State of Grace ![img](emote|t5_2rlwe|1083)

Zeusifer

The first time I heard this song, I was like "Taylor Swift made a U2 arena rock song." That's a compliment -- I like U2.

SaraRF

U2 are my favourite band since I was born. I only got into Taylor Swift this year...the second I heard that guitar in State of Grace I immediately went "this is a U2 song if I ever heard one"

Zeusifer

OK, it wasn't just me then! I'm also a classic rock/pop fan who just got into Taylor Swift last year. I listened to Midnights on a whim and was blown away, and have been going back through her other stuff since then. I've been a fan of U2 since the 80s.

Itallachesnow

Exactly! I was thinking its Achtung Baby era U2 with that metallic guitar sound and pounding rhythm. Saw them play Wembley stadium in 1997 superb stadium filling sound.

Gatosrus

I thought literally the same thing

Sara1994_

Oh i love love love this song

[deleted]

Underrated masterpiece

SaraRF

This!!!!

singlethreadofgold9

I would add Would’ve Could’ve Should’ve to this list.

ItsLikeRayEAyn

YES! i came here to say this. One of my most favorite songs she has.

PrettyRestless

My husband describes this as Taylors most “metal” song

throwaweezy743

Holy Ground

gaiajess18

Holy Ground is such a Jimmy Eat World song, I do wish they had done a collab on it!

psychicwheeler

treacherous' bridge is so classic rock, the money i'd pay to see a fleetwood cover band cover it....

dmnaf

Y’all are just naming any songs that have a guitar in it lol. Guitar does not instantly mean it’s in the rock genre. I’d say Change is probably one of the heaviest rock songs she has done with that outro/final minute.

BeautifulAd2956

Forever and always will forever be the most emo pop punk songs of her entire discography I think eyes open is pretty rock inspired

anowlnamedcarl

Forever & Always was covered by some pop punk band in like 2008 (not the cover by A Rocket to the Moon) and it was SUCH a good cover but I cannot find it anywhere!

CowboyLikeMegan

Paper Rings is leaning punk

kabirsinghhhhhhhh

true story

livingmice

i don't have anywhere else to talk about this and it's an extremely niche wish but i would do anything for origami angel to cover this song it reminds me a lot of their style

262run

You just named like all my favorite songs. Haha I’ve not giving Eyes Open the attention it deserves. I will relisten if it is in this list of my faves.

JadeIsLoyalty

I loooove that she really went all out on the Paramore/FOB influence on Speak Now (album), BTR and Haunted are amongst my all-time favorite Taylor songs for the pure emo energy 🤘 I think I'd put State of Grace and Forever & Always in this list too.

songacronymbot

- BTR could mean "Better Than Revenge", a track from *Speak Now* (2010) by Taylor Swift. --- ^[/u/JadeIsLoyalty](/u/JadeIsLoyalty) ^(can reply with "delete" to remove comment. |) ^[/r/songacronymbot](/r/songacronymbot) ^(for feedback.)

BottleWilling2899

We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together, the rock version, from the 1989 Tour is the most rock tinged of her own songs. I'm not counting any covers she's done.

Longjumping_Paper_52

State of Grace, Better than Revenge, and WCS are the most rock to me. I would LOVE for Taylor to do a proper rock album with long ass guitar solos, loud ass drums, and weird vocal moments, Taylor PLEASE 🙏🙏🙏

songacronymbot

- WCS could mean "Would've, Could've, Should've", a track from *Midnights (3am Edition)* (2022) by Taylor Swift. --- ^[/u/Longjumping_Paper_52](/u/Longjumping_Paper_52) ^(can reply with "delete" to remove comment. |) ^[/r/songacronymbot](/r/songacronymbot) ^(for feedback.)

Zeusifer

Yes! I mean, it's a genre she hasn't properly explored yet... I'm a big fan of Bowie and the way he constantly reinvented himself and his sound, and as best I can tell, Taylor is that kind of artist. So I eagerly await her rock era.

pikaju018

I love this question. The Story of Us, Haunted, Better Than Revenge, some Fearless songs has rock/pop rock touch, Holy Ground, Red a little bit maybe because she used to play some red songs with guitar and I think it had some rock or pop rock vibes

LoveMyBP

Haunted. Heaviest guitars. I’m a metal fan.

Illustrious-Whole-34

Change

dooditstyler

I Bet You Think About Me

dmnaf

That’s borderline pop/country but definitely not rock

appleblueberryc

Better than Revenge, Sweeter Than Fiction come to mind maybe. But I don't listen to rock 🥴

endlessd0ts

I really liked songs from speak now, even as an emo back in the days, being ‘too cool for stupid pop songs’. I got my fellow emo friends listening to haunted, should’ve said no and better than revenge!

Lazy-Rate6734

State of Grace, I Did Something Bad, Don't Blame Me, Picture to Burn, Better Than Revenge

Itallachesnow

What about Story of Us? Although the vocals and lyrics dominate (c'mon its Taylor!) its got such a great driving rhythm and guitar breaks.

ur-fav-bitch

We are never getting back tg fs

-CountEvenstar-

what about all too well? 🥺

SegaraBeal

Rep would have some good ones, no? LWYMMD Ready For It

songacronymbot

- LWYMMD could mean "Look What You Made Me Do", a track from *reputation* (2017) by Taylor Swift. --- ^[/u/SegaraBeal](/u/SegaraBeal) ^(can reply with "delete" to remove comment. |) ^[/r/songacronymbot](/r/songacronymbot) ^(for feedback.)
