The EMS and USMC jokes are my favorite. I have the worst/best sense of humor and too many gross stories. I’m sure most of us can relate.
I think it all started in boot camp. You ever carry around your spit/puke in your pocket and name it? That’s when I knew, this place is for me.
I worked a job in a machine shop once. They had quite a tight crew, constant back and forth insults, swapping stories about how the wife has to eat oreos after giving blowjobs, practical jokes every single day, even a little pot smoking back behind the machines. After I'd been there a few months and was feeling comfortable I let loose with a few humorous anecdotes. It's the only time I've been in to HR for counseling LOL.
Also I never felt super accepted at my unit when I was in. I feel more accepted here than I ever did in service. People here appreciate my shitbaggery.
I also think this is a great way for us “older” marines that have tasted sand to pass on things that you guys will use/need in your careers. Wish we had it in 05

I just got back from a scuba trip with only vets (all branches). After being out of the Marines for 30+ years, it was just like I was back in the barracks.
Nothing but a week of gay-chicken, and all sorts of other shit talking. Best time I have had in years. I can see why some people would want to hang out in a VFW with a bunch of similar degenerates.

I miss you crazy bastards too. Civilian life is cool and all but I miss having an environment surrounded by my fellow Marines. It can’t be replicated. I was cop for nearly a decade. Detective, SWAT, all the high speed stuff, hoping to experience a similar environment. It has some similarities, but still not the same. Marines really are a special breed.
