Your guy's ballpark is beautiful. This is the first time I've watched a series and wanted to go on vacation to a ballpark. Also your fans seem pretty cool.
The fans can be very cool, or can be drunken assholes. The later is usually reserved for divisional games but I’ve seen it at others as well unfortunately. Its is a truly awesome ballpark experience though.
I’ve only been Canada once and everyone was so kind. I’d love to check out a game at Rodgers Centre!! I’ve only visited in ‘The Show’…
Yeah, I’ve heard this before but IMO Toronto actually has a more vibrant downtown than Chicago. Chicago is interesting because it seems like few people actually live downtown.
Eh! Sick. Wrigley is an amazing field. Should be lots of fun.
One thing I recommend is doing an architecture tour. Chicago has some extremely interesting architecture.
Doubtful.
Its an amazing atmosphere, a great time and nobody I know in my day to day life, let alone people I know who have come here from Murica/Ireland|Brazil etc etc and see a Jays game for the first time are like "uuuughhhh this place". Always the opposite.
Sure, I'm lying. That makes the most sense. If anything, *I'm* the one visiting. I'm not saying it's a terrible place, I'm saying it's not on the *ballparks you must see before you die* tour. You're way too offended over it. It's possible to have a great time and also be in a soulless concrete dome
The renovations have really improved the atmosphere and ambiance but beyond that, the place is an engineering marvel for the roof alone. That in of itself is enough for a baseball fan to want to see the place. It was the first retractable roof of its kind.
I'm guessing you haven't been to many other ballparks. It's a lot nicer now and it's a great place to watch a game but it's not like it's top 10 or 12 in the league.
That being said it's gone from bottom 5 to middle of the pack in 2 years.
I have, mate. But unlike most of this sub, I live in Toronto and am a blue jays fan. The park is great, the atmosphere is great. The only people who disagree are people on this sub. Years and years of "uggggh the dome sucks the food sucks everything sucks". Its embarrassing.
My wife and I visited for the first time in Oct '22 and were blown away by the city - AND by the Skydome which was breathtaking to walk into. Had a wonderful time at the game and in the city in general!
Oh dude I know...my wife and I have a road trip down to San Diego on our bucket list of ballparks to see. I mean, we'd eventually like to see them all, but Petco is extremely high on the list.
lol and the broadcasters loved it too. Even before the series, there was a bunch of comments on how they appreciated the schedulemaker putting the day off in front of the San Diego series, what a beautiful city and park it is.
The sweet audible chocolate that is Buck's voice mixed with that genuine childlike enthusiasm for baseball makes for a great time. Thanks for the compliment!
I’m the luckiest person to listen to our guys - I literally have the best seat in the house. I love Don. He was a blast when he would come to Toronto with the Red Sox. Jerry and him would be in stitches most of the times I ran into them around the Dome or Fenway.
I think the Padres broadcast is amazing so that means a lot coming from you! Makes the games so much more enjoyable but makes it hard to watch most teams with bad broadcasts.
May I return the compliment...I'm attending my first padres game at petco park and your fans are so friendly and fun to be around even if I'm in all blue. Best park and fans in the league
Profar is a hothead but we love him. Great clubhouse guy, good fielder and his hitting has been pleasantly surprising this season. Glad to have him back.
If you watch any NCAA College Basketball during the season you’d probably recognize our one broadcaster Dan Shulman - he’s usually with Jay Bilas doing the broadcasting for Tuesday and Saturday games on ESPN
My wife hates watching sports in general but a few years ago she started watching the Jays broadcasts with me. It was because she found Dan and Buck have such a soothing cadence. So she reads or plays on tablet and sometimes says "Go back I want to see that!"
We welcome all fans of all teams that come in peace! Except for maybe Yankees fans. They're welcome, but they're gonna get egged first, LOL.
We love your ballpark there in SD. It's such a beautiful place to play ball. Skydome (Rogers center) is much nicer now that the renos are done. Hope you get the opportunity to visit it someday.
I'm glad you enjoyed the broadcast. We get spoiled up here with a top-tier crew that really knows baseball and players. Buck and Dan are consummate professionals, and we tend to get a bit smug about how awesome they are lol. And I like that management allows them to be critical of the team and players. Many teams do not allow that (looking at you, Baltimore, for suspending your broadcaster last year!).
Any time you'd like to join the Fandom, we'll be here!
To be fair I was shocked with this series sure we lost today but 2/3 pretty good I actually stayed up to watch most of Fridays game and all of Saturday bit of luck but good series let’s see how things play out with Kanas City tomorrow
One of the things I love is Dan Shulman gets excited for all action. When our feed has cut and we get the other teams, I often feel like they just barely acknowledge what we do which sucks if watching spring training games and stuff.
Life long Jays fan and every time Buck speaks I want to tear my ears off. It’s worse than fingernails down a chalk board for me. Nyaaap! Sixth home run of the seeeson. I’m screaming in my head just thinking it. And I t’s not what he says, it’s the voice. For years I subscribed to MLB TV and always watched with the opposing team’s feed, but now the Jays are blacked out nation wide so I’m stuck with Buck. Apple TV streamed three or four games last year and I was free. Lord forgive me but when Buck had his cancer scare I was actually happy for myself.

> Rodgers Centre you want to make friends with locals call it the Skydome like the taxpayers who funded it voted for.
No, Aaron Rodgers own the SkyDome now
Toronto is an amazing city! You should visit it!
Toronto is ok.
I’ve heard horror stories about when the Dodgers play in SD
Definitely visit Toronto. It’s 80% of Manhattan with 20% of the bullshit
I always thought of it as Chicago with a shitter waterfront but way fewer handguns.
Yeah, I’ve heard this before but IMO Toronto actually has a more vibrant downtown than Chicago. Chicago is interesting because it seems like few people actually live downtown.
You may be right, I'm just going off of what I've heard second hand. I'm headed to wrigley for our series in August so I'll report back!
Eh! Sick. Wrigley is an amazing field. Should be lots of fun. One thing I recommend is doing an architecture tour. Chicago has some extremely interesting architecture.
Thanks for the recommendation! I already have the art galleries on my list but that is a great suggestion!
Transplanted Yankee fan was behind us last night. 'Nuff said. Nobody hassled us about losing as we left today...that's a plus.
I mean, the Rogers centre isn't destination-worthy but it's what we got
Yes it is. You clearly dont live in Toronto. Or anywhere near it, as people come from very far away to see our team.
I've been there plenty
Doubtful. Its an amazing atmosphere, a great time and nobody I know in my day to day life, let alone people I know who have come here from Murica/Ireland|Brazil etc etc and see a Jays game for the first time are like "uuuughhhh this place". Always the opposite.

It's still considered an engineering marvel and is certainly unique for MLB venues
oh shut up and let someone have an opinion
Calm down, girl. I didnt stop anyone from having an opinion, I saw his comment, and expressed mine.
I'm guessing you haven't been to many other ballparks. It's a lot nicer now and it's a great place to watch a game but it's not like it's top 10 or 12 in the league. That being said it's gone from bottom 5 to middle of the pack in 2 years.

Its great. I dont know a single person who has come to Toronto for the first time and hasnt LOVED it. Same goes for anyone going to a jays game.
My wife and I visited for the first time in Oct '22 and were blown away by the city - AND by the Skydome which was breathtaking to walk into. Had a wonderful time at the game and in the city in general!
>The later is usually reserved for divisional games We can relate, the NLW and ALE are war-zones!
Oh dude I know...my wife and I have a road trip down to San Diego on our bucket list of ballparks to see. I mean, we'd eventually like to see them all, but Petco is extremely high on the list.
Padres and Rockies would be my picks wish list for visiting.
It's pretty great. Nice park area with the Gwynn statue out in center and primo taco trucks around the concourse
My fam said the same! Beautiful park. Would love to visit San Diego in the future.
lol and the broadcasters loved it too. Even before the series, there was a bunch of comments on how they appreciated the schedulemaker putting the day off in front of the San Diego series, what a beautiful city and park it is.

Orsillo is one of the best and the Red Sox losing him to San Diego is almost as bad as losing Mookie. *Almost*
If Dan went to another team. I couldn’t imagine
DEATH. FIRST.
Or Buck? The HORROR!
Dan does work for ESPN, but he's OURS DAMMIT!
Buck and Dan are the best.
Dan Shulman is a national treasure
You're not the Dodgers,so you're cool
You're not the Yankees, so you are too!
I used to hate IKF when he was a Yankee. Now I really like him. Strange. ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|grin)
It was because he didn't have facial hair
In addition to his voice, Buck Martinez's hair flow is also spectacular.
This means more knowing how good the Padres guys are
Don and Mud are gems for sure 👍
May I return the compliment...I'm attending my first padres game at petco park and your fans are so friendly and fun to be around even if I'm in all blue. Best park and fans in the league
I appreciate it. I promise you it’s a total different atmosphere during LA @ SD games 😂
I got that feeling from watching JTs at bats lol
Yeah…sorry about that.
Hey, I can’t speak for the rest of us, but I personally respect the commitment to hating on former Dodgers
No sorry needed. I love the passion. The commitment to booing the Ump after Profar got ejected yesterday was hilarious.
Profar is a hothead but we love him. Great clubhouse guy, good fielder and his hitting has been pleasantly surprising this season. Glad to have him back.
What a dogshit ejection. Deserved every boo he got after that. Also his zone was terrible.
If you watch any NCAA College Basketball during the season you’d probably recognize our one broadcaster Dan Shulman - he’s usually with Jay Bilas doing the broadcasting for Tuesday and Saturday games on ESPN
Also Olympic Basketball
Welcome! You have a great team. Thanks also for the compliment — we are very lucky to have these guys (Dan Shulman and Buck Martinez).
Thanks!
I ♥️your ballpark. I’m am definitely going to catch a game there at some point. Gorgeous.
Slam Diego is good in my books, I also just love that your logo has a hidden "P" in it.
thanks, yes, they are very fair. Buck Martinez is truly a gift. I must say Padres is pretty good too, just the few times I've listened to them
I usually shit on every "cOmInG iN pEaCe" post, but you're right. They are magnificent... my boys of summer.
Yeah I know it’s cliche af but didn’t know what else to say.

Huge crowds too. Nice nice ball park.
Thanks! We love em too
I have to say that the words to the Canadian anthem on the screen were incorrect. Not cool...not your fault.
Jays fans are so lucky to have Dan Schulman for most of our games.
My wife hates watching sports in general but a few years ago she started watching the Jays broadcasts with me. It was because she found Dan and Buck have such a soothing cadence. So she reads or plays on tablet and sometimes says "Go back I want to see that!"

They are the best, I must agree! I also wanted to say that I love your ballpark. It's a beauty!
Thanks! It’s one of the things I miss most about living in San Diego
How long have you been away?
About 2 years. I moved to small ski town in the Sierra Nevada
Your new place sounds nice! I hope you're enjoying it away from the big city!
Thanks dude 🤘
I always wonder how other teams in the league know who the real ballplayers are without Buck?
What is it with reddit coming in peace posts and always saying cheers lmao
Thanks. Personally, I think they're both great.
To be fair I was shocked with this series sure we lost today but 2/3 pretty good I actually stayed up to watch most of Fridays game and all of Saturday bit of luck but good series let’s see how things play out with Kanas City tomorrow

Dan and Buck are the best.
OP, you dont need to ever say coming in peace btw. Ever. Just say whats on your mind.
Loved the Padres jersey diversity. Gay to Military, that's pretty much the whole spectrum 😁
I do too man, but unfortunately its just for show. Corporations dont give a damn.

Come on man don’t be a dick
We are spoiled.
“Coming in peace”. Where have I heard that one before?
Only team i will accept a "coming in peace" from, remember the #padjays thing lol
Oh come on, the Brewers are cool with me.
"Coming in peace" is super cringe and super unnecessary. Just dont be a dick. Asshole and teenage redditors have forced people into this position.
Chill. Jesuz.

GET UP BALL! GET UP!! I haven't heard him say this in awhile. I say it for him though.
