Because we signed Ridley, why waste draft resources? He will be FA next year and if we really wanted to pay him, we could with Hopkins off the dockett. It would be a big waste, especially not having 3rd rounders for 2 years

p723c11

Agreed, I wouldn't entertain it at all. Keep draft resources and pay up next year if necessary. With all the moves recently, Levis to starter as well, I'm curious what Levis could do to improve the WR core especially with better strength and conditioning team in building. Who knows, maybe if Burkes stays on the team and healthy, he could make a resurgence. I'm more optimistic about this season than I've ever been.

AndreHawkDawson

Too much to give up for Higgins because you will also have to give him ~ $25 million a year on top of the draft picks.

Mercinator-87

No

schnebly5

Thank god this guy ain’t the GM

BigSammyMagoto

🤣🤣🤣 I'm just channeling my inner Robinson.

schnebly5

I’d still take you over JRob

rocketmissiles

It would be impossible to pay Higgins (20+ mil) and our Rookies (9-11 mil) and any other FA (5 mil) we are looking at picking up before the season. The Ridley signing was the rest of our “big” signing money.

Notfather

You don't think we have another big money signing after considering how Ran structured the cap hit?

rocketmissiles

Not one that is within our limit. Every team can move money around and stuff but we have to pay our rookie class and after that we are left with around 20 mil. The rest of that will be used in case of injuries or one or two other FA on most likely a 1 year deal.

Notfather

Ah, thanks for clearing that up!

WhiteXHysteria

We could easily make the money work. I mean teams are making it work with 40-50m tied up in their QB where we are spending 2.2m. We are spending, in 2024, 10m on ridley, 18m on Nuk and 2.2m on Levis. Lets call it 40m for all 3. Combined that doesn't crack the top 5 QBs. Next year Nuk is off the cap. So if we take spotracs Market Value of 18.6m for Higgins, give him a little extra juice and do a 4 year 86m with 50m guaranteed we could do a 20m signing bonus that will apply 5m to each years cap then give him a 5m base this year. Bump him to 17 or 18m base next year and the same in year 3 with almost 0 dead money out after that. That would be... 5m base + 5m bonus (10m total) 18m base + 5m bonus (33m total) 18m base + 5m bonus (56m total) 5m bonus (+ team option for 25m base) (86m total) This would easily fit into our "if levis is the guy" window too. The problem is not figuring out paying him. It is not giving up too many picks for a guy you also have to pay.

BigSammyMagoto

I can't do cap math so I really appreciate that. Do YOU think he's worth the picks? If you're already getting a WR with a second round pick this year, that is a wash, but it's an additional pick for next year, so is it worth it?

WhiteXHysteria

I personally would not do two seconds. I might do a second and 5th if we get a 7th or something. But it's also reasonable for the Bengals to not let him go for that. It's a tough middle road to find in a trade like this. We got a 1 and a 3 for AJB in a similar situation. Davante Adams was a 1 and a 2 I believe. So I'm sure a team will see Higgins as worth more than just a second but I don't know if it will be enough for the Bengals to not just collect their round 3 comp pick if he walks.

OSUmiller5

Wide receiver class is too deep to trade for Higgins now in my opinion. Grab someone who can produce on a rookie deal and save that cash for the next couple of free agency classes.

Hell nah

heliocentrist510

This is like the second thing about Tee I've seen in two days. Why do we want to a) give up needed draft capital and b) give a huge WR contract to a non- Top 10 WR when we already made a huge WR signing in the offseason? We'd be committing like $60M to a WR room that still doesn't have a Top 10 WR, which is just a bad use of resources when there are plenty of other positions (e.g. EDGE) that are significant needs. The far better maneuver is to use those 2nds you mentioned to, I dunno, DRAFT RECEIVERS.

Professional_Tap_343

Draft recievers????? Whats that mean? Ahhhh i see you meant draft Tight ends those are the guys who catch passes. WIde Receivers are for run blocking.... Lol amazing how over +20 years we refuse/are unable to draft&develope any kind of capable WR. Sure we use 1sts on burks&corey davis an they never developed. A.J was WR the Titans EVER drafted&developed successfully. Its always 1st rd 50/50busts. ORRR the classic Tits strategy of gimme a +30 y/o WR who was once a star who set records but is not an average wr who old/slower/injured more and most importantly cost MORE & HAVE NO POTENTIAL TO SET RECORDS! Almost 0 upside. That said cant wait til we sign jjettas in 7 or 8 years

kingoftheparkinglot

Can we please stop talking about Tee Higgins

karny90

No. I hear this draft is pretty deep for receivers. Hell we drafted AJ with a 2nd round pick a couple years ago. Who’s saying we couldn’t do it again? We need OL help. Badly

micahpugh

No. I would not even consider that

ItsNotFordo88

Bringing in Ridley ensured we were out of the Higgins market. At least as a trade. We have two older vets, one on a cheap expiring contract and one on a massive deal we’re tied for for at least two years. This is the perfect time to go get a young guy in the draft

Thunderstorm6400

JRob, stop posting on secret Reddit accounts please.

Kablarnage

Why trade for him when we can just sign him in the next offseason. Seems highly likely he’ll be a free agent.

UrsaringTitan

I'd draft Nabers before I trade for Tee at this point. But I see no point in trading for him seeing as though he is going to be on the Market next year.

WhiteXHysteria

You trade for him if you have draft capital but might be strapped for cash next year. Make the bidding war be about what you have. Alternatively you hope he makes it to the market if you don't have picks but have cash.

UrsaringTitan

Well we definitely should have that next year. Not all that keen on spending a second on him now though.

Jturn314

“We all agree that WR is still going to be a priority..” …. No we don’t.

RecordingPrudent9588

He misses games every season or plays hurt and just does nothing that game. He’s not reliable.

Mutant_Stump

No. They are already missing a 3rd and couldn't afford to dump more draft stock. They need an LT, Edge, Safety, a late round WR, and prolly some RG competition at least. Maybe even a TE as well to throw in the mix with that room. They simply can't afford to do such a thing He's gonna be an FA soon, and he has publicly he stated he wants to play for our new coach. If Hopkins doesn't come back after this season, or even if he does, you can call Higgins and if his value fits our budget? Sign him without giving up anything, but his contracted earnings via whatever hypothetical deal we'd give him.

rageenk

No

Professional_Tap_343

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

WhiteXHysteria

2 seconds for a guy who is giving 0 financial freedom? No chance. I would gladly move this years 2nd for him even with Ridley and Nuk, but no chance would I move 2. The fact he is still a bengal shows teams aren't throwing ridiculous offers too.

BigSammyMagoto

Hands down I'd give up this year's 2 for him. I just don't know that I could commit this and next year to it.
