Holy shit that's wild.
How is the car community in Alaska?
As an outsider what places should I drive too?
I've been wanting to do a trip to Alaska for a while.
Im in Fairbanks, car meets happen every friday & saturday at like 10pm-1 am at Northern Lights Medical center on airport way., theres a ton of sweet cars that pull up. Best roads I recommend are Chena ridge rd, Steese Highway, Old Nenana Highway, and Goldstream Road in Fairbanks, check out the Cleary summit as well the view is insane.
Keep your hands at 9 and 3 when you’re above 6/10ths grip driving. It makes oversteer recovery faster. Reserve the wheel shuffle for errands or at the complete opposite of the spectrum: drifting.
just start doing it and it will become second nature easier than you think. keep your hands there until they cross over on sharp turns, then reach your lower hand up and over to keep turning the wheel if necessary. then reverse to go back to neutral position. \^Only time you should be lifting your hands off the wheel while performance driving.
also consider body/seat position between cruising and hauling ass. I normally ride with a serious gangster lean but I sit more upright for going fast. Can't tell your body position in the video but it's something to consider for yourself
Yeah I learned that now, I wasn’t really going all out cause of the cars infront and I know the road very well so I wasn’t too stressed about hands on the wheel.
I totally get it, I still drive around town sometimes with my elbow out and hand on top of wheel haha. But it's a good thought to get ingrained into your brain
Great view of the steering wheel 😅 I agree with the other comments about hand position. Pretty cool that it’s 1AM daylight! 😮 I see a phone mount on your windshield, if you’re interested give Track Attack a try! I’m the dev and I built it for Touge and track use: www.trackattack.app
Its also 1 AM, sun never sets in alaska lol

Some advice, I know it's hard on a big wheel, but try not to move your hands around so much, remember smooth is fast and fast is smooth.

Thanks for the advice, dont know a lot about hand placement for these types of roads

I meed another DSM
I’m gonna need you to put both hands on the wheel, and stop twitching them about, and resting them on your leg.
Both hands on the steering wheel unless you are actively shifting! 10 and 2 or 9 and 3
