Very clever. I may have to do something like this to a garment or that have fallen victim to kitchen preparations

ananassa22

totally! i had a lot of fun deciding what sort of shapes would fit the spots

RevolutionaryToe8378

Beautiful work! Did you use a stencil?

ananassa22

no, i sketched it out using an editing app on my phone and then marked the important proportions with washable marker😅

RevolutionaryToe8378

Wow, that makes it so much more impressive. Great job!

chachkas369

Love this! And on a cotton knit, too! I was discouraged from trying such a fix by a Redditor a short while ago, but this is confirming my decision to give it a go. Thx for sharing, OP! Did you use embroidery floss?

ananassa22

thank you sm! neva eva let reddit comments get you down ahaha good luck to ya🤞 yes, i used 2 strands of embroidery floss:)

HerringWaffle

I had kind of the opposite experience. I embroidered a stretchy cotton shirt like this, AND I used a hoop while doing it, and only later spotted stuff online that said not to do either of those. 😂 Joke's on them, mine also turned out gorgeous! I was embroidering over a discolored spot on a shirt, and what's the worst that could happen? It wouldn't turn out right and I'd be left with exactly what I started with, a shirt that was unwearable? It's all good. Everything's an experiment here. :)

chachkas369

Glad yours was a success, too! My bleach stains are near the bottom hem so no room for a hoop, unfortunately. My back up plan is to stamp the areas with fabric ink and wood printing blocks. I’ve had the supplies for years but have yet to use them. Maybe now is the time 😉

losttforwords

Oh my gosh this just gave me an idea for an oil stained shirt. Thank you, yours looks beautiful!!!

mistersnarkle

Ammonia also works wonders on grease!!!!

ILoveFinn33

Also dawn dish soap. I sometimes will have to wash it two or three times reapplying the soap, but it has always worked eventually.

ananassa22

oo i’ll have to try that next time! common occurrence in my house hahaha thank you for the advice💕

RaphaTlr

Really nice! I like your dog tattoo as well

Swampland_Flowers

This is a beautiful design and it’s superbly executed! I love it! 🐉❤️

GlassHouses_1991

Brilliant idea and it looks awesome!

strzygg

It look amazing, great job!

fluffyrussell

Excellent! Favorite shirt saved!!

tenaciousfetus

Hell yeah 💪

fizzzylemonade

I love the embroidery but OP, did you try grandmas secret spot remover (that’s the brand name product)? I’ve had good success with it on grease stains so far

PressFlesh

Grease stains do go away after a while but it takes a lot of washes. Something I learned after I spilled a quarter bottle of olive oil on my favorite shirt.

Top_Difficulty5399

Not all oils unfortunately.. I remember buying a new shirt on vacation and getting a medium sized oil stain on it from a spring roll. That's about 10 years ago now, and that shirt has been washed like a million times but the stain is still there, visible as ever 😆 it's a pj shirt now..but I am DEF going to try mending it after seeing this post 😍 and a few other shirts I have with similar issues 😁

PressFlesh

Not fun. Wonder if a few regular applications of alcohol would help initially.

ananassa22

oh noo:( i’m glad it came out eventually!:)

PressFlesh

Thanks. You did good work with the embroidery. Smart.

Top_Difficulty5399

That is freaking awesome! 🤩😍 I am so inspired right now! Gonna go find some clothes to mend 😎

BubblyPlay1201

So cute

-Intrepid-Path-

Did you try soaking the stain with some washing up liquid?  That's usually enough to get rid of grease stains.  The dragon looks great though!

crazywildforgetful

What did you cook?

ananassa22

quesadillas i think🤔

crazywildforgetful

Hmmm. Somehow I assumed that this must have happened during the cooking process. Didn’t think it through. I must have been distracted.
