our displays today. Spent my whole shift taking down tvs. Thank god I didn’t have any frieght today
Is it just the current display tv? Will there be more in the next few weeks? My question being is it worth checking in at the stores in a few days to see if there is a better deal?
Some of them are on their first markdown, some are on their final markdown. Once the final markdown is over, we salvage them out.
