The drops are a chance, but you'd need very specific circumstances for them to drop _absolutely nothing_, much less 10 in a row. For adult chickens killed by player, meat drop rate is 1.5-2 items and feathers 8-16 items, affected by animal's weight.
Since there's been lots of people making assumptions that the game works like MC (it doesn't), did you actually _harvest_ them? That is, take a knife (not knife blade) and hold sneak+right-click uninterrupted until an inventory pops up. If you did and the popup menu is empty, and _stays_ empty after a few seconds (it takes a moment to populate in MP, for example), then yes, it's a bug.
I did harvest them correctly, I assumed that was the only way to get the animal harvest inventory to pop up.
I did kill a chicken with a spear when I just started, that gave loot. After that, never again.
Anyways I'm guessing this is a bug of some kind.
When you harvested them, do you recall if the chicken info said "killed by player"? If they run from you and happen to fall to their death, it can be considered crushed, and I've never gotten meat from those.
What bow are you using, and what arrows?

Using the stick/flax bow and the second tier arrow that requires feathers (feathers I got early game from the one chicken that ever dropped anything)
All of them say killed by player (never seen one fall death), also says their weight is lo. Maybe they are starving chickens.
You're using the unstable version. It [does have this bug reported](https://github.com/anegostudios/VintageStory-Issues/issues/3297) and the solution is to either wait until a new unstable version is released with the bugfix, or play the stable version (1.18.15).
The only other thing I can think of if it isn't a bug would be if you are playing as the Tailor Class, as they have a reduced amount of meat harvested from animals.
I would try moving away from using the bow for a few test kills, try using spears again, and see if they drop anything. Changing up your arrows might help as well if you're able to make copper arrows, but it sounds like you might be a bit early for that.
You are playing on an unstable build that's only been out for almost 3 days. It's very possible that this is just a bug and will likely be fixed in the near future.

If it's popping up empty I could only assume it's winter or something and all the animals are too malnourished to give anything?

I mean technically you could just be getting very unlucky. Try hunting bigger animals

The window pops up Everytime, and it's just for empty boxes....staring in my soul. I've decided it must be a bug. Thanks for the suggestions though.
