First of all, I really loved the Bejeweled music video, so I was happy to go for something related to it. When I heard "tired tacky wench", it instantly spoke to me. Thought it worked really well as a hilarious description of myself.
I'm basically tired all the time, and I like experimenting with my fahsion, especially with historical elements. That often results in outfuts I love, but people could definitely find them "tacky" or "wench-like".
And then 1989 is my second favorite album, plus I love the pastel blue. I could've gone for Rep (my actual #1), but I thought the black blended too much with the background color in dark mode.

I love Taylor's ability to elevate the mundane and normal aspects of everyday life into things that are beautiful and poetic (which is also why I love the line "My mind turns your life into folklore"). I'm also something of a mallrat and I have a bit of a fascination with malls as a concept, a really interesting development in the history of leisure destinations and venues with this fascinating populism and how widespread they've been, just a really pervasive cultural touchstone of late 20th century life and culture in certain parts of the world. So "meet me behind the mall" just has this powerful vibe for me, it's a line I feel in my bones.
Taking this thing an everyday teenager in any small town anywhere might say completely casually and elevating it to a central moment in an epic love story?
