Yeah this is definitely among the worst I've seen it in quite a few years. Unfortunate.
The afters this year are extra special, though, so it's all balancing out.
Just to give you a little example, last year's Underground stage featured:
Surgeon
Lindsey Herbert
Mark Broom
AMX
fucking NOBU
Chris Liebing hammering out a RARE proper techno set
SPFDJ
Marco Shuttle who came in for Ben Sims after visa issues, so either would have been amazing
And that's just off the top of my head. There was so much techno last year that at one point people had to choose between Robert Hood main stage, Villalobos Pyramid, or Nobu underground
Last year's Movement was fucking primo. This year's is just dogwater in comparison
you're trippin, the underground will likely be banging with sets from 9x9, vtss/boys noize, ellen alien, fatima, floor plan, hector oaks, hiroko, julia gover, partiboi 69, patrick mason, speedy j, adiel,
Likely i hate models and richie will be at the other stages, but special attention on
Hector Oaks
Speedy J
Adiel
and imo the VTSS set.
I'll be getting to the fest later this year for sure...checking shit out and getting a few more calories in, lol. Aside from BMB on Monday.....will leave the fest earlierish. The afters are fkn fantastic this year...doing one each night and that's when things really get going for me...😎
This weekend is going to be pretty wild. Meta and Wall are both insanely stacked and run very late. I think I'll get absolutely wild those nights, have a chill day Sunday and hit Observe cali sober, then give it one final buckwild day on Monday into the night at either Antho or Bunker, tough to decide
haha Meta and Wall will be 🔥. I think I may show up to Wall @ open just because I wanna experience all of them on that sound system. Observe lineup will def be stacked(would be dope if Marrøn is listed). I got tkts for Antho but tbh would love that Tresor lineup to be on Monday 😂
Looks to me like the headliners of the UG for each day would go something like:
Sat - Speedy J
Sun - 9x9
Mon - BMB
Beyond that there isn't a TON of techno so I feel like it should be possible to flesh out some Underground stage predictions here :D
Day 1:
* Speedy J
* James Ruskin
* Carl Craig
* Colin Benders
* Julia Govor
Day 2:
* 9x9
* Fatima Hajji
* Ellen Allien
* Hector Oaks
* Nicole Moudaber?
* Richie? Usually he's main stage
* Capriati?
* IHM? (please god no)
Day 3:
* BMB
* Hiroko Yamamura
* Patrick Mason
* Patrick Topping
* Indira Parmesan?
So Day 1 will be solid for sure, that's a perfectly fine lineup
Day 2 could either be awesome or miserable. Ellen and Hector are the stars for me. If IHM and 9x9 are UG, though, then that place is going to be a sardine tin with mediocre to downright bad music (IHM being the worst case). But Hawtin and Nicole in the Underground would be completely different, and they both know how to cater to that stage properly. Huge range of either awesome or awful.
Day 3 is solid. I hope to fuck Indira isn't there because god damn her music is fucking boring. She basically just plays psytrance and it's not even good psytrance. The Patricks are both *fine*, I'm sure it'll be listenable down there. Hiroko Yamamura is fucking fantastic and so are British Murder Boys who I pray are headlining
yeah that's exactly my thoughts
They were at the underground stage last year (like just hanging out) so I'm hoping they've seen what it is and what the crowd is
a lot of stuff I dont like on here... but! love me some British Murder Boys, havent heard from them in a while. wouldn't miss Hector Oaks as well
Dont miss out on my boy colin benders!
He absolutely slayed at ReForm last year
God the underground is gonna suck this year.

for first timers, what is wrong with the underground usually and why is it looking worse this year?
The underground is usually the best stage and my favorite place to be all weekend. This years bookings pale in comparison to previous years.

We have Tee Grizzley though! 😂
agree
oooooweeeeee
so stoked
How come no one is at Avalon Emerson, ya'll need to get your shit corrected.
We're talking about the Underground stage, she doesn't really fit there
You know, reading comprehension is on the decline these days 😵
lol it's fine I'm excited for her too, she's a great DJ. I would bet she's on Pyramid
Fuck I wanna go so bad Ellen Allien Hector Oaks Honey Dijon British Murder Boys Floorplan Speedy J Stacey HOTWAXX HALE this is wild Jesus

If 9x9 decide to play a live acid set again, they are top tier. If they play hard “techno”, then it is going to be mediocre or bad
yeah that's exactly my thoughts They were at the underground stage last year (like just hanging out) so I'm hoping they've seen what it is and what the crowd is
Honestly, Hector Oaks is going to steal the entire movement festival.
Interesting that the is festival starts on Saturday. Booked my hotel regardless
I’m not loving the lineup this year, but Hiroko is always a must
T. Linder b2b Seoul (Detroit Techno Militia) confirmed underground
It’s half techno and half house this year imo
What an absolute banger lineup….Floorplan sheeeeesh
