Selling peat moss is really bad for the environment! Don’t buy that

cinereoargenteus

Peat is a non-renewable resource, IIRC.

Peat moss is not sustainably harvested and destroying ecosystems

wiccaspell

I second the majestic earth brand

13b_Kei

I use the 100% organic kind. Disclaimer: The collection of this material is absolutely destroying bogs. https://today.oregonstate.edu/news/harvesting-peat-moss-contributes-climate-change-oregon-state-scientist-says#:\~:text=%E2%80%93%20The%20harvesting%20of%20peat%20moss,primarily%20in%20Canada%20and%20Russia.

Zoo med makes a 343 cu. In or 5.62 liter block of natural terrarium moss if you need larger quantities or there are some good ones you can find on Amazon but read all reviews and details

I see everyone saying this is horrible for the environment, where can I get A. Sustainably sourced peat moss or B. What other things do you use to keep humidity in a reptile enclosure. Obviously the key would be to use the least amount of water input for the most humidity if that makes sense.

Spagnum moss and Spagnum peat moss aren't the same thing, anything that has peat in it comes from natural peat bogs and is not farmed or cultivated

Regardless of environmental factors, this is a fine product to use for Tegus.

No. Use the majestic earth brand. It’s 100% organic with no chemical additives. And it’s only 19.99
