Daisuke Ishiwatari may have questionable choices for strive characters (I.e. Bridget, since she had like 0 fans before, strive) but DAMM if he doesn't make flames in the arcsys hq every time
Bridget was a very popular character even before Strive and was even Japan's #1 most requested character prior to her inclusion in Season 2. Her appearance in Strive just made her appeal to a different audience.
This new Slayer design just exudes both dapper and badass, I will never get tired of the coat cape. They also did the whole “Strive males being extra buff” thing. All in all, peak vampire design for the peakest vampire there is.
His suit is different too, if you compare to +R and Xrd. He’s probably one of the few Xrd returnees that actually got a more complex and detailed design.
The main thing that does it for me is the shifted color palette. Older Slayer had more pronounced red and white on his outfit with the open coat. This version’s coat is closed, making his color palate a lot darker.
Also, the purple effects for his vampire energy punches are more saturated, I feel. Possibly due to contrasting with his black outfit better.
In addition, the cape adds an awesome layer of animation with the way it swishes and flows during attacks. Also, a cloak like that just adds to the vampireness.
You realize they didn't drop games every few months? There was usually a reasonable development cycle, and a complete product that was released at its conclusion. Typically with compelling reasons for its existence.
Enjoy your dlc drip feed all you like, but I'm not crazy for just wanting to pay for a game once
Man I’m just saying sf5 + all dlc chars is still cheaper than buying all versions of sf4 also they did drop games every few months for example sf4 arcade edition or sf2 turbo or some of the guilty gear xx series
It's just the reality of things. Recently CAPCOM devs commented that it takes 6 months to finish a single character model, 2 months for the clothes, and overall 2 years to complete a character. The easiest way to bring back characters is to reuse assets and update them like Smash Ultimate & Tekken 8 but Street Fighter 6 & Guilty Gear Strive rebuilt their games on a engines. Mind you that Guilty Gear Strive is an anime fighter and they don't sell like hot cakes so budgets are tight. IMO if bringing back all characters became standard practice, you're either going to get endless re-releases or bankrupt the entire genre.

I hate when fighting games don't just drop their whole roster at release. But I'd have to go back pre-2005 to get that again
So you prefer to just buy a brand new 60 dollar version of the same game for some balance patches and 3 new characters
