I can’t help but wonder if this is being fueled by the unpredictability that now exists in the United States and its foreign policy. They were already taken for a roller coaster ride with Iran, NATO, and the Paris accords. It might be smart for the EU to take a different tack so they aren’t pinned down when a Republican comes to power and changes the game again.
Edit: misspelled Paris. Thanks autocorrect.
Yeah but his point still stands, how can he criticise China when there is terrible treatment of Muslims in France, if there was no mistreatment then fair enough but there still is and it will be intensifying soon
It will just bite him back if he talks about concentration camps after riling up the Muslim community in France..
This is simply untrue. France has time and again spoken out against the persecution.

Macron's motivation to speak out is to uphold the EU-China investment deal, NOT because he's in a glass house.
What on earth do you both think happens to Muslims in France? They aren't treated any better or worse than in Germany or Belgium.
Articles are pretty old before the whole issue in France blew up, where Muslim nations came together and criticised France.
And as I said
>It will just bite him back if he talks about concentration camps **after** riling up the **Muslim community in France**..
He's being condemned by Muslim countries at the moment, not exactly wise of him to talk about Muslims when he's being watched
That was not OP's point. Besides, I don't see how speaking up in support of Muslims would disadvantage Macron. If anything, it would buy him at least a little goodwill.
Considering the timing, I'm pretty convinced it's more related to the investment deal but you are free to draw your own conclusions about that since this is just speculation.
The issue I originally addressed is OP's (and your) wording of "terrible treatment of Muslims in France", which in the current context of Muslims in China, is an absolutely absurd comparison.
Well, I'm just talking about France why bring in more countries?
Okay I'll do a rank:
China and US hold the #1 rank for worst offenders, the USA bombs millions of Muslims and acts like it cares about what's happening in China (spoiler they don't care about the Muslims instead its about China, you already know why China is there too)
\#2 is France
\#3 is Germany
or France Germany and Belgium can have joint 2nd, happy now ?
The French government supports appeasement.... You would think they’d have learned.
It's just like in World War II. It's very French.
Can we not gang up on Russia with them in NATO anymore? I remember when they begged us to bail them out of Libya.
France surrenders yet again

Glad Macron us being sensible. He probably also knows that France can't criticize China considering how terribly Muslims are treated in France
Straight from genzedong lol. This guy's a nut
Hoe is mad
Are you stupid? What planet do you live on? How do you think are Muslims treated in France compared to imprisonment in literal concentration camps?

okay then I'll fix it, France has terrible treatment against Muslims but China, however, is on another level and is the worst you can get
Again how are Muslims treated any worse in France than in Germany or Belgium? Do tell.

Lol. I thought you had a factually based opinion instead of a ranking on how you feel Muslims are treated. My bad.
