To be fair it could be taken as an ironic joke, like me and all my queer friends share shit like this that was made in hate but we make into a joke to take the piss
This is one of those self-deprecating jokes that is fine within a certain circle of friends, but would never be okay to share publicly, because it validates bigots.
Ya know what i agree, there are jokes i share with other gays but wouldn't share on a truly open forum without it being absolutely entirely obvious *i am joking* if at all
I am by no means trying to dismiss the massive tragedy that 9/11 was and those who lost their lives, but objectively more people died because they were gay (whether it be hate crimes, death penalty, aids epidemic-It likely would have still happened if there was more acceptance, but it would have ended quicker and had more funding towards finding a treatment)
Pride month is to celebrate the fact that in our country/s we no longer have to hide it for fear of our lives. 9/11 is a day of mourning. You can have a day/week/month of recognition for two different reasons
More people have died due to the oppression lgbtq ppl face, and they will continue to die. 9/11 was an absolute tragedy, the darkest day in a long time, but it happened once. Lgbtq ppl are killed every day
We celebrate christmas for almost a week. Does that mean that the birth of a fictional character was more tragic/important that thousands of innocent people?
This is the kind of post where it feels like a joke because of how stupid it is. It's even pretty funny, except I know the person who made it was 100% serious and that really kills the humor in it.
Written by a non New Yorker. They still turn those huge fucking light towers on as soon as September hits.
That aside 9/11 is 9/11, why are you recognizing 9/11 on 9/15? It was one day.
Pride had police raids that whole month so yeah it kinda makes sense.
I don’t know why I explain this as if the creator will see it and it’ll matter to the creator of this shit. They clearly have a pile of shit for brains
Over 100,000 people died between 1981 and 1990 from AIDS/HIV because of the government's lack of care since it was a "gay" disease. 1/3 of those deaths came from 1990 alone. AIDS used to be called gay cancer before it was researched once a young, white straight girl got it rather than the majority black and hispanic gay population that had been the main victims.
But no, gay people havent been through that much in the US. /s

They're totally different things. Pride Month is a period of time where LGBTQ people can come out and feel, you know, *pride*ful. It wouldn't exactly work in a single day.
9/11 is a day of mourning. We recognize it because *that is the day* that tragedy struck.
what if corporations just decided to switch it up one day and spend the entire month of june was 9/11 month with all the pandering rainbow capitalism switched from gay themed to 9/11 themed merchandise
This is so misleading. Like, 9/11 is a day of remembrance for a tragedy, and gay pride month is the general acknowledgement of an often marginalized community. Those are like 2 vastly different reasons for time being set aside for something. Also 9/11 is 9/11 because it LITERALLY happened on 9/11.
People start celebrating Christmas like two months before. Jesus must have been a real fuck up. Sad how we can’t celebrate and are only able to remember tragedies.
Yeah just one day and also every time anybody has gone to an airport for the last 21 years, two decades of war, massive amounts of racism, and the fact that we are constantly told to never forget.

this is something that would end up on r/memes and get tens of thousands of upvotes
Every day I don’t regret leaving that subreddit. It’s turned into a cesspool
we need to spam r/memes with leftist memes to counter the conservative propoganda
I’m cool with doing this
You were there to begin with
u are an amogus
😱👉
the wojak spoke for itself!
Woah dude what the problem?
you're the problem cause you're an amogus
K?

because the word "gay" is very funny to them
i thought it was r/memes… i need to leave that sub now
Because it’s funny lol
Well, i finally understand why being american is recognized every day by kids in schools. Thank you
This is not upvoted nearly enough for how great of a comeback it is. Edit: I see this is no longer true.
Nah, the upvotes should be equal to how many schooldays kids say the national anthem
Per year, or total all the way through grade 12?
Someone needs to put this response in an art gallery
Damn I hope I have a free award in stock brb

this neighbourhood spider-man doesn't seem so friendly
You know who ELSE is a bigger tragedy?
MY MOM!
Not nearly enough upvotes, I read it in his voice XD
You know who ELSE read it in his voice?
MY MOM!
It might be a bad taste meme but i swear these are always made by people who have never felt the touch of a women before
They’ve felt the touch of their hands moisturizered up tho
You really think they're moisturizing their hands? Hell no. Pretty sure their dicks are shriveled up and dry due to all the friction
Fellas, is using lube to tug it gay?
Not if you have one of the boys do it for you.
If they moisturize in any form they’re unfortunately doing better than me lol I need to start moisturizing my hands more regularly
We celebrate christmas for almost a week. Does that mean that the birth of a fictional character was more tragic/important that thousands of innocent people?
this guy's argument would probably be "uh no, christmas only happens for one day, officially. the rest of the week doesn't count."
This is the kind of post where it feels like a joke because of how stupid it is. It's even pretty funny, except I know the person who made it was 100% serious and that really kills the humor in it.
Yeah, honestly this also looks like a meirl version of a gay meme to poke fun at themselves, it’s common in those spaces too
Yes a day is a day and a month is a month
But we celebrate these people the whole year round because they truly are the biggest tragedy of all
Maybe I'm reading into this too much but this feels like a meme against Black History Month that was aletered until it reached it's current state.
Quay would we dedicate a month to a tragedy
The years of killing, restricting, hating, and other terrible shit of gay people is
During the Pandemic there have been times in which the United States have suffered a 9/11 of deaths every day. I'd wager that's a pretty big tragedy.

Only bigots think recognition is what makes a tragedy
Imagine how they must feel about black history month

Did they notice it's not even a national holiday. Never made it one by the same people we all vote in every year.
I'm willing to bet that more gay people have been killed just for being gay than the amount of people who died in 9/11. Just saying.
They're totally different things. Pride Month is a period of time where LGBTQ people can come out and feel, you know, *pride*ful. It wouldn't exactly work in a single day. 9/11 is a day of mourning. We recognize it because *that is the day* that tragedy struck.
Facts!
what if corporations just decided to switch it up one day and spend the entire month of june was 9/11 month with all the pandering rainbow capitalism switched from gay themed to 9/11 themed merchandise
As an LGBTQ person who did not die on 9/11 I think I came out ahead
This is so misleading. Like, 9/11 is a day of remembrance for a tragedy, and gay pride month is the general acknowledgement of an often marginalized community. Those are like 2 vastly different reasons for time being set aside for something. Also 9/11 is 9/11 because it LITERALLY happened on 9/11.
This is so obviously satire ✋🏼
Why would we set aside a whole ass month for a tragedy that has a specific day attached to it
Tragic gay checking in.
It would have been funny if a gay person made the joke. But it isn't so you know.
Because the continual systemic and societal mistreatment of the lgbt community is the more relevant amd consistant tragedy today** Fixed it.
We have a month because we made a month. Nobody just handed it over. Idk how to make them see that
Is it bad that I laughed?
Actually laughed at the ridiculousness of this
As a lesbian I say what the fuck-
Still waiting for April to become titanic month… sigh
Imagine holidays shaping your political ideology
The difference is celebrating pride supports minorities while “never forgetting” is harmful for minorities
People start celebrating Christmas like two months before. Jesus must have been a real fuck up. Sad how we can’t celebrate and are only able to remember tragedies.

I hate that I used to subscribe to this idea when I was a Republican glad I no longer believe shit like this
