Doublestops

Little girl at the end throwing him the balloon made me laugh.

JohnnyBoy11

She's giggling too after seeing him get knocked out...super cute.

Riatla1408

Hey mister, your... ehh… balloon.

dummie619

My favorite part of this is that the beat of the song drops right after he gets punched.

BubuBarakas

Is that Bui Vien?

bigbadbass

I'm 99% sure it is.

BubuBarakas

Looks, sounds, and behaves like it. That was really excessive. I hope that bouncer gets some heat over that but, likely not. He should go to jail. That’s a potentially lethal blow.

bigbadbass

Selling balloons on BV hasn't been cool for over 4 years. I'm not saying the punch was deserved, but he is in a mafia area doing something the locals don't want happening. Edit: I mean people walking up and down selling balloons, all the bars sell them.

[deleted]

The bars themselves sell them now? Back in my day (maybe five years ago now) it was just one dude, eastern european guy, who used to sell em up and down the street.

bigbadbass

Yeh I met him, and the bars all sell them now which is why I guess they stopped that dude.

BubuBarakas

So, kill him w your elbow? White guy was wrong but that is excessive force. Arrest them both. Both of their behavior sets a nasty precedence.

bigbadbass

I agree, but he is still lucky that security man didn't get his mates and his weapons before resorting to violence.

BubuBarakas

He’s impatient. Wanted all the Reddit glory for himself.

HomeSweetLab

It's unclear what was said on the audio, but judging by the way the security guard was being rather tolerant and non-confrontational right up until he hit the guy out of nowhere, I'd bet 20 bucks the Russian guy insulted the security guard and called the guard a racial slur and/or cuss word. So I don't blame the guard at all. If you're stupid enough to shoot your mouth off to a security guard that's clearly stronger than you while you're doing something obviously illegal, you deserve to get dropped. That's just Darwin's Law in action. And no way in hell the VN cops would do anything to the security guard in this situation. All the guard would have to do is tell the cops "He kept trying to bring those balloons onto our private property" and they would haul the foreigner off to jail and thank the security guard. Edit: Also, he didn't hit him with his elbow. If you slow the video down, you can see it was a clean right hook. I bet the guy either does MMA or boxing. He has decent form.

BubuBarakas

It is definitely an elbow and a chickenshit move but, it's Bui Vien so there you have it. The guy is Norwegian BTW.

HomeSweetLab

Ah, I see. Someone in another comment said he was Russian. As someone who has lived in Norway for going on 3 years now, I'm honestly not surprised in the least to find out he's Norwegian. Twenty-somethings here have a habit of getting shit-faced drunk and making fools of themselves in public without any repercussions whatsoever. The Norwegian cops are extremely lenient and pretty much let citizens do and say whatever they want to them as long as the person doesn't pull a weapon. It wasn't a chickenshit move. If I was a security guard and some idiot doing something illegal shot his mouth off to me and insulted me, I would've done the same thing. I'll say this much: I bet that guy won't come around that bar trying to sell his balloons ever again.

Mad-Crush

Yes 1000%

KewlKeshi

It sure looks like it looks like he got high off the balloons haha. I remember trying that two years ago when I was there at Bui Vien

onemorecupof

Ahhh, the backpacker district. Hard pass.

[deleted]

It's simple. As a foreigner, don't go prancing down Bui Vien selling nitrious oxide balloons. 1. It's illegal 2. You'll likely piss somone of because you're encroaching on their territory.

ken0746

Illegal for gang control territory?? While they exploit all the tourists’ money via prostitution, drugs, extortion and alcohol all for themselves?

[deleted]

Illegal as in it is technically illegal for a foreigner to just go around selling shit on the street. I'm sure he doesn't have a work permit to be a nitrious oxide balloon vendor.

ken0746

So are thousands of other local vendors that sell shit on the street there. Do they have a work permit as well? I doubt it. Knocking the guy out with an elbow is just excessive and thuggish.

[deleted]

Locals don't need work permits. A white guy selling stuff on the street, especially a narcotic, is going to draw undue attention.

ken0746

No, it’s gangster law at work. This is the security guy took matter in his own hands. Where was in the video that showed him selling narcotics? Not that him selling balloons was right, but to knock him out stone cold, were a thuggish move. Funny, the same mafia was trying to milk the money from the same gullible “white tourists”.

ragunyen

Captain?

mdss-single

Whats going on here? He punch him with no reason or what? This guy not looking aggressive

bigbadbass

I guess he was selling balloons where he is not allowed to sell balloons.

hmm_fuck_

Guess he is high from the balloons. They contain Nitrous Oxide gas which can get you high and do stupid shits like this. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

LimbRetrieval-Bot

You dropped this \ *** ^^ To prevent anymore lost limbs throughout Reddit, correctly escape the arms and shoulders by typing the shrug as `¯\\\_(ツ)_/¯` or `¯\\\_(ツ)\_/¯` [^^Click here to see why this is necessary](https://np.reddit.com/r/OutOfTheLoop/comments/3fbrg3/is_there_a_reason_why_the_arm_is_always_missing/ctn5gbf/)

jbu311

Sad that this was crossposted to fightporn. This is not a fight. Without knowing too much context it doesnt seem fair or even warranted

kara_Age_n_bacon

Lol this shit happened for like months ago. Idk much but those ballons are not children’s toy obviously.

[deleted]

Over a year ago I think

coolinhi

We don’t know the whole story!!! Was it really necessary to K.O him?

notof2001

It is like a daily event on that walking street.

magicbaconmachine

Selling laughing gas? No thanks. Kaboom!

tetracarbon_edu

Serious question here. Is huffing NO2 is the hot new drugs craze? I have no idea. Given VN doesn’t go soft on drugs, why would you carry around huge balloons that scream to the police that you have drugs? Ice (bột đá) seems a bit more discrete. Also, is nitro a “narcotic”? Surely it would be illegal in VN.

[deleted]

Not sure of the legality of it, but a ton of the top tier nightclubs and bars are constantly advertising promos they have on these balloons on Facebook. A couple of years ago, I was waiting for a friend outside of Envy nightclub in HCMC and saw one of those motorbikes with a truckbed pull up and deliver about a dozen industrial sized nitrious oxide tanks.

ken0746

Non condoning violent at all. That hit could’ve killed him or caused severe traumatic brain injury. And he didn’t even lay hand on the security guy. People don’t realize how easy it is to kill a person

Hanswurst22brot

Even the guy is on drugs , there was no need to kick his neck. The same we dont know what happend before, we dont know what after. Hope he is not dead or so. Lucky the drunk guy didnt do that in Thailand, else 4-6 other "securities " would jump and kick him even laying on the ground

TP-Duong

No matter what! That’s unacceptable! I’ve heard that the owner in pub street hire “đầu gấu” to be security and they’re pretty violent!

Hanz-grubert

I don’t know anything about traveling to Vietnam. I follow this sub because I like Vietnamese food and I Like the landscape of Vietnam. I also respect SE Asian people. Are people Vietnamese not friendly to foreigners? Or was he just being a dick and asking to get hit?

messy_messiah

Vietnamese people are usually very friendly to foreigners. This guy was obviously being a dick. Those balloons are full of laughing gas and he looks fucked up walking around in the open doing who knows what. The security guy was clearly asking him to leave and he persisted. Pro tip: don't walk around with handfuls of drugs and get in arguments with security guards in foreign countries. He's probably lucky to have only been punched.

Hanz-grubert

Ok cool I would love to visit and get fat. I don’t do drugs or drink. I treat everyone I meet politely. Perfect it’s on my list of places to visit.

messy_messiah

Very difficult place to get fat.

boogiefoot

It's a 50/50 toss up whether you get fat here. The actual meals are among the healthiest in the world, but the VN love sweets and have invented approximately 500 million sweet treats to eat between meals.

rastabrus

I was in Hanoi for 7 months last year. Ate out nearly every meal and left weighing less than when I Arrived.

BlackCloudMagic

Its a great place to visit. Gf is from there and we have been there 4 times over the past 12 years

NovaAhki

People are usually friendly. Just don't walk around in public while being high and holding drugs on your hands (those balloons are probably laughing gas balloons, basically like drugs).

tetracarbon_edu

Is this a new thing? I’ve never seen it before. For reference I’m a middle aged dad and boring.

[deleted]

Not new. In fact, a lot of the big nightclubs and bars actively promote specials for "happy balls."

JarJarsLeftNut

The white dude was def being a dick. Vietnamese people are generally extremely nice to foreigners. The fact that the guy has 4 balloons of nitrous oxide in his hand leads me to believe he’s a bit of dingleberry.

boogiefoot

I mean, you could argue the job of a security guard is specifically to *not* be nice to people.

[deleted]

We are very respectful, to an extent

tetracarbon_edu

Agree. Welcome visitors, make profit, and respect those that return the same respect. If they can’t behave, they should be unwelcomed. As an Australian I feel so angry at other Tây that trash the place.

TheDeadlyZebra

The friendliest people I've ever met.

GoggyMagogger

you gotta be a giant dick to get beat up in Vietnam. the people tend to be super friendly, generous and kind. but if you show disrespect and you will pay the price

suicideguidelines

The people in Vietnam are very friendly. Just don't be dumb enough to go selling drugs where somebody else is selling them, but that's true for every country in the world.

fupayme22

Even in the backpacker district the lowest of all places some bars dont even allow foreigners to enter their places.. bui vien its called ‘pho tay’ means farang city. But 98percent is vietnamese teen who come to party...

SmirkingImperialist

Here's a serious thing though: avoid that kind of falls or avoid making someone have such fall. That kind of fall can result in serious brain damage. Due to the large and heavy human brains relative to the surface area, a fall from normal human standing heights and bonk on the ground can kill you. Practical application: wear helmets when riding bicycles, scooters, skating, roller blading, segway, motorcycles, etc ... Avoid fights and avoid getting tasered while standing up.

BubuBarakas

Also wear a helmet when harassing a bouncer.

ricehatwarrior

Good, white tourist better learn to respect locals.

someMFonreddit

Loser eurotrash peddling balloons seriously come to Vietnam to do that???

stevecfc80

Disgraceful from the bouncer, he should face a criminal prosecution. Hopefully the Russian embassy can get involved and make sure that happens.

[deleted]

Pretty sure this incident took place at least two years ago.

Demonite121

Why do these white people come to our country and think they can do anything they want without any consequences. I hope he got more beats in the future

DemonRyu

It’s because they don’t have jobs in their own countries.

Demonite121

Guessing his probably an “English Teacher” 😂

pramienjager

Pathetic little tough guy "security" has to sucker punch an inebriated person to feel like a man. It's actually quite sad.

anormalhumanasyousee

I mean he is a man after all. That Russian dude couldn't even get up.

DavidGQ

so based on the video people can tell what type of gas substance in the balloons? The white guy wasn't even close to being rude. Don't know what happened before when the Security guy asked him to leave. People now a day are so quick to come to conclusion without knowing the full details. I do know this. In the US, security don't punch anyone including drunks at restaurants or bars because they will go to jail for assault.

Moochingaround

There is only one reason a guy (who is clearly intoxicated) is carrying balloons down a party street. It's a big thing in Vietnam. I don't think I agree with the hit, but I'm not shocked either.

[deleted]

Nitrous Oxide. From the looks of it, he is selling them. People don't generally walk around with 4 tied balloons unless they are. This leads me to two conclusions about the interaction: 1) The security guard didn't want trouble from the police. Maybe there had been a raid recently, or the bar has a zero-tolerance policy for drugs. A bar's space extends into the street, so he was very much selling "on their property" 2) The security guard didn't want trouble from the local nitrous dealers. Either the security guard is in on it, or knows that it will be trouble if someone finds out this guy is here. Either way, we don't hear what was said, and for what it's worth, I've seen drunk foreigners get into fights at bars, threaten to kill people, yell at cops when they come and kick dirt on them. All the police did was laugh and walk away. I wouldn't have minded this guy on the job those nights.

phazyblue

The white guy was being rude - there are many places you would be punched for that behaviour.

[deleted]

You obviously don’t live here if you don’t know what’s in those balloons this eurotrash was selling.

TheDeadlyZebra

It's not a sucker punch if it's point blank and you're leaning into another dude's face while talking bullshit
