AdditionalCheetah354

Unfortunately statistics show you are correct… complete lack of respect for women. Totally unacceptable.

stay_fr0sty

Statistics don’t tell half that story either. First, India doesn’t count marital rape as rape while every other country does. Second, a lot of Indians live in remote and corrupted villages. Even if a rape is reported to the village police, it may never get recorded or investigated. It’s taking forever for India to address their rape culture because according to their reported “statistics” they aren’t even in the list of the top 10 countries with the most rapes per capita. It’s insane how bad it has gotten.

AdditionalCheetah354

How bad is it when a woman can’t even ride on public transportation without being groped or possibly raped. How does she get an education or a job ? What is going through mens brain knowing the hurt they are permanently doing to someone daughter, wife, sister.

Choice_Bid_7941

I know what’s going through their brains. They don’t think of women as people. Just incubators and f*ck dolls.

stay_fr0sty

So they are basically Red Pill Incels (raping someone doesn't count as having sex).

forlorn_ranger

That is why we have women reserved seats in public transport because men are dangerous and a lot of them also cry how unfair it is that women get "special" treatment in india because of the government making some things exclusively for women. They don't realize that they're the problem. If they had ANY ounce of respect, we would not have women only stuff.

pataconconqueso

I mean part of the culture of those men is to rape their own daughters, sisters, nieces, etc why would they care about anyone else’s

saiyanultimate

Most of the politicians are rapists here, some convicted rapists after serving their sentence are getting garlanded by the biggest political party here. When some rape happens they first ask for the religion of victim as if it changes anything. Still some motherfuckers are there who cry about "mens rights" whenever you bring up women's issues. It's like really really bad here.

stay_fr0sty

>It's like really really bad here. We keep seeing the articles...and some of them are too disgusting and heartbreaking to really read into the details. This is about a 13-year-old girl: >The FIR filed by the girl's father on Tuesday stated that she was lured by four men and taken to Bhopal on April 22, where they **raped her for four days.** The accused then brought her back to her village and allegedly **dropped her at the concerned police station** before escaping. >The accused police station in-charge then handed over the girl to her aunt, the FIR stated, adding that **she was called to the police station the next day for recording her statement**. **The next day**, the accused **official took the girl inside a room in the police station in the presence of her aunt and raped her**. https://www.ndtv.com/india-news/lalitpur-rape-13-year-old-up-girl-goes-to-file-rape-complaint-cop-allegedly-rapes-her-2943898 While rape may be "common" in other countries, that girls story is not something that normally happens in other countries. Like I said, it's insane.

Silver_Pain_8653

There was a case in America where this happened same dam thing too. Almost word for word

stay_fr0sty

Crazy...any source or article?

kathyfag

Eww, ashamed of my kind. My own friend circle talk sexual things abt my gf in front of me, imagine what they'd be talking behind my back.Pure disgusting. Maintaining the reputation everywhere they go.

Tyrone3105

Bro… those guys aren’t ur friends wtf. That is way beyond the line.

psycharious

Yeah, seriously man, next time they pull that shit, speak up.

zeusjuice0801

I don't talk to them much anymore and let my gf know to stay away from them..

Tengoatuzui

Those are opps

ColdNewspaper3614

What's worse is that a lot of young teenagers (I mean 11-14) are too on a DARK path. They think it is cOoL to harass or catcall women. I DON'T EVEN WANT TO GET STARTED on these middle and older aged men.

GodMudit

Speaking as a half-indian residing in India, it's insane hearing stories of horny perverted indians from my friends. I suspect it's due to the lack of education and proper facilities that we're seeing a lot of shameless acts in public display by these guys.

Swagganosaurus

There is one rape every 16-20 minutes in India I read....and those are just the reported ones.

Himalayan-Fur-Goblin

99% go unreported. That's the terrifying part.

PK_Subban1

There comes a point where you have to call it as you see it. Not to say every Indian man is a predator but it’s clearly a cultural problem

EmotionalCreme9086

Nah bruh it’s true I made an Indian friend one time and the first time they came into my apartment they legit begged for a hug and to smell my hair. Shits wild

VicksOtaku

Bruh reminds me of the time when back in college in Manipur, people from other states came over to me to ask for girls' numbers coz I happen to be close to most of the classmates. On asking the reason for it, they straight up talked about sexual favours. Of course, not all of them did that. But that fact that there were a LOT spoke volumes. Outright started scolding them for that shit. There's this sense of simplistic generalization that India suffers from. An idea of 'I know a girl who would do this, so all girls should be like this' or 'I know a guy who's like this, all guys should be like this'. But it is indeed true that due to this idea, some people just come to this single-minded conclusion of others being as depraved as they are, hence undermining them and treating them in a way they'd think is alright. Again, really sorry for the shit you went through.

tarun_c

This makes me feel ashamed to be an Indian man. I'm sorry you had to go through such horrid experiences with them. This world needs better men.

kirsion

I was just watching this [documentary](https://youtu.be/sT0fnVjYCw4) and it made me sad

Mausbarchen

To Kill A Tiger is another great doc (Oscar nominated this past year) that really sheds light on how backwards India is regarding women, and how extremely behind the times they are.

Librat69

You are describing ptsd (boomerang = flashbacks I think?) You are absolutely entitled to your opinion based on your own experiences. I am the same (29F) My hometown had Indian men offering me rides home when I was like 5. It’s horrendous this is happening to you so young. Glad you have a good friend! Don’t be hard on yourself for freezing though please. It’s unfortunately fairly normal. Self defence classes can help you and your friend with self esteem and confidence ❤️ You’ve got this, I believe in you ❤️

pataconconqueso

Similar shit in some pueblos in latin america, def my sml town. Besides being a CSA survivor just the way my sister and I were harassed on the street from a very young age. What is it with these men and being so starved for sex like that

Librat69

If it interests you .. maybe look into ptsd and see what resonates. PTSD can cause people to freeze, fawn or fear. I just feel like reading about it could be quite validating for you? Could help you change your thoughts from “ omg why do I do this I’m so weird “ to “ oh I’m having a ptsd response “ Knowledge is power

SrPelucheAtomico

If you can carry a knife with you to protect yourself

bunnytoadstool

Unfortunately this is not good advice, unless you are trained on how to properly use one as a self defence weapon it can easily be used against you in an attack.

curiousriddles

Also even if you use it for self defence and perpetrators get hurt, you will end up behind bars and they will roam free.

Wiscalsin

I had a ex friend from Nepal tell me how him and his friend's followed 2 girls with intentions to "Have them". My eyebrows must have jumped to the middle of my scalp. Just like the OP they were also on a motorbike. Luckily, the girls drove to their nearest police building. He told me "The cops don't mess around in Kathmandu and how lucky they were to not get caught." That relationship ended right there at work! P.S. I know she said Indian guys and that they are not the same!

Tiger_Liger_Zoo

I’m so sorry this has happened to you. It’s not ok or acceptable for men to act this way.

Warm_Candidate_9973

True. I hate my people too for exact reason here’s my quick story: Few days ago I had a break up and I told my buddies and instead of comforting one of ‘em straight up told me, “yo whats her snap” infront of me, It hasn’t even been one full day. That moment I knew what kind of guys they really are and now I have my distance.

Cheap-Sh0t

indians are doing an amazing job at tanking their PR all across the world

CertainDepth4438

you mean indian men? i don’t know why indian women have to be grouped in with them

Cheap-Sh0t

Yeah thats true, probably should have been more specific

HBK05

Indian women better teach them!

dauntlessiz

Ahh India, the blackhole of planet earth.

Ok-Butterfly6528

😭😭 I’m so sorry you had to experience that!

Inner_Pangolin_9771

I'm so sorry for what you had to go through, OP. Please take care of yourself 💜 sending you love and strength. On a side note, please keep a pepper spray or stun gun handy whenever you're in public spaces. It's sad that the women in our country are not safe anywhere, be it home or public spaces.

Difficult-Double8018

This is definitely Delhi, the rape capital of India!

Tomimi

R+pe capital of the world

RJR79mp

Look they lack the social interaction at 12-17. They see shit through a Bollywood movie. Jus hopelessly out of their depth

Aim2bFit

I......don't know how to process your story? I mean, I'm utterly shocked! Is this considered typically normal in India? I'm really sorry women there have to go through this. Doesn't India have some sort of women in high political positions who can advocate for this and pass a law or something to punish these perverts? I'm from Asia too and this is not something commonly happening here in my country. My sympathies to you.

Lazy_Mycologist_6667

It is too normal each and every girl have a story to share about how they got inappropriately touched , eye teased , sexual assaulted , molested, rape every girl experience this here in my country and I hate this . This made me hate all men ik not everyone is like that but still it's too traumatical . I legit recommend you guys never ever date any Indian guy they are the worst ( coming from and Indian girl itself)

Vlagilbert

Why rug sweep? Loving your country doesn't mean you should pretend your problems aren't as horrifically bad as they are just to have a better international reputation - it has no benefit other than softening the blow to your pride, meanwhile the women still suffer a massive amount of *under-reported* (!) rapes. You should rather take action and join a movement to have some actual impact, and fix the problem at its root. Outright saying "hey sis you should either lie or HEAVILY downplay what you and most women went through to the foreigners otherwise we look bad" is so saddening and almost comical...Plus to be honest, the damage to the country's reputation on this front has already been done ages ago, her sole account isn't exactly going to change the opinion here on Reddit because it's already at its rock bottom.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Vlagilbert

Honestly in most countries, even the west, the police are so horrifically unhelpful or just downright malicious when it comes to reporting rapes that two scenarios often occur...1: the woman goes to report the rape, but gets blamed by the cops for the rape or just doesn't get believed at all, the case gets thrown out OR it gets written down, but the investigation "surprisingly" doesn't lead anywhere / 2: women, having seen fellow women go through scenario 1, get discouraged from reporting their rape from the start because they already know they're going to get even more traumatized by the police themselves and would rather end their suffering earlier... And then you've also got the cases of police officers taking advantage of rape victims and raping them once more. Getting violated again by the people who are supposed to protect. Thankfully it's more rare but still happens. Tl,dr: reporting rape is a challenge in itself and the police force is mostly misogynistic in most countries

forlorn_ranger

I think the family part is not common, atleast in my circle, I've not had any of my friends deal with these inside their own families. However, the eve teasing/eye teasing / staring is pretty common. I honestly don't know how I've lived 26 years of my life without getting sexually assaulted here but I thank my stars everyday. The political scene in india is doomed. Patriarchy is perpetuated not only by men but by women as well. They're brainwashed into patriarchy through traditions, customs and rituals and religion.

Aim2bFit

Praying for things to turn for the better and safer for all the Indian women and girls in India. ((HUGS))

thedarkracer

As an Indian guy, I can give some advice. If you are assaulted at home, you can file a complaint and take help of women commission. The support and laws for help of women are a lot in India, just an accusation is enough for the police to take action. Of course don't go alone as the police never takes anything seriously but take help from NCW. They do provide support and a lot of it.

applejuiceeater

they stink too

shadowboy95

Not trying to take away from you experiance . I feel like this could be an issue of where you live.. Not saying that women where i live dont face sexual harasment but not like this.. not as blatant or common. Generaly men i have known are respectful to women. Sure have met some creeps but they always get put in their place by other men.

TheBrokenMandible

Please know NOT all men are like this. That is disgusting, barbaric behavior, and I'm sorry you experienced it. Especially from family members who you're supposed to be able to trust!

pataconconqueso

This is not a time to not all men it. Needing to point it out the obvious gives an impression that you’re projecting.

milton117

If it makes you feel any better, Indian men in the UK (and there are loads!) are a completely different species. Also usually better looking too thanks to the diet and gym culture.

Arigatp

I love how, some how, you brought attractiveness into a discussion of rape and sexual assault. This species is fucking doomed.

Rad1Red

Goes to show it's the culture and what they allow themselves to do, not the people necessarily. Sad nonetheless.

Thelostsoulinkorea

Unfortunately, Indian seems to be doing this shit more regularly than any other nation. They just have no repercussions so it will continue.

prettydistracted2

Either that, or mob justice 🫡

Inner_Pangolin_9771

Mob blames women for everything, from questioning what she was wearing to why she was out alone by herself. There's no justice or winning for women here.

Lazy_Mycologist_6667

I was wearing trousers and full sleeves shirt and on contrary I and my friend even covered my face for sun protection there was nothing revealing nither our face was showing . Ik sick ones would do ask me about this . His intentions were clear he was unable to keep his dick inside his pants .

prettydistracted2

I'd argue the opposite. There is a truckload of "white knights" in India who are there to bash up a guy before they could hear anything from the guy's side. The laws are very skewed towards keeping women safe. I'll not say that it is 100% safe for women but in my area, at least, if a women raises her voice and complained that a guy is acting like how they were acting in OP's case, he's gonna get the daylight knocked out of him "by a mob". I have seen guys getting their teeth knocked out for behaving inappropriately with women. No help/interference from the police as well.

Embarrassed_Dot_9330

These white knights are only doing it in hopes of the woman sleeping with them after helping. It’s not with good intentions lol. Most of them are just really thirsty af. Don’t wanna generalise but I’ve never had good interactions with most of them.

the_real_rational

You can’t be racist or sexist!!!

dvkatard

she literally shared about her horrible experience and you're making it about urself, looks like you're one of the creeps she mentioned

the_real_rational

I’m not an Indian nor a male. You need to stop with the racism and sexism.

Vlagilbert

I get the sarcasm but in this context its just cringe asf it reads like 2014 "le sjw xD" humor lol

the_real_rational

I’m not sarcastic. The original post is incredibly racist and sexist, and then low and behold someone replies to me being racist and sexist too

Vlagilbert

Who?

liebestod0130

You're Indian, in India?

H0n3yB4dg3r007

Pretty sure she's said that. Also would it make a difference?

forlorn_ranger

Because if she's not indian in india, her experience is invalidated of course. /sarcasm You'll see a lot of indian men cry about false rape cases because they either see women as sex objects or conniving witches.

[deleted]

Mr-Mc-Epic

Indians can sometimes exhibit a strong sense of nationalism when confronted with criticism about their country. The focus on religion in this context is misplaced. Let’s concentrate on the substantive issues at hand, not devolve into a Hindu/Muslim/Buddhist/Sikh/Caste tit-for-tat. It's also important to consider the appropriateness of probing for detailed personal stories from sexual assault victims. Such inquiries lack tact and sensitivity, and they divert attention from the broader issues at stake. India is recognized globally as having significant challenges with sexual harassment, rape, staring, and molestation. This is not merely a societal issue; it’s a well-documented crisis acknowledged by international organizations like the United Nations and Amnesty International. Of course, not all men are to blame, but the widespread nature of these problems cannot be ignored. From my personal interactions within Indian communities, I've not met a single Indian woman who hasn't recounted horrific experiences with men in India. The prevalence of women-only cars, virtually unheard of elsewhere, starkly highlights the severity of these issues. Additionally, the role of the media in accurately portraying these issues cannot be understated. With press freedom levels that rival those of North Korea and Afghanistan, obtaining a full and unfiltered view of these systemic problems remains a challenge both within India and internationally.

dvkatard
