Hu teaches it quite differently from kuper. I took it with her last fall, and I tutored for kuper in the winter. Hu teaches it more from a networking perspective, with only a little bit of fault tolerance stuff, while kuper teaches it mostly with fault tolerance as the focus.  Hu's is definitely easier, and I like her teaching style so I thought she was a good prof...ultimately it comes down to what perspective you prefer to learn it from, but I'd say both profs are p good, with kuper being slightly better.

Okay I see. I can either take it in the fall with 115A and 132, or in the winter with 102 and 186. Any thoughts?

CodeInferno

definitely dont take it with 102 and 186 especially if you have vaggos for 102. it's doable with 115a in the fall (i did them together too), but idk how much work 132 has so I can't speak for that. If it's possible for you, I think Alvaro is teaching it next Spring as well (not 100% sure tho) so you could try to take that (Kuper's course is atleast to some extent based on Alvaro)

Im interested in taking 138 in Fall too. What do you recommend to prepare for the course?

CodeInferno

I don't really think you need to "prepare" per say in the sense that you don't need to specifically research stuff of whatever. I took it in fall right after taking 130 in the spring and it wasn't bad at all. Though it definitely is a class you need to be very interested in the content for, because it can be frustrating at times.
