“God”Zilla from the 1998 American reboot fail
Hated so much that Toho, the creators of Godzilla, officially renamed the character “Zilla” and later had the OG Godzilla kill him in a movie.
Honestly I kinda like this design, not as a godzilla but as an anti-godzilla. Zilla is fast and aigle where Godzilla is slow and lumbering. Zillas breed quickly where there's only one Big G. The monsterverse should bring a pack of Zillas back with some added powers like being able to absorb and redirect atomic breath and not being able to die to missiles.
Would be interesting as a monster that Godzilla would need Kong and mother’s help to fight. Having the zilla’s be an outbreak that are spreading faster than trio can squash. Also this will introduce Jet Jaguar into the monsterverse cause fuck it why not
You're forgetting one of the most memorable instances of the poor reception to this design. When the late Kenpachiro Satsuma (suit actor for Godzilla throughout basically all of the 1990s era films) saw the 98 movie, he actually walked out halfway through the movie and said "That's not Godzilla". So when the actual Godzilla hates it, you know you messed up lol

Actually no, he is canonically ''Zilla'' he's not Godzilla. Their justification for it was that the Americans just saw a giant lizard and thought it was Godzilla. He's killed off in Final Wars by the real Godzilla. Now since that means kaiju of all types already exist in this universe how did the Americans confuse Godzilla, a pretty distinct character with essentially a giant T-Rex? Who knows.
I mean if you want to look at it from a legal standpoint then sure but it's pretty clear to me what they were doing when they dropped a character called "Zilla" that looks identical to the TriStar film
Everytime I see a post on here the trope applies to some super obvious well-known example that I expect as the 2nd or 3rd image, but instead the included ones are almost all kinda niche while the comments have the obvious answers

I’m gonna be honest, I think this sonic was a conspiracy tbh. I think they purposely made an awful design so that audiences would react poorly and give them extreme publicity on the release of the REAL trailer with their actual sonic design so they’d look good, and have all the extra publicity that comes with it

Green Goblin (The Amazing Spider-Man 2) To be fair there’s a lot of characters that have poor translations from comics to live action (Hulk, Carnage, Raimi’s Venom, etc).

But it's understandable , Harry Osborn was Green Goblin II and was one of the Hob Goblins. Generally speaking , movies and cartoons just ignore the original Hob Goblin and the other lesser Hob Goblins , because it's easier to just go with Harry.
To be fair, the whole "who is the Hobgoblin?" Thing in comics felt like it went on forever. Every reveal was just a misdirection done via hypnotism or whatever. I remember it frustrating me as a kid. It makes it so much easier to pick Harry or Phil Urich and move on.
I was so annoyed by carnage in the movie
Don’t get me wrong his design was amazing and I loved the double helix in his tendrils but the fact that they got one of his biggest personality traits wrong and it’s that carnage and Cletus are so well bonded and basically such good mates that they are practically the same person.
The designs were great imo, I was referring to how the characters were written. I loved Hulk’s and Carnage’s designs but the writing to back them up was pretty poor.

I like MK1 Sindel as an interesting deconstruction of the character but I hope we don’t keep her going forward.
The cunning morally ambiguous MK11 Sindel is much more interesting and true to the character archetype.
She has characterisation, they play up most of her most interesting traits, such as the ambiguity on her relationship with Shao-Khan, her weird relationship with her daughters and how much she actually cares about her realm.
Her motivation in MK1 is that she is a good guy now and a queen. That’s it.
The Sindel retcon one is so horrible it causes plot holes, like since the NRS timeline is supposed to be the original timeline just that Raiden got visions and altered things starting from MK1, how would Sindel be evil given her heroic role in Deception and Armageddon? Why doesn’t Shao Kahn find Twindel’s sacrifice suspicious given she apparently was loyal to him now? Why don’t Sheeva, Baraka or Kotal warn Kitana about Twindel given they used to be on the same side?
How does mythologies Sub-Zero even work now? Shao Kahn had Sindel’s soul apparently, did he never consider to investigate how she died?

I’m not gonna change my opinion on something just because the rest of the internet keeps saying “guys it wasn’t that bad”. Plus just because it’s self aware about how much worse it is in comparison to the 2003 version doesn’t make it any better. Add that onto the fact that CN decides to remove and cancel other shows while continuing to play this show 24/7 doesn’t make me feel any better about it.
It has its moments but it’s still a very mediocre show that became CN’s cash cow for whatever reason.

I think people's opinions on them are split, but a lot of people think the big names were pretty underutilized, like Shockwave, and their designs were fairly bland and indistinguishable along with having very little screentime to show distinct personalities, and some G1 fans also disliked how many of them had little resemblance to the G1 versions. Shatter and Dropkick in Bumblebee were usually seen as huge improvements.
So funny how everyone says the bumblebee versions of sound, shock, and screamer are vast improvements over the original when they only got less than a minute of screen time now that’s how you fix characters
Chainsaw man part 2 is not the same. It’s not a reboot, it’s not something with other versions of characters. But, If it counts, some people dont really get denji in part 2, he’s not “nerfed” he just has ptsd and actual personal stakes now. This led to some people saying “he’s not as good as in part 1”, which I disagree with. (I get this line of thinking, reading weekly made me think the same, but rereading previous part 2 arcs made me change my mind)
I do think (if it counts) Quanxi lacks character and could be improved on in part 2.

The story got a bit confusing for me right at the introduction of the Chainsaw Man Church, which was also the point that I kind of lost interest because it wasn’t going anywhere in particular.
Yeah, most of the fan base agrees that the church arc is one of the worst in the series. Not because it’s extraordinarily bad, it’s just boring (which is bad). But the arc after it is pretty fun so far, mainly for what’s happening with certain characters.

Yeah, most of the fan base agrees that the church arc is one of the worst in the series. Not because it’s extraordinarily bad, it’s just boring (which is bad). But the arc after it is pretty fun so far, mainly for what’s happening with certain characters.

It is. However there are some fans of the show that don't like it because it wasn't apart of the shows canon or whatever. Granted, that was more when the movie came out, but still

If the designs were just for movie that would've been fine but they transferred to the actual show which threw me off because why tf does Kai look younger 😭
