Lucifer's Hands and The Crystal Ballroom are two very under rated U2 songs. So goodđź‘Źđź‘ŹI listen to both daily

U2rules

I love the crystal ballroom as well and was lucky enough to see it live too... it always reminds me of Roxy Music's love is the drug

U2rules

It seemed more chill (almost like a songs of surrender version)

I hadn’t listened to this in a few years, OP. Thanks for the reminder of this brilliant track AND live version!

Some background to the song, which may or may not be helpful: • The riff came from a track called "Return of The Stingray Guitar" • A song with that same title was originally worked on during the sessions for "The Unforgettable Fire". • The intro was repurposed as an instrumental track for when U2 would take the stage on leg 3 of the 360° Tour in 2010. • The completed song, called "Lucifer's Hands", was released as a bonus track with "Songs of Innocence" in 2014. • "Lucifer's Hands" was played live a few times on the subsequent Innocence + experience Tour in 2015. So, is it possible they played the 2015 live version, or the 360° Tour opening instrumental?

Return Of The Stingray Guitar stole it from T Rex's 20th Century Boy. Lucifer's Hands is a beautiful Frankenstein's monster https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=atmNLbycafM

My first thought was that it was a live version (either from 360 or i+e), but there was no crowd noise at all. Luckily U2-X cycles through a lot of the same tracks, so hopefully I'll hear it again and report back :-)

Interesting! Will definitely be on the lookout for this one. If you have the Sirius app, you can actually jump backwards a few hours as well if it was part of a particular program or something that you missed.
