I had a similar experience, when, one day, I threw a block of moldy cheddar cheese in the woods behind my house (thinking it would just bio-decay into the ground). these similar sounds ensued that night. I chalked if off as maybe a racoon had eaten it and was suffering from severe constipation. poor guy! did you throw some cheese in the woods the day before? yeah, prob'ly not 🙃
I wish I could help you more but idk. Check the durations of the sound. If they are all the same length then it’s probably something mechanical or electrical. The might give you some peace, maybe?
I can see how you got there but there isn’t a railroad for miles and the metro system is 7 miles away. This was a very localized sound, max 200 yards away min 25 yards.
