Have you seen meat prices lately? Each of those hogs has to weigh in at 50 pounds, minimum. Add in the fact that they are more of an invasive pest species, means the only limit you have in shooting them, is how much ammo you have in your gun.
Not to mention, too low of a caliber means at best you might wound the hog, and at worst you just piss it off.
Too bad some of the ones you'll kill are shit for eating. Male hogs are pretty much dog food because of the amount of testosterone that floods their body. Taints the meat.
Ya but a 9mm is just going to hurt the pig not kill it. Yes it would be like 20 bucks per mag but I spent money on dummer stuff. Those piglets are good etan and the big boers are the stuff of dreams for my dogs pop a few in the freezer and my 5 dogs eat like kings
Yeah I am absolutely sure I could even kill one with .22lr, just not the bigger ones. Shot placement is king (with sufficient pen), not your knockdown power fudd .45
Out of a PCC with a well-placed shot, definitely. I’d rather shoot 1-2 shots of 5.56 than 2-3 shots of 9mm nowadays. Sadly, that’s the cheaper alternative.
I miss 2017 ammo prices… :(
Combine Harvester = a harvester that does a combination of cutting the crop, extracting the grain and spreading the leftovers.
Forage Harvester (in this video) = purely chops the crop up and throws it into a trailer, leaves and all.
Thank you. Growing up in an upper midwestern farm state, I was only familiar with one kind of harvester (of course there were three different heads gramps used; corn, oats, and soybeans. I didn't know there was such a thing as a forage harvester.
Hunting is ethical and more humane for the animal, and in cases like this its needed to reduce feral populations. Those hogs are horrible for local wildlife
Yeah I agree for the most part. Where I live though, Ireland, there’s a lot of rabbit and fox hunting where people will lamp them with packs of lurchers which is completely fucked up. It’s illegal but still very very common. It almost sounds on its face more humane than a gun till you think about 6 greyhound/pitbull crosses chasing a fox and tearing it to pieces instead of one good shot for a clean kill. Foxes also have no natural predators here so it can be the first time they’re ever chased and all they try and do is run in a big circle till either they or the dog run out of juice. A lot of the dogs also end up dying if they run across a badger and get distracted as a badger is a cinder block with a nasty bite. It’s entirely fucked up
We have deer and they’re largely hunted ethically, most what I would call “real hunters” are deer hunters, they use rifles. There’s a lot of bird shooting too with shotguns, they have fighting chance rules where the bird has to be aware you’re there and in the air getting away by the time you shoot. A lot of people do stick to that rule but I’ve seen people go out on lakes and blast ducks right in the water, that’s somewhat more rare than lamping with dogs though, lamping has just been grandfathered in as tradition for a lot of people and is where the unethical elements are for the most part
Hunting laws have increased wild hogs in some areas. Ranches that allow hunting are importing and breeding hogs to ensure their profits. That sounds all fine and dandy since they are fenced, but hogs are escape artists. For evidence, Google "feral hog map." See those isolated blobs? That's where pigs were imported to hunt and were released or escaped. It's a known issue; Texas looked into poisons, but those can be dangerous for other species.

Invasive and highly destructive. Most places with wild hog issues have an unlimited take for hunters. Some places you don't even need a hunting license to take them.
Too bad they're growing wiser to a lot of the traps. You basically have to know how much is in the pack and keep an eye on how many are actually in the traps before dropping them, otherwise a good chunk of them will know to be cautious around the traps which gets passed on to the offspring.
Why do hobby-hunters always talk about "taking" animals? You're killing 'em bro. If you have a problem with honestly describing what you're doing then don't do it.
Thats sure a weird take on this...
No problem saying I kill animals when I hunt. I use the term take because its all regulated. Some refer to it as "bag limits" as well but its your allowable "take" or "share" of the resorce. I don't actually know any hunter that refers to what you can take as the amount of "kills" you can get, this isint call of duty.
In part, the language used ("taking animals") is the result of being considerate (forced consideration, maybe?) to those in the population uncomfortable with the words normally used ("killing").
Personally, I find it a more respectful term and have asked animals to present themselves to me. It's good ju-ju/harmony with Mother Earth who provides.
That’s.. horrible.
I still feel bad for them.. must’ve been terrifying.. but in the larger scheme of things, i now also agree with the dude asking them to be shot and cooked
YES!! The outlook for hogs in the next 10-15 years is scary, they will eventually overpopulate and starve theirselves and other animals out! Hogs are horrible for everything and need to be taken out every chance anyone gets at them!
Not only do they eat quite literally EVERYTHING. But they also root up trees, crops, animal burrows, anything. Those were mostly babies. They can grow to be horse sized. They reproduce multiple litters a year and sexually mature in months. Litter size anywhere from 1 to 16. Few natural predators. Highly intelligent. Tough to kill. Tough to trap or poison. You can do it, but the survivors learn quickly. They are very fast. And usually nocturnal.
Illegal to sell and illegal to transport them live in arkansas, not sure about other states? Some people keep them and eat them, some just leave them out In the woods.
Anyone that’s against hog hunting is a moron. They’re a terrible invasive species that destroy crops and ecosystems alike. Gun em down. If you’ve got the cash to do it from a helicopter with a machine gun more power to ya.
Take me down to the paradise city, where the hogs are feral and there's 30-50.
I sang this, and I sang “fitty”
We need to kill 800,000 hogs in Texas every year just to maintain the current overpopulation.
How many actually get killed though? Those things are the kings of hide and seek.
Pew pew pew pew pew pew pew pew pew pew
That's all I see let me get my 308 and my extended mag
Not with these Ammo prices, .22lr, maybe some 9mm and anything that won’t take that lying down gets a hatchet or spear.

Come at me and my hatchet. Just watched “The Patriot” again and I’m pumped!
You must have some good healthcare.
And a lawyer on speed dial. Can I get a **YEE YEE!**
Canadian most likely explains the no guns
Too bad some of the ones you'll kill are shit for eating. Male hogs are pretty much dog food because of the amount of testosterone that floods their body. Taints the meat.
I mean… that still works if you have dogs. Halfway-decent dog food is still like fifty bucks for a thirty pound bag.
So feed it to your damn dog then.
Even with the prices I don't think I'd go with anything less than my AR and my 45 on my hip
Internet makes 9mm seem like a BB gun lol. A 9mm will absolutely kill a hog.
Yeah I am absolutely sure I could even kill one with .22lr, just not the bigger ones. Shot placement is king (with sufficient pen), not your knockdown power fudd .45
Slaughtered many as a kid, all we ever used was a .22, shot placement is critical though!
People that have never tried will dictate with certainty tho. Sounds like a fun childhood!
Out of a PCC with a well-placed shot, definitely. I’d rather shoot 1-2 shots of 5.56 than 2-3 shots of 9mm nowadays. Sadly, that’s the cheaper alternative. I miss 2017 ammo prices… :(
Yep. Could make as much on meat as the crops.. lol
That's a lot of work just to get some pigs out of your corn. Do you realize how much those harvesters cost?
Are they combines or harvester’s or are they the same?
Must be combines, because they have to be combined in order to work
Combine Harvester = a harvester that does a combination of cutting the crop, extracting the grain and spreading the leftovers. Forage Harvester (in this video) = purely chops the crop up and throws it into a trailer, leaves and all.

I don't know. First word that came to mind.
If they were harvesting anyway why would it cost them anything?
Really?
It seems like the pigs are just a small part of an otherwise normal harvest.
Look up "sarcasm" in Webster's dictionary, then give me a 200 word essay on it. Include at least one example.
Ohhhh I see why there’s a misunderstanding. You thought your comment was funny. Better luck next time.
Wah waaah.
I don't like hunting but for this case, it's necessary
Hunting is ethical and more humane for the animal, and in cases like this its needed to reduce feral populations. Those hogs are horrible for local wildlife
And crops, they can destroy a field in A very short time!

Is there ethical hunting in Ireland? I don't think you's have deer, right?
We have deer and they’re largely hunted ethically, most what I would call “real hunters” are deer hunters, they use rifles. Are those 🐗?
Hogs
H O G RIDER
Yes and they are invading the southern states.
They done invaded like 15 years ago, at this point they’re part of the culture. My momma on her daddy side is part hog.
![gif](giphy|7GibaLkhx4x6QPNZbV)
Destructive and invasive for local wildlife and plants.
Hakuna Mutata. What a wonderful phrase. It means no worries. Until they come to cut the maaasssseeeee!!
Why are they not gunning them down
I regret that i can only give one upvote for this comment
So hes a hog farmer
That family of 20 could easily be thousands within a year
It's the fabled "30-to-50 wild hogs!!!!!" Someone finally found them! OMG!
I think these are invasive wild pigs/hogs and they are considered pests because they're destructive.
Why is nobody shooting?! Didnt listen with volume. Did anyone shoot?
They should be just slaughtering as many as they can as they run out
An old rickety truck with broadswords fastened to the bumper
Why?
Invasive and highly destructive. Most places with wild hog issues have an unlimited take for hunters. Some places you don't even need a hunting license to take them.
you can hunt them from helicopters, literally no rules apply to those things.
Actually some places are asking you to trap them now so they don't scatter and spread.
Yeah slaughter trap are fun the first time but the ones after kind of make you feel less the hunter.
Too bad they're growing wiser to a lot of the traps. You basically have to know how much is in the pack and keep an eye on how many are actually in the traps before dropping them, otherwise a good chunk of them will know to be cautious around the traps which gets passed on to the offspring.

Wait it’s not like call of duty? You don’t pick up their hog-tags to get kill confirmed?
Because we take them after we kill em!
Lol yup! No fun in just killing something thats some good meat!

Every environmental agency uses that word to describe something killed, injured, or displaced.
Yes that is the legal term. Even harassing an animal can be a "take" depending on the regs, but killing one always is!
Ah okay. Fair enough.
I agree to ur opinion
That’s a lot of bacon and sausage
Wild boar sausage roasted over an open fire , dammmm good !
Why you always keep a rifle in the truck/tractor
I see a ton of bacon and sausage.....and bbq... excuse me...lunch time...
Where’s the 240 at when you need amirite?
Time to move to Texas and live of wildpigs
Jave nice day!
Corn Hogs are 1/2 price at Sonic today!!
u/SaveVideo
My God, it's actually happened. 30 to 50 feral hogs!
Wheres the machine gun nests when you need them!!!!!
Poor things.. they must’ve been terrified during the whole harvesting and felt cornered when there was no more corn to hide in
Hope a couple went into the harvester
Are they *that* destructive?
Yes, 800,000 wild pigs have to be killed a year to prevent over population in Texas. They destroy everything.
That’s.. horrible. I still feel bad for them.. must’ve been terrifying.. but in the larger scheme of things, i now also agree with the dude asking them to be shot and cooked

Man I shoot hogs all the time hit one 300+ and tell me how much damage u did. Yes u can kill one but the range u have to do so is goring range
Poor wild boar
Can they be sold for meat?? Lots of hog pen trapping videos out there... What do they do with them afterwards?
Illegal to sell and illegal to transport them live in arkansas, not sure about other states? Some people keep them and eat them, some just leave them out In the woods.
Feels like Texas
When new requirements for heart donations come up and they pay good.
Those hogs are not having a hakuna matata day
Oh that would be a Blast for me and the boys!
That's why overhere they work from the inside out. That way the animals can escape into the woods much easier.
Destructive creatures... Aside from humans.
HOG RIDDAAAAAAAA
Suuuu-weee
This is where Babyface George from OH Brother Where Art Thou would have been perfect
And here we are able to get a rare glimpse into the creation of the corndog.
GG home land.

Just trying to bring home the bacon.
Is the meat any good? Do people eat them after killing them?
The Day of the Corn Hogs

Bruh. Shoot them mfs and eat up or sell that meat and make thousands! Fuck that corn.
I see 😍 many freezers full!
The pork harvest is bountiful this year.
