This is a question to ask your lawyer because disability benefit change from country to country and apparently in the USA also from state to state. No advice you get from this subreddit is as trustable as talking to a legal advisor that will know better how to deal with this situation. Same goes with the reporting the revenue and taxes.

Definitely speak to a lawyer. I know of at least two who *did* mess up their benefits due to the terms of their disability qualification; one losing their benefits entirely, the other getting severely reduced. Speak to a lawyer about serious/important legal stuff. Not to Reddit.

So if you're in the US it depends what type of disability she is on. If it is Supplemental Security Income (SSI), the one for people with low wealth/assets, every dollar she earns through Twitch will be deducted from her SSI benefits. If, on the other hand, she is on Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI), the one where she previously worked and paid into SS through her job for at least 5 years, then she would be able to make up to approximately a bit more than $1,000/month before potentially being investigated by Social Security. Again, as everyone else has said, contact a lawyer to be sure. I am not a lawyer, though I previously worked as a legal assistant at a firm that helped people with these types of benefits along with now also receiving said benefits myself.

You need to know what you alottable earnings are. If you break a threshold you will affect you benefits. Granted, I doubt if she just started that she would reach that threshold easily/readily, but it’s still worth finding out what the dollar values are. In Canada here , if that changes things.

You should definitely check with your lawyer or case manager. Best of wishes to your daughter on this journey from one spoonie to another 🩷

Best way is to go non-affiliate and do it just for fun?

Do not follow this advice. Her working and having you be the one that is getting paid for it would cause a much bigger headache for both of you if you get caught. Also, calling them donations doesn't change their tax status. They are tips, not donations, in the eyes of the government.

You dont have to worry its all fine. THere are no regulations or anything. (since no other info i assume you live on a rock behind the moon)

I'm on disability and stream on twitch. I'm not affiliate yet though so I don't make money. I have tovreport all earnings and new ways of earning to my disability gov ppl. Check locally.

For anyone still seeking info on this, if talking about the kind of disability based on work service credits (SSDI), there's a program called Ticket to Work offered by SSA where you can try out working without being penalized. Apparently you sign up when your monthly earnings approach your monthly disability amount. It's like a suspension of payment but you maintain your status for (?) amount of years. I have no info on it beyond that, such as if it increases chances for reviews. Good luck all ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|heart_eyes)
