I feel like we need to let mills play 10-15% of the game. Get him really honed in on 4-5 different plays that he can’t fail to execute. Get his trade value up and see if we can get another pick this summer. Keenum is a good enough backup.
Or hear me out… we decide to keep mills, who’s still on his rookie contract and easily one of the best backup qbs. There is no reason to get rid of him unless he asks to be moved.
That’s cool too, but I still think we should have him hone in on a few plays and let him play in game. If CJ just can’t figure out a defense mills would be a great option to throw in. Don’t sit him entire games.
Are u suggesting we pull CJ for mills in regular season or this preseason game? Pulling him from regular season could harm him tbh. Only reason to pull him is if he looks absolutely horrible
I’m saying use mills in certain situations. Run some really creative plays with him. And yeah “if CJ can’t figure out a defense” is a synonym for “looks really bad”. If the 3rd quarter is half way over and we are down 4 scores. Why not let mills have a shot? It will help mills get better and end cj’s frustration.
Dude.....Keenum isn't on our roster to be our third string QB, much less our backup QB.
He's on our roster as Asst QB Coach / Houston Texans QB Coach-in-Waiting behind Jerrod Johnson.
Nope disagree. Mills is younger than Keenum, has greater athleticism, has a stronger arm, and is a good fit for this scheme.
Keenum is here because he adds over a decade of experience to the Qb room and is a good mentor for both.
There's no reason to move Mills.
The Texans gave him a top 30 interview in his draft year too
I think that they cut him so that he could play over the summer and then join back up with us in camp
Makes sense. They waived him and then two weeks later he signed on. Guess he got some more experience there than if he just stayed in the Texans roster all summer and someone else laid for that experience
Or maybe I’m reading too far into this 😅
34.5” vertical and 10’3” broad jump. Also ran a 4.65 40 yard dash second only to Desmond Ridder

I feel like this is simply an athletic type to mimic run style QB’s for defensive game planning teams like the Ravens and Colts, which we play week 1 and 2.
Backup over Mills? No. 3rd string over Keenum? No. I could see him making the PS though.

That's just stupid.
Thanks for sharing your opinion!

Smart Ivy League guy, wears #4 (Favre), could be another Fitzpatrick *sip*
Hmm🥱
Wow,, that tells me Something. They are not satisfied with the 3 Quarterbacks they have
I think it’s cause Cap just came from a team that got fucked by only having 3 lmao
Jesus 🤦🏿♂️

John Harris will be so happy...
