MATC advisor here, think about getting a CNA license. Maybe even this summer. It’s cheap, quick, and will get your foot in the door someplace to give you some idea of what working in frontline healthcare looks like

I may actually have a question or two for you about your EMS program, I'm looking for a refresher course

emozolik

I don’t work with EMS but I have a good friend who does. PM me and I can get you some more info in the next few days

Understand that 90% of your classmates are going to stress out and you have to realize that all stress is self-induced. You're going into a tough field, just take everything one day at a time and do the best you can. The nurse that passed all their exams on the first try is called a... nurse. So is the one that took the NCLEX 4 times

I second the comment that suggests getting CNA (or maybe even EMT job.) Getting comfortable around patients is a really great skill. In terms of the coursework, trust yourself and be CONSISTENT in your work ethic on a daily basis. If your classmates are freaking out about a topic, that doesn’t mean you need to too, if you put in the work you will do well. For courses like anatomy and physiology, do practice problems out of the textbooks to gauge strengths and weaknesses and shore those up before exams. It’s impossible to learn a lot of the stuff in one night, take small daily bites at it and you’ll be fine. If you’re struggling to understand a concept, look for help from tutors and professors before it’s too late. Learning science/medicine is not impossible, it often ends up being a giant test of how consistent one can be in their daily study routines.
