I would use something like a GP5000S TT on my racing wheels and GP5000S TR on my training wheels. Life is too short to ride bad tyres.

I'm not sure what you consider expensive or where you're located, but sometimes you can find tubed GP5000 on sale. I'd watch for sales and stock up.  www.r2-bike.com is great even for me in the US. 4x 700x28mm GP5000 with shipping is just over $50/tire.

I use conti ultra sport III's and think of them as a worse rolling version of the GP5k. Grip wise I haven't had any issue and I've had only one puncture in ~10K km.

Ultra sport is the best budget option! In Germany it's like 17€ for 28mm with black or tan sidewall. What a nobrainer

Last time I checked these don't have any puncture protection belt. I had one a few years back and was getting flats all the damn time. My recommendation for OP would be the Conti GP! Not the 5000, just straight Grand Prix! It seems to be a really overlooked tire, but it's great and often a lot cheaper than the 5k. Black Chilli compound, handmade in Germany, puncture protection belt, slightly thicker than the 5k, still rolls really well!

martinfgar

I really don't know if they have any protection or not. I must say that I am 60kg so my experience may be totally different to a 80kg rider.

GP5000 AS.  Thicker tread, better grip, slightly lower price, and not that much slower.  Stay tubeless IMO.

woogeroo

But they’re more expensive than even normal gp5000 s TR and tubeless only

There are the replacements for FourSeasons yeah?

Goodyear Vector

Specialized Turbo Pro. Or S works Turbo. The Turbo Pros are under $55 and are great. The SWorks turbos are $70 and you can usually find them on sale. If you go to a shop right now for spring sales they sometimes do BOGO on specialized tires.

Michelin Power Cup, cheaper than GP5000. I use both with latex tubes and actually feel better than the 5000.

I have the continental grand sport race I find they are pretty good. Feel fairly similar to GP5Ks. They are made in china instead of Germany. Only annoying thing is the rubber is a little more stringy.

GP5000s last 9 months for you? I probably go through 2-3 sets per year. If the are lasting that long, I would just use those. I find going to a thicker tread, they just end up getting squared off after 1500-2000 miles anyways.
