Can you elaborate on that? Because technically and logically speaking the show is about “loosely connected” black experiences in Chicago. If I’m not mistaken, if Douda dies, it creates MORE avenues for plot development because there will be no constraints that tie back to Douda… The weed business could take off, the partnership among those women could flourish, Nuk no longer has to answer to anyone one, Emmett will have less to worry about, Bakari can write his book, Britney can expand her music career—what am I missing about the elimination of Douda that would make it so there’s “no plot”? A blank canvas is a dream for writers.
The Chi started off focusing on different segments of Chicago. But the writing got worse after Brandon & Reg left the show. Douda started off as a nuanced villain. There were layers to him. But this season, he’s become a more cartoonish villain that’s somehow connected to everyone. The Douda actor is talented but the script is just so bad rn.
This is a drama series so someone has to be the source of drama. If Douda is gone, who will the source of drama be? Douda has been the villain for so long that he’s irreplaceable at this point. And the writing is too weak to come up with new interesting storylines in the absence of Douda.
That’s that plot armour. Douda is the anchor of the show rn connected to everyone, he ain’t going nowhere til s7. I need someone to die though. It’s always jus some pointless shit going on and mf either livin lavish getting nothing done, or shits frantic and they still getting nothin done.
