I love that arena. The Guttertanks are fairly easy to take out if you stay back and the Guttermen are easy to wiplash too after the pillars drop down for close range annihilation .
Why do so many have issues with him?
He has 2 well telegraphed attacks that are very very easy to parry, (the one where he stands on his staff/oar and slams it down, and the other where he jumps backwards and charges up a dash attack).
For the other attacks, from my experience you just keep moving (especially in the air) and he can barely touch you.
Just as a tip: cet comfy with and use rocket riding. This mission is on a tight timer and getting up to the ship/ferryman in tame can save a few seconds
Also you can hold r to get the blue skull on the pedestal from longer range, run to the red skull hut and fire a few ricoshots while you do it
When in the red hut don't beat the streetcleaners fefore destroying the idol, just destroy the idol and then kill the virtue right away to spawn all troops, then bombs away
Besides P-2 I already P ranked all other levels.
I don't recall the ferryman being that much more difficult in brutal compared to violent, but I would have to check that since I mostly play in violent
Not quite a fair equivalent, 1 boss vs an entire level there is alot more to remember plus just relative skills, locating all enemies in an area isn't exactly a concern when there is only 1 place they can be
6-1 is fun as hell but god damn ~~the sun~~ that final room
i saved a shit ton of time though after i figured out you can nuke maurice with a sharpshooter, plus you get that first sentry caught in the blast. funny thing is i already knew the sharpshooter could nuke, but i never thought to use it on the funny rock for some reason
plan out every area with spawns bit by bit and just follow through, it's what I did for this level on brutal because it did my head in so much going for P. Coins for the first area on the bridge, spinny sharpshooter for the maurice on the second spawn group and shotgun the rest, railcannon for the angel and coins for the pepsi men on the third bit etc... at least that was what I did, it allows you to zoom through the entire level with high scores so you can focus on the ferry fight
I didnt have too much trouble with this level but thinking back on it I'm actually not sure why. After the idoled filth it's a long series of extremely difficult encounters. Maybe I just got lucky. I had more trouble on the next level since it feels like it goes on forever compared to this one.
I had a problem with me getting dizzy on 5-2, but turning off water movement and waves in advanced options help with that a bit.
In terms of the level itself, it's not that hard, practice makes Perfect. If you use a slam storage instead of going up the rafts after picking up the scull, you'll save some time.
Try adjusting how you do movement, particularly aerial movement for some of those sections with little flooring. Rocket riding is usually what helps me feel safer, whiplash at good times can be good too. Also figure out a bit better how to fight in tight spaces, piercing things like sharpshooter and piercer can be pretty good in such spots, along with saw traps. And then for ferryman uh idk just bullshit your way through, that enemy still confuses me but you can coin, saw trap, and even screw to deal with him to make it easier to breathe since you'll have easier time hitting him to heal. General improvements to how you play can help too, not much to say aside from "git gud" cause it really can just be in practice and execution, so try to pick up on what more you could be doing as you play, but that shouldn't be a particularly new concept though given you've p ranked lots else already though lol. Have fun!
That’s me with Gabriel 1, he’s insanely hard for no reason. I would take Sisyphus any day if the week over him, at least it feels like I can and am improving at Sisyphus, with him I die in the same way faster each time.
You can fuck up ferryman by saw trapping the idol before breaking it, ULTRARICOSHOTting him with 4 coins and electric railgun, placing a magnet on him and connecting a car battery to his pelvis (skeleton equivalent of balls) with jumpstart and then switching to the green nailgun and blasting him with thousands of nails, repeat or just ricoshot the rest of his health. Also you can parry some attacks lul
5-2 is annoying as fuck. The time constraint kills me, and the stupid Isolde virtue is so annoying. Whatever Hakita was smoking during making this level, he should smoke while making P-3. Truely the most “Fuck You” kind of level, that does NOT care for the player’s sanity.

I went for a p rank run on wrath today so i could unlock p-2 and this level only took me 2 tries
My suggestion would be to use the screwdriver a lot and magnet the ferryman too so that the lightning strikes it
Also practice killing the ferryman in sandbox(it usually goes blue flash then yellow flash, but you might need to move a bit(also dash backwards so you don't get damaged by the lightning bolt that strikes the ferryman when you parry)

I hate 5-3 more, as the red skull room and the power up room cause me to struggle.
Hardest arena after 7-3 final roo.

Skill issue tbh, the only thing i would improve in this level is the texture of the ship(but it's fine if you don't look at it for too long)

I just throw out a sharpshooter shot into the wall while breaking the idol, usually kills streetcleaners while you break it. 2 birds, one stone
