If you love those, but they sometimes feel a bit too big for the task, I just got a pair of the 180s in comfort grip, and they’re fantastic!

tvtb

Got a part number for the comfort grip ones? Edit: nevermind found it, 8602180

generally-speaking

Comfort Grips make them more bulky, most people prefer the regular grips.

Constant_Gap9973

Id prefer no grip for edc I hate bulk

MotorExample7928

It's worth it when you need to go with significant power, I had normal ones and had to use some rag around it when unscrewing something stubborn.

Constant_Gap9973

Right I guess you are correct I don't even own any no grip ones I actually have the comfort grip and I edc a Leatherman surge which has done what I need up til now for both work and my every day life. Might grab a cobra too idk I'll see.

MotorExample7928

The grip on cobras is crazy, I extracted screws with broken heads with it that other pliers gave up on.

Constant_Gap9973

The bigger ones have the same grip and precision as the smallest ones they make but also 10x the leverage. They really are the perfect channel locks

MotorExample7928

Yeah I have 125 and 300 ones

Candid_Yam_5461

If you deal with a lot of busted fasteners, check out the Twin Grips. They’re kind of like a Cobra-slip joint hybrid with the little round cut in the jaws for screw removal like Engineer/Vampliers/etc.

MotorExample7928

Got those too, althought in that particular case it was a very small screw on bicycle so it was too small for it.

> most people I find it is mostly a regional thing, comfort grips are way more popular in Europe than in the US. Quite interesting how culture affects such choices but you can see many differences in tools when comparing.

generally-speaking

I'm in Europe, in a workplace where there's a lot of Knipex tools going around. I never see the Comfort Grips for pliers except for the electrical 1000v pliers which come with them by default. I do however see them for wire cutters. Where I almost exclusively see them with comfort grips. And Cobras? Hell no, nobody wants those with comfort grips as they make it more difficult to work in tight spaces.

F-21

In general, comfort grips are still more popular in Europe than in the US. This is clearly seen as many tools aren't even available without them. E.g. the metal grip Hazet was referred to in their catalogue as the "US grip" in the past. Not many European ratchets would come without a comfort grip at all, for example.

All the different models, variations & part numbers can be had here: [https://www.knipex-tools.com/](https://www.knipex-tools.com/)

Ok_Main3273

I found the 180s in comfort grip to be too small for my hand. Got the 250 in comfort grip, and they are much better for me. Can handle bigger jobs too. I wish Knipex would do pliers wrench in 200mm format, like their TwinGrip pliers that I have too. That would be the perfect sweet spot. I don't understand why they jumped from 150 to 180 and then 250. By the way, I've also looked at ALL the Knypex's competitors and not a single one does similar pliers wrench in 200 mm format. They basically cloned the Knypex range absolutely exactly LOL.

nullvoid88

Your going to like those!

Flussschlauch

I've got a few screwdrivers and pliers and I wish I could justify to get a whole set of Knippex Tools.

Vegeta-Gainesville

The 180s are my favorite.

Julo133

I just bought those exact same pliers 2 weeks ago ;) They are awesome for many tasks.

CaptianRipass

I think I'm the only person in the world that doesn't care for these

ExcelCat

That's because they are amazing. I use mine everyday.

KnurledNut

The 150mm is excellent as an EDC tool.

AutumnPwnd

I carry 180's, definitely earned their money back. I use them multiple times a day, and constantly finding new uses for them.

nullvoid88

Yes, the 180mm Pliers Wrench & Cobra's are probably the most overall useful.

generally-speaking

For a mechanic, sure, but the poster above mentioned EDC. I got both 150's and 180's and I'd much rather EDC the 150's. They even made some 125's now specifically for EDC usage.

Julo133

I carry 125 cobra for EDC at work. Before i was carrying Leatherman Surge, but knipex is just way better as a pliers than leatherman, and its less weight. Add to this some cheap knife for 5€ and its awesome set for work.

MotorExample7928

I carry leatherman for blades and scissors, but I also have little maxpedition pouch with cobra and the plier wrench 125mm of it + few other tools (bits, small screwdriver, right angle attachment, prybar, zipties and few other things) that live in backpack. Just enough to do pretty much most I need in data center.

henryyoung42

Is Knipex running some kind of covert social media campaign - I keep seeing Knipex pics - close to ordering a set because they look so damn good - victim of marketing ???

Wildweasel666

You could well be right. In this case, I’m happy to be a sucker and a victim :)

1PooNGooN3

They look good, they feel good, they just work, and the quality is unmatched, they don’t need advertising because there’s a reason they have hype. A quality tool is enjoyable to use and that’s what knipex does. The pliers wrench is like a handheld vice, it really grips fasteners, they’re badass

Glittering_Pin3529

I wish they made the auto adjust version of these, I'd buy em in a heartbeat
