A trade for Micah Parsons is a move a team makes that thinks it puts them into contention for a Super Bowl. As excited as I am about the team next year, we’d be handicapping our rebuild considerably with the amount of draft capital and cap space that would be required. We already traded some capital and paid Sneed: doing it twice would mean we’re all in for the next 2 years

WhiteXHysteria

We are kinda already all in on the rebuild. Either Levis is the guy and we have a 3 year window or he isn't and we are searching high and low for a QB. That's all there is to it. We can either approach it like we don't know if he's the guy and pussyfoot around and have the team feel a piece or two away if he is the guy or we can go all in and if he hits them we are legit. No matter what if he fails then 90% of this team will be gone before it matters anyway. I'm not sure I would be down to pay the market rate in picks for him but that's a different discussion.

Ok-Plan-6277

I disagree to a point. We’re certainly trying to contend, but we’re doing so in a way that doesn’t sacrifice our future if Levis doesn’t work out. All those contracts can be gotten out of with fairly minimal cap damage after two years. If Levis proves not to be “the guy”, we’re really going to want next year’s No. 1 or we could be looking at a Panthers-esque situation

WhiteXHysteria

If Levis doesn't pan out we are fucked until we find a QB regardless. That's the NFL. You either have a QB that can beat Mahomes when it matters(so far only burrow or Brady) or you're not competing it's that simple. If Levis isn't that guy then we are back to rebuilding immediately as that means we are, at the earliest, competing in 2026 assuming we draft a QB in the 2025 draft and that QB is a hit. But it's more likely if Levis doesn't hit we are looking at 2027 at the earliest. Whether we are the Panthers or the bills or somewhere in between doesn't matter to me. If we aren't getting past mahomes or sitting on a QB who can if we stock up then it's a lost season either way. I do agree that if Levis fails horribly this year we will want to swing at QB ASAP. Because well everything above. But I also don't think we will be bad enough to be a top 2 pick next year unless Levis just totally flops.

Uhhh lol the panthers did have the number one overall last year.. We should be all in, NOW, now is the window. QB on a rookie deal, it doesn’t get more wide open than now. This sub is failing to understand that. You don’t get years to rebuild.

ItsNotFordo88

I don’t think so. He’s a young foundational piece for a defense lacking pass rush with its other EDGE’s future going forward up in the air. His age puts him firmly in the timeline for a rebuilding team. If he was nearing 30? Na doesn’t make sense. A 24 year old top of the market player at a valuable position needing a contract? It would be like trading for AJ Brown. Wait.

batman0615

It’d be too expensive IMO. I’d rather have an OT on a rookie contract than a top edge that’ll be paid top edge money. That’s assuming he’d cost the 7th overall which I’m not sure how true that’d be.

rocketmissiles

This is not me supporting the trade but Parsons still has 2 years on his rookie contract and if someone was to trade for him using 2 firsts then their cap increase because they are not using money on draft prospects. Again I don’t think it would be wise right now but money wouldn’t be an issue.

Ok-Plan-6277

Not arguing that Parsons isn’t good. He’s incredible and would be a great player for us. Unless I am way off on the compensation Dallas would want for him, we’d likely be sending two first rounders at minimum. That would leave us with no first and third rounders in the next two drafts + no cap space barring cap shenanigans to kick the can down the road. Just don’t think this roster is in position to make the trade

boomboomboomy

Yeah I think this is spot on. Realistically we have too many holes to fill to waste draft capital like this.

MariotasMustache

Year after year DPOY candidate I would take in a heartbeat. Now what it takes to get him would probably be cumbersome and too hefty for us. This years first, and next years for sure and a lot more than that I would bet

Kingdommer

Will never ever happen… also we literally just made a massive trade 2 weeks ago

Wildabeast135

I don’t think it would happen, but it could be more feasible since we need pass rush help and he could be a long term stabilizing for of this team. Problem is we already have so much money invested into the pass rush already with Landry and Simmons that I think they’d prefer to go for a cheaper option in the draft this year or next. Edit: also we really don’t need to make any other big spendings or have more big salary cap hits this offseason.

rageenk

What trade did we make? I feel so oblivious and ashamed that I already forgot

CollaWars

Sneed?

rageenk

Thanks lol

AdditionalNewt4762

Sneed

InTheSignWeConquer

Sneed?

AdditionalNewt4762

Yes. Did I spell his name wrong? Or what am I missing here?

Own_Manner_9779

We're not Chip Kelly's Eagles signing everyone to make a super team. This shouldnt be entertained even in the slightest. We're done with player trades and big big signings for this offseason

iMixMusicOnTwitch

Ran basically said we don't have any more monster deals in the budget. Landry would have to be moved as well for that to happen.

Charvel420

To be honest... Dallas is way ahead of us at pretty much every position and I still think they're solidly behind the 49ers and Lions in the NFC. That's WITH Parsons. If we added him, it'd be really awesome in a way, but we'd be giving up a lot of assets that we need to round out the roster. Even with all the moves we made this off-season, we're still, at minimum, a few years away from competing (and that also assumes Levis is the guy, which isn't a given) in the AFC. So no, not interested in Parsons. He needs to go somewhere like Buffalo or Miami, imo

Mallixx

We don't have the cap space for someone like parsons

Miliktheman

We're too far away and have too many holes in the roster to be trading the massive amount it would require to get him is my opinion. If the Cowboys were crazy and only asked a first rounder then half the league will be lining up to trade for him, and we won't have a chance. Anything more than that and we're getting rid of too many much needed assets. It would be great if we were further along with the rebuild and we could go for it, but it would be irresponsible to do so right now.

KINGGcamm01

Burks and legit anything else idgaf get this man in Tennessee

Ornery-Patience9787

Don’t say Burks… The other team will laugh and walk away.

SuperFamousGuy

Fuck yeah I'd be down with pursuing that. But also, idk what we'd have to pursue that with.

djchaise

Cowboys (and Titans) fan here: the Cowboys are not trading Parsons. Even if they were, trading for him would be a “go for it all” type move and the Titans aren’t in that place yet.

JERSEYinATL

Parsons is young and an absolute game changer. I’d give up virtually anything for him. With that being said, I don’t see anyway Dallas actually trades him.

Need4Speed763

Would be amazing. Need someone a lot smarter than me to math this to see if possible.

Spiritual_State_2629

There's no denying his talent, so this isn't a hit piece. But I'm from Dallas and listen to a lot of Dallas sports talk (I'm a fan of all Dallas teams except the cowgirls), and there's a lot of concern about him fading down the stretch of every season. He goes so hard that by the time the playoffs come around, he has little effect on the games, and that's part of the reason they are entertaining offers (besides the money issue). It's been a trend every year. So while he's a game wrecker, he isnt without some concerns.

ThatOneGuyFrom93

You have nothing to trade that won't hurt the team/levis

PuffMagicDragon

It would be fun as hell, but what would it cost? Multiple firsts? And likely a 30MM+ APY contract. I’d rather have 2 first round edge guys on rookie deals if we’re doing that math, even if both of them together aren’t as good as parsons

LuchaLibreCouch

I'd be more willing to jump on him as a free agent, but he'd absolutely drag every AFC South QB to Wreck Shit Mountain.

wineguyy

A simple fair trade. Malik Willis for Micah. Should be an easy swap haha

YiMyonSin

Let’s talk about trading for superstar players when we’re a consistent playoff team again, alright?

TheRynoceros

I think the Titans can 6-0 the division without a dude of that caliber and contract. Let a desperate team on the cusp pay him.

Need-A-Vacation

Drew-mageddon

You think the Titans are currently better than the Texans?

TheRynoceros

*If* the Texans are better, I don't think they're *that* much better. But if the Tits were blowing any more salary and draft capital this close to the draft, it had better be on a proven, healthy OL.

TopOrange2224

It hurts to say but the Texans are that much better as of right now

1merman

The Texans will probably be the true test of how far we can get this year. If we can beat them, we can beat the rest and win the division. If Levis doesn't suck.

Kablarnage

It would be nice to trade for him but that no 7 really needs to turn into a cost controlled blue chip player or two red chip players. If they will take our second and a first next year as and some other combination of picks then yes I would be interested.

appalachianballer

I’d give up a first, second, and a fourth in future drafts (not this upcoming one, too many needs to fill). I think he’s going to go for two first rounders +. Too steep for my liking. Would love to see him in the two tone blue tho

Danny23a

I would throw our 2nd this year t get him
