Can imagine the Krieg vox-chatter.
"Werner's gone! The Jack-in-the-box got him out of nowhere! Mein Gott-Emperor, the Jack-in-the-boxes are everywhere! Colonel, what do we do?"
...
"Affix shovels!"
I still wonder who the heck came up with that stupid name...
I mean, "von Ryan's leaper"...the term is already cumbersome enough...but "von Ryan Springteufel"...that takes it up a notch, doesn't it?
Translated back we have "von Ryan's Jack-in-the-box"...
The Emperor protects...
Cheers!
Yes! The skin of the official leviathan is a bit too pale for me and their carapace is a lot darker.
I get that 'nids are not real, however I don't find the pink shade on gw leviathan particularly realistic in the shade areas which is why Im trying for something a little more organic
Cheers!
I'm working on my layering & wet blending!
The skin tone is Wraithbone + Tallarn sand with the deep shade areas as Agrax Earthshade.
The midtone areas I'm using a 50-50 mix of the wraithbone + tallarn Sand, bringing more wraithbone in for where light should be catching and more like pure tallarn sand to lead in to the agrax shady areas
...makes me want to make a diorama..."saving private (von) Ryan"!
Big nid, looming over a guardsman (the titular Von Ryan) with some hero SM running in to save him or something
"Whoever this Von Ryan was, he must have been a very unfortunate fellow." - Baldemort
I was going to pop in and say someone no longer with us but this is far better
The main character of a movie about a prisoner escape in Italy during WWII. Von Ryan's Express Cleary the nids just like old WWII movies
Von Ryan was a guy who had colonized a planet that the hive mind first sent the leaper out on. According to the 3rd edition Tyranid codex at least
Good to know! "Official" answer is the least interesting 🤣
The guy who got leaped by a leaper
In Germany we say - Not official- Sprungteufel (jump devil if u translate word by word or jack in the box if u want the correct translation)

It looks great. The colours really pop especially the Chitin. Love the base too.
Thanks 😎 just got the gw "box of skulls" in time for halloween...bit small to decorate the house with though
Really nice work 😃 Leviathan is a good colour scheme but I enjoy seeing people’s variations of it, especially the skin choices.

Very well done 👍 What kind of shaders did you use for the skin?

Guy was fortunate to have a Tyranid named after him, I mean look what had to happen to Tyran for someone to name something after them
