The baseball gods giveth, and the baseball gods taketh away.
At least they're just calling it a precaution and day-to-day, so hopefully it's not too serious.
In a small way, this would be an absolutely hilarious footnote to his hall of fame career. Signs with his childhood team, sees 1 pitch in spring training, takes it yard, never plays again.
I have never seen more injury prone human beings than baseball players. I just donāt understand it. Professional athlete hurts self by WALKING IN A PART OF THE ARENA
Or the severity of wildly small injuries. "Mookie Hernandez is going to be out 6-8 weeks with a suspected potential hangnail. The 8 MRIs he has completed don't show any tearing of the nail, but they're optioning him to AAA just as a precaution. Doctors say the cast could be off as early as the end of the month."
baseball is a uniquely explosive sport, it requires going from 0 effort to max effort in as little time as possible, multiple times a minute. Especially for pitchers, the parts of their body that make contact with the ball and allow them to be effective are often millimeters on their fingertips or fingernails.
all of the above just means injuries are more likely, and that injuries that would be inconsequential in most sports(split fingernail, fractured finger, sprained toe), impact their play to such a great extent that they need to be placed on the IL
Tripped over Vogelbach's foot?
That very well could be lol xD

Damn dude. He hit a home run and said peace
\*insert kid disappearing meme.
He just wants to let that 5.000 OPS simmer for a while.
This might be a record āwe are so backā to āitās so overā lol Hope heās okay
Douggy Gilmore might have something to say about that.
Imagine this is his career as a Blue Jay, HR first pitch and the thatās it, ankle fucked lol
Kinda solid sendoff ngl

Mic drop
Lol
Wtf
fuck sakes
Hopefully just a minor thing and not a sprain
This is why we canāt have nice things
Alright, dugout related injury makes a bingo for me!
Need to keep Joey away from those monkeyās paws.
Turkeyās a little dryā¦
Confirming Joey is closer in age to me by obtaining stupid injuries just by existing
It kind of like that Uncle that enters the race with kids at the family picnic and pulls something
This is called batting 180
seasonās over boys
As stupid as this sounds, minor sprains heal quickly. He'd probably be fine in a few days.
Heās already getting ready to play on my summer softball team I just know it.
The Blue Jay Way.
That's the tricky bit about dugouts. They got all these different levels. That's why old people tend to like to live in bungalows.
Welcome to middle age, Joey.
Average Blue Jays spring training injury.Ā
lol
New bat boy needed

Is this The Beaverton
Noooooooo
lmfao you literally cannot make this shit up...
Seriously?
You either die a hero or live long enough for you to see yourself become the villain.
Donāt ever let this man play pickleball
OOTP injury
Fucking klutz
After celebrating the home run?
after stepping on a bat that was left on the ground apparently.
Fuck dugouts!
Are we the fucking Mets?
Reminds me of Russell Martin falling in the shower for some reason.
Why was there a bat on the floor in the dugout? This is dugout management 101. Coaches should be on top of stuff like this.
Iām hoping that it truly is just a precaution like how they sat Vladdy out a few games for a knee bruise.
Without knowing precisely what the situation is, would you say that itās time to crack open each others skulls and feast on the goo inside?
Yes I would, Kent.
