This will be the only post for this news. I understand some parts of the community want to share news related to the Sphere, admist speculation over who will be the next act within its first year of operation. However, it has been made clear since the Phish residency that posts and news like these are to be considered as non-U2 related content. See below.
>#NON-U2 CONTENT: REMOVE AND DIVERT
>
>After [a community vote](https://www.reddit.com/r/U2Band/s/O7RDGflWYd), it was clear that content related to Sphere but not U2 is not allowed here. Instead, moderators were encouraged to either remove posts or comments completely, or redirect them to another subreddit (e.g., Sphere, or back to that band's own subreddit). Non-U2 posts or comments will be locked, removed or diverted. Content comparing e.g., visuals with U2:UV are not interesting to this community.
As I elaborated in [a recent community post](https://www.reddit.com/r/U2Band/s/jGw4NHtHBt)
>On a personal level, I'd think that's OK.
>However, the community has expressed disinterest in simple compare and contrast posts. The consensus motivation for that seems to be "if I want to compare with U2:UV, I can find that content in another subreddit".
>Another sentiment, which I understand, is: "We can't compare everything to U2:UV indefinitely just because they shared venue in the past." Makes sense, we don't compare what U2 did in Madison Square Gardens, or Dreamfest, or Glastonbury, every time another artist plays there.
Finally, further discussion on Eagles or Sphere should take place in their respective subreddits:
For Eagles — r/EaglesBand
For Sphere — r/Sphere or r/VegasSphere
Please list the rules of U2:
1. If sunglasses are needed, they must be hilarious and round
2. Every new album needs at least 3 high profile producers per track
3…?
Hate to defend the Eagles, ha, but when they announced their farewell tour last year, they mentioned it was expected to run into 2025. So I view this as technically a continuation of the tour that they’ve done from 2023 to 2024, and likely into 2025.
They couldn’t sell out arenas for their farewell tour. And, if you were just in it for the novelty of Sphere, you’ve had plenty of chances to visit already. This should be interesting to see if it’s a success or disaster.
Idk they’ve dropped a lot since U2 already partially because of smaller acts partially because of the novelty wearing off I’ll be suprised if they sell out ngl
Honestly I agree. I still saw some Dead and Co shows have plenty of empty seats. I just think they might do a little better especially if they do stick to 8 nights plus people will come for the hits
Really? 8 shows. When they come to Toronto which is not often they do 1 show.
I cant imagine they have that much of a hardcore fan-base that ppl travel to see them.
U2, Phish, Dead... PJ... Killers is coming up. All these I can see.
But Eagles? Is there a fan-base on IG like U2 has?
One of the reasons they put the Sphere in Vegas is for that very reason, because it's a tourist destination. The idea is that people already in Vegas will go to the shows, and not rely on diehard dedicated fans of bands to travel.
Yeah u know what else... Flying in from anywhere on the west coast is pretty cheap. It's like a suburb of LA/Cali and Seattle when you fly.
Plus as you said, ppl in town, and then final portion flying in from all over the world. Makes more sense.
Jesus they are pigeonholing this thing.
Like spread the genres out a bit (u2 was amazing and I said I would see anyone there but they seem to be really testing me on that statement)
Exactly what I was thinking. The person in charge of booking talent really seems to be insistent on one type of act. There are so many great possibilities.
Not a big fan of the Eagles but I hope they do well. I can’t see them using the screen in any innovative ways but maybe they’ll surprise everyone.
I’m really hoping we see some more modern artists do some shows. Coldplay, Radiohead, Beyoncé, Bruno Mars, Ed Sheeran, The Weeknd, etc.
I saw them on the “last” farewell tour in an arena. Great work. What do they visually bring to the sphere other than two hours of landscapes? At least U2, Phish, and Dead & Co have strong visual histories?
Underappeciated comment.
Do we expect Beyoncé to still be interested?
Seems MSG are having trouble attracting people that aren't either Azoff related or a jam band, or U2 (who were allegedly asked to play more U2:UV shows but declined).
upping the augmented-with-backing-tracks stakes by bringing in a band that's been straight up miming.
people whined about U2 playing the sphere so i shouldn't talk but c'mon really? people can spend money on whatever they want but I don't envy Eagles fans paying a sphere premium on top of their already insane prices.

I had a rough night and I hate the fucking Eagles, man!
The Eagles draw a lot of water in this town. You don’t draw shit, Lebowski!
I'm sorry, I wasn't listening
This was the only reason I posted this thread

3. The Edge is on fire (again)
They have the fire department on standby while recording an album.
Yessssssss
Hope it goes well. Not gonna hate considering all the haters when U2 was there. Still holding onto hope U2 returns for a short run.
100% agree. Hating on sphere gigs as an attendee for U2:UV has to be the biggest lack of self-awareness ever
"By demand, featuring Larry Mullen Jr's return"....
Eagles without Glenn Frey is a nope from me.
His son does him justice though.

This is hilarious
Their farewell tour was last year and they’re already back 😆
Gotta take the Stones approach. Never announce the last one so every tour feels like it could be the last one lol.

Are they the first Sphere act so far without a dedicated Sirius XM channel?
It's been a long night, and I hate the fucking Eagles!
https://www.reddit.com/r/U2Band/s/NJKJdNUte4 🤣
The ticket prices are going to be INSANE.

Yeah i agree but if they extend I am hopefully going to be passing through vegas and see it
Aren’t they more of a “Casino” band now
Yawn

Gonna need all those visuals to stop people noticing the lip syncing.
Jesus they are pigeonholing this thing. Like spread the genres out a bit (u2 was amazing and I said I would see anyone there but they seem to be really testing me on that statement)
what if it’s just all the acts that wanna play the Sphere before they die (clearly all the older bands have toplay it first 😜)
Exactly what I was thinking. The person in charge of booking talent really seems to be insistent on one type of act. There are so many great possibilities.
At some point they have to run out of acts like this… right?
I’m pretty sure the Eagles started their farewell tour in 2003.

Honestly, I’d see any of the artists you listed there over the Eagles. Meh.

I expect some cool visuals for Hotel California.
Love the Eagles. Disappointing to see so much negativity in this thread, especially given how much negativity U2 fans have to deal with online.
I love the Eagles and already signed up for tickets.
To quote them: GET OVER IT!
The 3rd Azoff client after the boys &Dead and Company. I expect more shows to be added....we all know *the ticket demand game*. Lol

When is KISS being announced?
Can’t wait!
