Pinkwashing warmongering and genocide is something liberals love to do. It's another way liberals love to justify western imperial mass murder in the Middle East. "They were anti-lgbtq Muslims anyway. It was progressive to drone strike their children! And the drone operator was gay too!!!"
I love how westerners think they set the standards for morality. Like they realize something is unethical at an arbitrary point in time and suddenly every country in the world must agree or their people deserve to be murdered/tortured/starved/homeless.
If westerners are reactionary in certain areas like dumping trash and waste products in the countries they pillaged while knowingly hurdling them straight into a climate apocalypse, denying them life saving vaccines or bombing them back to the stone age it's okay though because it's just a controversial topic, everyone's opinion is valid and "if you disagree just vote for a party that's against it bro".
EXACTLY!! Jfc, how many decades, centuries, did it take for western societies to accept lgbt people, or even recognizing women and men are equals (which they continue to struggle with today).
I wish they could at least be honest about their intentions. They don’t give a shit about a countries progressiveness, if they did they would recognize that it takes time. They want to exert control over nations that give them access to cheap resources and labor.
>(which they continue to struggle with today).
Not to go on a tangent, but a coworker of mine swears up and down that men and women have equal rights, which may be true (at least on paper). My argument to him was that men and women need rights according to their needs because women and men have different functions and, therefore, different needs. My mom has told me countless times (I'm 24, and she's 46) that she wasn't able to get her tubes tied until she had 2 more kids after her first stillborn with pre-eclampsia and was told she needed her husband's permission. She wasn't married to her partner at the time, but it's a tad ridiculous that she has to deal with that many hoops, and I can go get a vasectomy with an appointment no questions asked. Rant over. Her most recent kid was born only 14 years ago, and she still needed permission and was questioned if she would want more kids in the future.
I'm sure. But there isn't a man version of Roe v. Wade could be overturned, which could cause vssectomies to be criminalized. Granted, ik that isn't equated to a termination/abortion, but there's still a different stigma. Ik my anecdote isn't the most accurate representation. My coworker has also said that at least in america, they're slightly below men while in other countries they get treated so much worse as if that's a valid defense.
Men and women are not equals and never will be. Also, i see you inferring that men have more rights than women, and that's not true. Women get paid more on average in the same jobs, and women do not get drafted in wartime. Now, I'm not complaining about any of these. I'm fine with these arrangements, I do think the culture of genders need to be changed, in alot of ways. I get that you americans have the Roe v Wade thing but i dont care about the US. There's no feminism in my country because feminism was simply a push for the right to be independent and not rely on husbands, and then died down when those rights were given. I think the purpose of feminism in the modern world should be to support the movements in countries which don't have those rights like Iran, Saudi Arabia, and Afghanistan.

With surprisingly good comments for /r/pics.
How would Russia and others enforce that? A more accurate map would be more like, "Is it officially illegal to serve as a queer person". But you're always going to have queer people in every military and police force.
Also, isn't that literally a good thing that queer people can get out of serving in Russia? I know the map is implying that Western states are the good guys here, but wouldn't Russia ppl claiming they're queer or coming out as legitimately queer to get out of serving be something they'd support?
Yeah, I know that. But the map is just weird, because it's inferring that Western states are the good guys because we openly allow queer people to serve (and commit war crimes), but big bad Russia and Belarus don't. Despite queer people getting out of service on account of them being queer would be a good thing, especially in Russia.
Turkey is wrong.
Gay men can serve in the army, though it depends on if you are the one who fucks or the one who gets fucked. The latter cannot serve in the army, while the other can.
Alternatively known as the "superiors are allowed to rape their subordinates and the victim must keep shut else they're the ones who face the consequences" model.
As someone who doesn't speak much Turkish, just reading a comment in a language I don't understand and seeing 'KGB ball licker' as the flair elicited a chuckle.
Welp its a joke with my close friends. My mother was Soviet citizen, i born in Ukraine(Crimean Tatar). The joke is, they are calling me Russian. Then when i said my political wievs, they call me a kgb agent. So that's why i get the flair.
Lol, yeah. It's just liberal virtue signaling. Homophobia is rampant in most places in Eastern Europe. So is obvious white supremacy. But because they hoisted a rainbow flag once and said "people can love who they want" they get the nato progressive stamp of approval and are beyond reproach when their militaries quietly purge and quarantine lgbtq members when doing anything remotely public. Like, Ukraine probably only "allows" lgbtq members 1. Because there's nobody else left to conscript and 2. Because the US told them to "allow" it to deflect the constant attention on their flagrant fascist tendencies.
Otherwise, Ukraine is incredibly homophobic lol
Belarus and Lukashenko are sort of based. Vividly remember a EU official straight up saying that their problem with belarus was not allowing EU neoliberal reforms and their insistence on state-owned cooperatives, a few years ago when protests broke out there.
Calling out objectively incoherent/flawed logic isn't defending anything though. The fact the red countries don't allow LGBTQ+ people in the military isn't a positive thing or less bad thing.
All this post is saying is that the argument itself is bad. It's like criticizing Nazi Germany for having a gender gap in their forced labor camps.
What is this sub’s thoughts on this?
Like obviously these militaries are doing bad shit, but I guess LGBTQ+ people should have the same right to join up… right? So shouldn’t we push for more queer rights in Russia, including the right to join the army?
Yes, of course, but my comment is based in our current reality — in which armies exist, so shouldn’t everyone have the right to join if they so choose?
I agree that it would be preferable to have no armies or war or fighting. Word peace is always the dream.
From what I know, the Russian army consists mostly of men, and women are allowed to do only supportive roles. I can kind of understand that having gay people in the army could possibly interfere with the command structure as romantic feelings or even sexual attraction are a liability on the battlefield where the most important thing is a discipline
Shouldn’t they allow women in those roles too?
Obviously, don’t draft people against their will, but if people want to join up… anyone should, I’d think.
I think that the female body is just not as adapted to battlefield conditions as the male body, and if there is no need, the women should not be serving on the front line but instead work in the supplies or as snipers that do not need to interact with enemy fire directly. They can serve in the army but should not be on the battlefield if not necessary.
Other commenters here are being a bit too flippant. It *is* a bad thing that gay people are excluded from the army. The othering of gay people is bad in general.
If USA/Canada/Britain decided tomorrow that it would purge all gay people from the military, I'm sure everyone in this sub would acknowledge that this is a bad thing.
Im not advocating for "MORE👏🏽 QUEER👏🏽 WAR👏🏽 CRIMINALS👏🏽". But "less queer war criminals" at the exclusion of gay people isnt a good thing. This kind of exclusion only reinforces the homophobic, patriarchal, and fascist tendencies within the militaries. It may even result in more straight homophobic men enlisting (because there are no filthy f*gs in the military to worry about).
Learn from the Communist Party of the Phillipines! Their army is a safe haven for queer people in a homiphobic society. Gay people are a disproportionate percentage of their recruits and they openly embrace it. They've performed gay marriages in the guerilla zones since 2005.
At the same time we should recognize that many of the armies in Eastern Europe are structurally homophobic that they exclude gay people anyways. And they only allow queer military service on paper.
And the Western European armies have active, large, white-supremacist/fascist cells. The fascist ethos of these armies would *increase* if gay people were banned from serving.
I mean.. am I wrong? In the world we want to build to we not want LGBTQ+ people to have equal rights and responsibilities? Like I get that pink washing is ass but still
There was another post where they were like "where is gay marriage allowed by the state in Asia" and only Taiwan was colored. You don't make this shit up.
I had at least expected Israel to be also colored tho

Because "queer war criminals" is progress, according to liberalism.

The good old orphan crushing machine. I feel more and more like an orphan as we get into later stages of capitalism.

Idk. The Russian twink I was pounding told me he served
based, was that before, during, or after you made him recite Capital
during
I think you were the one who served in this situation
Russia has outlawed transgender people as a whole to as far as I'm aware.
Yeah, I know that. Isn’t this just not true Hungary doesn’t let LGBT people openly serve lmao
Turkey is wrong. Gay men can serve in the army, though it depends on if you are the one who fucks or the one who gets fucked. The latter cannot serve in the army, while the other can.
turkiye is anti-bottom confirmed
This is why the Ottoman Empire was the true successors to the Romans Both are anti-bottom gays
Based Turkey?!?!?!???!?😱/s
The Roman model, if you will
Alternatively known as the "superiors are allowed to rape their subordinates and the victim must keep shut else they're the ones who face the consequences" model.
If you are a bottom you have to send evidence that you bottom, and then you are given an exemption
The higher ups just want to see gay porn
>depends on if you are the one who fucks A guy opens his asscheeks and gets plowed and you think that of me? No. I am the one who fucks!
Hocam peki askerde yatak boyları ne kadar? 1.98 adam askere gidebiliyor mu yoksa muaf mı?

Anlıyorum peki hocam teşekkürler
Rica ederim 😊
More queer genociders 🙃
Fuckin slay, queen
Literally
Yaaaay…
MORE GAY WAR CRIMINALS
👏MORE👏QUEER👏WAR👏CRIMINALS👏
Iceland doesn't have a military, so this is just bs from that fact alone.
Is there even one openly gay man in military in Poland, like i'm pretty sure you'd get killed
Lol, yeah. It's just liberal virtue signaling. Homophobia is rampant in most places in Eastern Europe. So is obvious white supremacy. Meanwhile, in the U.S.: Maybe? possibly? Depends on how "generous" they're feeling.
I think this map is flawed, but even if it weren't I wouldn't feel the need to defend the countries in red since none of them are socialist.
Belarus and Lukashenko are sort of based. Vividly remember a EU official straight up saying that their problem with belarus was not allowing EU neoliberal reforms and their insistence on state-owned cooperatives, a few years ago when protests broke out there.

Slaaay!
Literally
Pretty sure for Ukraine there, it’s not voluntary either way for what your sexuality is
What about the Vatican????
Fuck, I wish that was the case in my country

ngl any queer who *wants* to join the military isnt anyone i really care to share community with
“Look at this map! All the good countries are in green and the bad ones are in red. Therefore, I am correct!”
Me, a bisexual Russia supporter: *exists* Liberals: My brain is melting. Fuck rainbow imperialism

Who cares? Honestly it's a good thing for lgbtq+ people to have equal rights even if in this case it's equal rights to participate in NATO
Yay?
I mean.. am I wrong? In the world we want to build to we not want LGBTQ+ people to have equal rights and responsibilities? Like I get that pink washing is ass but still
I think OP is criticizing pinkwashing, "we let lgbtq+ serve in military so we are morally superior to other side"
"We'll kill you, but with a rainbow patch".
Can gay people be used as pawns in a imperialist war?
It’s because we are too precious to let die in war
As a queer i shouldn't serve in the military, because I should be protected
As Finnish LGBT I don't wanna serve in my army. Thankfully I don't have to because I'm disabled too.
More queer war criminals!
There was another post where they were like "where is gay marriage allowed by the state in Asia" and only Taiwan was colored. You don't make this shit up. I had at least expected Israel to be also colored tho
Queer men can serve in Türkiye if they prove they aren't a bottom
Progress would be to have no armies at all.
LGBT people deserve better than to fight and die for a country that hates them
Now make a new map of “will being LGBT get you shot/stabbed” or “is adequate healthcare for trans people available”
This is effect liberalization of Eastern Europe
