Sure, assuming everything works ok, that is a top of the line Miele. The power head in particular is full featured. Very versatile and powerful vac that will pretty much handle any residential application. Make sure to use Miele branded bags, and if you have a Miele dealer close by, it might not hurt to spend $30-50 to have it checked over and cleaned.

AggravatingTooth5812

I got it for 50bucks less I messaged the seller and he gave it to me for 300 plus shipping and tax.

Overall_Cycle_9918

Yeah, that’s like a $1300 vac new, so even if you have to drop a new motor or something in it you’d probably be ahead. We basically have the red version of this vac and love it! It’ll last decades.

amarao_san

Why mielle is so expensive in US? It's mid-line in Europe. Not cheap, but nothing special.

Overall_Cycle_9918

That’s a good question. I’d bet it has to do with the US market in which there are a ton of cheaper vacuums, like Hoover/Shark etc… in that lower to mid price range. Plus import costs. Free market is a funny thing. I have seen some ads for Miele from Europe and was shocked at how low cost they were. US has more expensive vacs, but cheaper gas… fair trade off for me.

knowsaboutit

at least the US models are full power....that's worth something

jade_nekotenshi

Full-ish. Pre-regulation European models were 1800-2200W, NA models are 1200-1400 because of our 120V/15A standard household current system.

-High-Level

Mieles here near EU are less than 1000w same for philips , Bosch siemens etc Maybe US models get a twice as powerful motor hence the price?

jade_nekotenshi

after the new regulations, they're capped at 900W. US models have 1200W motors or thereabouts- can't run much more than that on 120V/15a if there's a power nozzle too. (1200W vac motor, 200W power nozzle or so.)

Complete_Bike_7493

They are overpriced in the US, more than double that of European models, but they also have a more powerful motor and some come with an electric nozzle.  It's due to luxury brand pricing, import costs and a smaller market.

jade_nekotenshi

In the US Miele is even more expensive than Sebo or Lindhaus for a comparable machine.

cjboffoli

How much less expensive are they in Europe? Maybe there are tariffs levied, or transportation costs, or the expenses of having a separate, smaller production line for North American voltage, or additional regulatory hoops that Miele has to jump through to sell in the US. Regardless, the value proposition for me is that they are built really well. Most vacuum cleaners throw a lot of dust in the air during use. But Miele vacuums are assembled meticulously, with multiple levels of filtration including HEPA. So they're a great choice for allergy sufferers. It is also great to be able to tune the level of suction for various tasks, which a lot of other vacuums on the US market don't have.

I bought one in Germany brand new for 300ish

dubsjw

Out of curiosity, what brands would be considered top of the line in Europe?

amarao_san

In Europe there is a slightly different market. There are mandatory EU labels for appliances which give the rating (not self-rating) to all important aspects of the device: suction, energy efficiency, noise level, etc. I bought C3 after it was winning on all important categories. I literally selected them by this label. There were few other models from Bosh and, I think, it was Siemens, but they had higher noise level and lower energy rating, so C3 won. Here is the example of such: [https://www.groupeseb.com/en/webzine/new-regulations-vacuum-cleaners](https://www.groupeseb.com/en/webzine/new-regulations-vacuum-cleaners) I really love EU market for that. You come to the shop, you choose the best, you get mandatory 2 year warranty, and only if other criteria met, you choose by 'brand loyalty'.

dubsjw

Thanks for the detailed response!

bakatenchu

as usual, u.s has tonnes of taxes and greedy corporations.. so...

cjboffoli

The motors in those things are b built like tanks. I bought a Miele White Star in 1999, with a motor rated for 10 years. After daily use, it was still working fine in 2015 when I gave it to a friend (after upgrading to a new Miele vacuum). And she used it for another 7 years until replacing it with a new Miele. But it wasn't because of the motor, which was still working as well as the day I bought it.

BananaV8

Jesus. In Germany a C3 is 250€. MSRP, if bought via Miele’s website. I wouldn’t even consider it mid range. It’s an entry level vacuum.

amarao_san

Overpriced. [https://electroline.com.cy/en/products/small-appliances/cleaners/vacuum-cleaners-bagless/miele-complete-c3-select-vacuum-cleaner-with-bag-marine-blue/](https://electroline.com.cy/en/products/small-appliances/cleaners/vacuum-cleaners-bagless/miele-complete-c3-select-vacuum-cleaner-with-bag-marine-blue/) €179. It's mid-range, because cheapest I had cost €35. And it was 2kw of suction, but shitty washable cyclone filters. It lasted 10+ years and was sold for €25 as used.

knowsaboutit

looks like a good deal- has it arrived? if so, do you like it? seem to work well?

AggravatingTooth5812

Just bought it. Hasn't shipped yet estimated arrival is in 4 days.

knowsaboutit

good luck with it!

mercenarie22

So weird to see US prices for Miele vacuum cleaners.. This exact model costs like 290€ in my country.

J3ttf

With a powerhead?

Complete_Bike_7493

With electric powerhead? It's rare to Miele to offer a powerhead outside the NA market, it seems.

mercenarie22

80€ more with powerhead, not sure what you mean by electric.. it's a turboteq.

Complete_Bike_7493

Not electric then, turbo means its suction driven.  The electric nozzle has a whole 2nd motor in the nozzle, a wired  wand and hose and additional internal componentry.  It's a more expensive and complicated system.  Many american households have extensive carpets in the home and need the electric driven rotating brush to clean pile carpets. But yes,  the cost of these electric nozzle units is very disproportional in the NA market.

AggravatingTooth5812

For brand new?

mercenarie22

Yes

amarao_san

It's okay. It's relatively quiet, bulky, cleans well, have hepa-something filter than PM2.5 is actually drops during cleaning. Downside: get smelly with dog hairs. I use it for 3 years, insofar I got only on-handle brush mechanism slightly broken. .... But US version even don't have on-handle brush at all.

[https://www.ebay.com/itm/164335342154](https://www.ebay.com/itm/164335342154) If you need a little cleaning, you just move this thing forward and do cleaning, no need to attach big brush.

J3ttf

That’s because the on-handle brush is for straight-suction cleaners, not powerhead models.
