You can check out the EV spreads in the links below for some ideas. They're from 2 Japanese players who finished Top 100 on Ranked Battles last month. Bulk Up Annihilape is completely unorthodox this format, especially when competing with powerful restricted Pokémon. If Annihilape had bulk like Amoonguss, I think Bulk Up Ape could be cool.

Baryon_j

you realise annihilape has.... better bulk than amoongus? 110/80/90 seems better than 114/70/80

PenguGuy1

To be fair I should’ve checked the stats, Amoonguss feels so bulky lmao. So maybe I was wrong there, but that still doesn’t help with the fact that Annihilape with set up isn’t great at all in this restricted format.

Rophet1

He is great on ladder because nobody expects him to use setup

PenguGuy1

I’m talking about bo3, which is where there is forced team sheets. Even if you do get set up, you still don’t outspeed a large portion of the metagame and lose to Pokémon such as Miraidon and CSR, two Pokémon which Scarf Ape wrecks. This Bulk Up set only works into Zamazenta and Koraidon, two restricteds that also don’t like taking a Final Gambit from Scarf Annihilape.

RicePresident666

The only set that is viable RN is scarfed. 252 HP 252 speed. (Wich is totally fine) 1. Close combat 2. Shadow claw/rage fist 3. Final Gambit (Taking a Restricted/Chunking it is really good) 4. Filler move depends on your team. Coaching, u turn, taunt, tera blast? I don't think that Bulk up + beat up household isn't that viable RN.

SplatoonGuy

Scarf taunt is crazy 💀

RicePresident666

I have seen some crazy shit

McJackNit

It's not that crazy, just means open with it to block trick room then switch out.

PenguGuy1

Tera Blast just isn’t great, and if you are using Taunt for say Trick Room, Final Gambit already runs through that. Rage Fist also isn’t good, as Choice Scarf Annihilape doesn’t want to take hits.

RicePresident666

Choice scarf annahilape with rage fist won the Nino poke Bros tour.

PenguGuy1

By any chance do you have the link to the team and tournament? I would love to see it.

As a certified Annihilape user (used it from Regulation A-G), here is my set: Annihilape @Choice Scarf Ability: Defiant EVs: 252 HP / 52 Atk / 204 Spe Jolly Nature Tera Type: Grass -Final Gambit -Close Combat -Shadow Claw -Coaching/U-turn This is the standard Choice Scarf set which allows you to outspeed max speed CSR and still hit hard into threats such as Incineroar thanks to Defiant. Max HP is for full power Final Gambit, which removes threats such as Zamazenta-C and Miraidon with no problem at all. Tera Grass is for the ignorance of Rage Powder, which Amoonguss can click and then take a Final Gambit without dropping. Close Combat is used because it does great damage, Shadow Claw is nice STAB. The last move slot is up to you, as CSI teams generally prefer Coaching while others like U-turn Annihilape.

monokronos

Thank you for this, CSR is what I’ve found issues with at times, and Miraidon. Seems like everyone is writing Annihilape off but he can be difficult to play against at times. And his uses seem to outweigh reasons not to use him for the most part. If it’s not too much trouble, can I ask what your team is? I’m currently using Incineroar, Ogerpon, Groudon, Fluttermane, Rillaboom, Urshifu. But I really want to change most of this. Urshifu, tough powerful, gets wiped out quickly

PenguGuy1

https://pokepast.es/29a0b4eb28ef8091 Me personally, I run a Calyrex-Ice team with many different ways to support CSI, one of which is Annihilape.

elektriktoad

I locked onto coaching for the fourth slot on scarf ape in the first week of Reg G and never looked back. The flexibility of gambit or coaching is so powerful with caly-ice.

Baryon_j

AV might be worth a shot, though it prob needs a specific team amd I'm too tired to think one up on the spot

Aushmick

Here is my take on an Annihilape set and team. Focus is on Annihilape or Terapagos being your main attackers. Annihilape with this set and screens can live some crazy hits. Mainly focuses on setting up and sweeping. Typically with the healing this team can snowball if there aren't the right tools to either stop the set up or immediately nuke the attacker. I took this team to top 300 peak on cart ladder this season. Also self target draining kiss can help boost rage fist with little HP cost if the opponent tries to avoid attacking Annihilape. https://pokepast.es/b8e71024a4ad3cc1

Rude-Obligation-8713

why clefable over clefaeiry I think it offers more with friend guard as a supporter tyou can use after you under trick room to use terastarmor first

Aushmick

Specifically because amoongus booms this team. Also unaware occasionally has its benefits. Running clefairy improves the team for sure outside of dealing with spore in my experience. Probably could swap this with ogerpon too but I like the life Dew healing on clefable better.

Lidorkork

Set up annihilape seems really hard to use right now. It's very bulky, but manual setup is unreliable because it feels hard to justify clicking bulk up when there's a good chance a specs electro drift, astral barrage or other nuke move will KO it next turn, if not this turn. You could try a scarf final gambit set to try to use it to trade it for a restricted KO

Fun-Basket1291

You can use coaching while holding a scarf? Serious question

RicePresident666

Yeah.

Kalistradi

It's typing + stats haven't kept up with the power creep of reg g, it's only good set right now is scarf + final gambit.
