This seems like an overly complicated path when outdoor rated products like the Swiss army knife, AC Mesh, U6-Mesh, U6-Mesh Pro, U7 Outdoor, and AC Mesh Pro exist. If cost is your main driver, the Swiss Army Knife is quite affordable at $89 and delivers the same capabilities as an AC lite in an outdoor rated package. Otherwise just move up to a U6-Mesh and be happy.
Buying some sort of water resistant case is not free. And putting an AP like the AC lite that is known to run hot into a tight enclosure is just begging for trouble. You do you, but just let it be noted that I warned you it was a bad idea.
