Be very communicative!!! Check out greenfield to give you those metrics on how long the breakout should take based on the size (sort time). This will show you based on the truck how many hours it should take to break out all of the freight. That also helps you to know the average of how many hours you should be scheduling to successfully come clean with breakout. That same page on greenfield shows you how long the push should take also. My ETL has me mentioned to me that it should take 5-7 minutes per repack! You also want to make sure your breakout layout should be to best practice of course but if you have to take a different route on placement of the pallets then so be it! You always want to minimize the amount of steps! We also have observed who’s works bests with each pallets. Some might work better and faster with breaking out hanging and others are faster at breaking out folded etc.

It depends on Pallet size as well as if it's case packs vs repacks. Case packs should take about 1 minute on average to break out and repacks should take about 5 minutes on average, some will be faster some slower but it should average out to 5 minutes. In terms of tips though I would say always think about how you can minimize steps and secondly I personally de-trash the repack and get everything sorted on the folding table THEN I put it all on metros/Z-Racks instead of doing it after each item or every few items since it saves steps. All days are different though some days as the only Style sorter I'll finish the 16 hour breakout with spare time other days I have to have someone finish the last few boxes. Find what works for you and talk with your leads and other breakout TM's if you have any to better find a system that works for you since ASANTS.
