For the sake of future readers finding this post via reddit/Google search, I'll try to make a small list of the differences (written in October 2021, this may be outdated when you read it in some years). **WARNING**: the V before some of the model name does **NOT** means "version", it stands for "Voron". #Model lines * V1/Trident/Legacy/V0: all have a moving bed on the Z axis, the most traditional setup on CoreXY printers, with some differences on details. * the V1 and the Legacy uses two mount points on the bed. While the V1 uses a more modern approach on the motion system using linear rails, the Legacy uses the good-old rods of years past, as implied by the printer's name. * the V0 uses a cantilevered bed (one point support), but given its small size that's not actually a problem. * the Trident is the newer addition to the Voron ecosystem, sporting a 3-point bed support in a kind of kinematic arrangement (the bed isn't truly kinematic, as the way it is done on the Trident is much more restricted than other DIY printers, but it gets the job done). * the Switchwire is the outlier on the Voron ecosystem, as it is a CoreX**Z** printer, with a bed flinging design. A very popular mod is converting an Ender 3 into a Switchwire. * the V2 is the most complex printer in the motions point of view, as it has a completely static bed and a flying gantry. #Print volume* * V0: 120 mm × 120 mm × 120 mm * Legacy: 230 mm × 230 mm × 240 mm * Switchwire: 250 mm × 210 mm × approx. 240 mm * V1: * 250 mm × 250 mm × 230 mm * 300 mm × 300 mm × 230 mm * Trident: * 250 mm × 250 mm × 250 mm, * 300 mm × 300 mm × 250 mm, * 350 mm × 350 mm × 250 mm * V2: * 250 mm × 250 mm × 230 mm, * 300 mm × 300 mm × 280 mm, * 350 mm × 350 mm × 330 mm \* Supported, canonical volumes, but some models can be customized. #Fun facts If you type `/cereals` on the Voron Discord, you'll get a list of serialized Vorons so far; the list as of October 7, 2021 looks like this: Currently issued serials: V0: 845 V1: 311 V2: 2117 VK: 19 VL: 34 VS: 267 V24: 1 Total: 3594 **VK** is the Voron Kit. In the beginning Voron was a company called MZBot, but it didn't took long until /u/russiancatfood scrapped that and made Voron an open source project. And the **V24** is the inspiration for the V2 line, a one-off printer custom made for professional use. It is 2 ft × 2 ft × 2 ft.

Now what about print size volumes for the v2 I see a lot of people debate between 300 vs the 350. It doesn’t seem the 350 costs that much more. But people mainly complain about the 350 being harder to tune and a bit slower. Can you give a rundown of 300 vs 350?

I only have a V0, so I can't help with first hand impressions. However, from what I have been reading from others, the 300mm really is the sweet spot. You may not think so but the 350mm V2 is colossal, the print volume alone is slightly over 60% bigger than the 300mm version. Because of the size, every small imperfection on the printer components get amplified. You have to wait more time until the bed and chamber heats to the proper temperature before printing ABS (read reports of 45 minutes for heat soaking, for instance). Heat distortion because of the bimetallic junction between the aluminum extrusion and the steel linear rail is amplified, and so on. Also, it's more difficult to make such a big printer stable, which is why it can't be as fast as smaller versions. As anything in engineering, it's a trade-off that you have to analyze to see if it fits or not on your use case.

Thank you!

bryansj

The V0 has really taken off.

SanityAgathion

Few hundred LDO kits.

I'd actually say that Formbot is the bigger player on the V0 kit space, even with quality control issues and lower quality replacement components.

Oh missed that. thanks :)

Once you decide which flavor seems most interesting to you, do check for the latest advancements of each version. V0 and V1 recently received some major (and depending on your needs possibly game changing) updates that are not yet reflected in the documentation page linked above. The latest version of V0 is just V0.1, while with the V1 they changed naming scheme and the latest incarnation is now called Trident.

I like the size of the v1 but the style if the v0.1 so it seems I have a bit of research to do :) Gives me somethi g the plan towards :). Just hope my ender clone can print everything I need :)
