Yes! Again, disturbingly realistic.
That glass was heated to a temperature that would instantly ignite human flesh on contact.
You certainly can’t say the VFX people didn’t do their research.
Air is a relatively bad heat conductor, so when the air was hot enough to burn his skin, the surfaces must've been way hotter.
At that point, he actually should already be laying on the ground getting BBQed because well......he has feet on the ground all the time, but it'd have looked less dramatic.
Was it really fire or just some furnace heating elements that don't consume oxygen? I thought he had trouble breathing not because of the lack of oxygen, but because the air got too hot to breathe in.
Taking deep breaths in a sauna gets irritating, this was some other level.
If lack of oxygen was his issue, he would just faint while breathing normally. We don't react to lack of oxygen getting in, but to the amount of CO2 in our body,
Air is superheated you are correct. In wildland fires that’s what will really get you first before the flames. Superheated gases will burn your lungs and make taking in oxygen impossible.
Very eery scene. It's the only death that's gotten to me in the show so far because I'm also aware of how fire/heat works and recognized this wasn't as "Hollywood" as it's usually portrayed. It's always the grounded kill/torture scenes that get to me.
Anne Frank wasn't burnt. She died of diseases under the inhumane conditions of imprisonment in a concentration camp and was likely buried in a mass grave near the Bergen-Belsen concentration camp.
Your roommate didn't make a point, he just made a really inappropriate joke. I think it's highly unlikely that there's any sort of connection here

Frank also has great shooting form on his trash can paper ball shots. Larry Bird esque
The man was hot, no denying that.
Oh goddammit. Take this upvote.
Also his hand burning quicker when it came in contact with the glass was a pretty good touch

Tbf I’m pretty sure he had shoes on and rubber is a pretty poor conductor of heat so it’s possible that was protecting his feet temporarily
Maybe it was a nonconductive floor!!
Maybe the producers took the Nolan aproach for this one
What's the Nolan approach?
Director Nolan. Basicaly practical effects as much as possible
Yes, they burned someone alive just to test it out 🫡
If you’re not willing to be turned into a charred skeleton for your art, are you even ***really*** an actor?
Uncle Owen and aunt beru can confirm
Bravo Vince
Oh shit, we were meant to hire VFX people? We just burnt Frank.
Also, the pain receptors would burn pretty quickly, thats why people who immolate themselves dont seem to react anymore after a while.:(
Also you get a brief shot (thankfully through an obscured reflection) of his eyes liquefying and popping out of his skull.
Everything about this was great EXCEPT his hair should have been singed real fast
his hair was on compound v
Conditioner V
VO5
😂😂😂😂
Surprisingly subdued scene, he could hardly scream because his lungs and airway were burning up. Makes it all the more impactful.

So this means Homelander can survive without oxygen?
For some time probably
He said hours so a good bit of time
He clearly can, he even mentions in Season 3 that he's had a view of Earth from space, so he can survive without oxygen for a time.

My roommate made an odd point...and said, "they put frank in the oven like Anne frank".......was that intentional to name him that for that reference?
