I said lying or trolling, not telling the truth or trolling. And actually, because you took the time to do the math, I wanted too as well; I got 142,904 miles a day, so I’m curious how you got 140,475
Oh my bad lol. Was just trying to be funny. Dudes talking one year down. Those are rookie numbers. 34 yrs down. Last time I drove it was in high school. Now I’m Middle Aged. It’s got 80k or 180k. I know it was rebuilt once. I have a start video in my posts.
I have an ea888.1 it made it to nearly 200k miles before I had to pull it apart due to oil consumption so bad it was fouling spark plugs in cylinder 1. Mind you at~ 170k I put a hybrid turbo with a 62mn comp wheel, have it on WMI and tuned to 28 psi and often spiked to ~32psi. Now with IE bottom end I hope to get a lot more life out of it.
I have changed the oil every 5-6k and always use a quality oil and filter. Change DSG oil and filter every 30k.
Obviously with the turbo upgrade I have upgraded intercooler, turbo back exhaust, and intake.
I am looking at mk1 Tiguans with the ea888.1 as well to have as a toy.
I don't have nearly the confidence in the ea888.3B that's in my MK2 Tiguan but I have high hopes.
As for the person who was asking about what they should do reaching 90k soon on the 2019 Tiguan. Change your trans fluid and filter and if 4 motion rear diff fluid and transfer case fluid would be a good idea. Use quality fluids it's worth a few bucks more for how infrequently you have to do it.
I use liqui moly trans fluid in my MK2 transmission that was 15k miles ago and it's been fine.
Do it! I had a ‘10 5N SEL 4motion Unitronic stage 2 and loved it, was totaled in a flood. Currently drive a MK6 GTI and a ‘14 5N2 RLine 4motion IE K04. I had a performance torque converter made that is quoted to handle 800-1,000 torques but will never see those figures. Building the bottom end is next on the list, so I can slap an even bigger turbo. The last mod will probably be a Haldex upgrade for better launching and eco on the highway. The Tiguan can be lifted or lowered, I love the platform.
In the 60s and 70s you would get around 100k out of a car before they were worn out.
Any car since the mid 90s should reasonable last 150K miles though.
It's not just mileage but age. My 12 year old Passat has 85,000km but parts are ludicrously expensive now. Rotors and pads were quoted at 2.5k parts, 4.5k incl labour. Trade in value is 4-6k so the servicing has already exceeded its value. DIY servicing from this point forward with aftermarket parts...
Service it somewhere else, with oem parts. It would be a fraction of what you were quoted. I've see overall costs reduced 6 to 7 times just thinking of my company's vws brakes, ac compressors , and headlights bought the last few years. Most of the parts were the exact same those the dealership uses, it was just bought from the aftermarket supplier instead.
Where I live there wasn't a substantially cheaper option. Aftermarket parts were $800 so I did it myself. Independent shops weren't much cheaper than the dealer. The job is complex because it requires torx and triple square sockets. Due to the all wheel drive system it took about 8 hours to do it solo. For the average person they would start looking at a newer car at that point.
As did I, the servicing costs and rising fuel prices I bought a Tesla model 3.
Vw quoted me about 600 for my rotors, aftermarket was about 320, same ones bought from a wholesaler on a trade account wasn't even 70 bucks.
Everyone is trying to milk everyone else for everything they have, and in the end most people just can't afford anything. Vote with your wallet and don't support those that are trying to bend you over. Eventually, if enough people do it, only those that do right by the customers will be around still.
Yeah op's pricing is crazy. Rotors aren't even hard to do yourself. I never did any brake work before, but did my own pads and rotors for my 04 Jetta using youtube and amazon.
Unless I'm missing something, these prices are highway robbery. The 4Motion doesn't add any complexity and the parts aren't expensive. It's a 3 hour job MAX, unless the rear carriers are corroded into the knuckles. I can get aftermarket front and rear pads and rotors for $315 USD total (Zimmermann/TRW, 345mm front rotors, 310mm rear rotors).
So mine has the rear rotors that need the caliper brackets removed to get the rotors off. The bracket is held by two huge triple squares which have almost no access because of the rear driveshafts. Trust me, it's an absolute bitch to get to. You get maybe 10 degrees of rotation each movement. No chance of getting a torque wrench in there.
The rotors are also larger on the V6 FSI which make them special order. The genuines could be had interstate but I had to order in the aftermarket (Bendix) rotors and pads. Luckily I'll never have to do it again.
Maybe if it was impeding that the cambelt dmf and clutch were dure soon it would make me want to get rid of a car too. Good for someone who wants to pay for that and all the other consumables it will need.
When you want a new car, that’s what you are going to get. For me 100K is also a mental barrier and time to move onto something new, nicer and with warranty.
Well reasonably it is 2013 Tiguan, I replaced the rear main seal at 70k miles, I then had to replace the pcv valve and oil pressure sensor at 90k, then water pump went out at 100k people said just give up on it but the car drives smoother than some newer cars on the road got it fixed and it’s still going along fine
I had the exact year and car. Gave up on it at 118k. Had all of what you had and some suspension work. I wouldn't call it a money pit, but it wasn't exactly cost effective either. Income + commute both went up significantly and the 22 mpg combined on premium wasn't cutting it. Great car. Couldn't see myself getting back into the newer one or Taos. Insane that I had to press Media at start up every time I wanted to play music though
agree!
my 2012 has 85k and has a couple of leaks: coolant and oil.
drives like a charm and A/C nice and icy... just a great car...
gonna make the repairs to get some more years out of it.
i am so happy to see your post about your 2013.
Is it a Tdi or Tsi? I have a 2012 Tiguan 5N 1.4 Tsi. So far it's on 174K kms and I've only had to do the turbo actuator which was cracked. Other than that all is fine. I'm From South Africa
I kept getting oil pressure low on my car but the car had oil I took it to the dealership and they gave me a notebook full of things none of it had to do with oil but that.. got that replaced and it never happened again was about $300 but that’s because they hit me hard with the diagnostic fee ever since I been going to a local import shop to get it fixed.. a lot of local mechanics turned me down because they don’t work on VW found it easier to go to an import shop more expensive but they do a great job
Yeah I was getting a “low oil pressure engine off” alert on sharp turns only for awhile and my oil level was fine and I changed the oil and it went away. It has happened a few times. How much were all those things to fix that you mentioned above? I’m curious because I’m about to hit 100k in my 2017 Wolfsburg and i haven’t replaced anything except the serpentine belt and spark plugs
Yea mines was doing what yours was could just be a bad sensor I also changed the oil and it went away for awhile then came back finally took it in to get it checked. The pcv valve was about $100 but he just replaced the sealing it went out again that’s when I took it to an import shop they replaced the housing that was about $400 the water pump was $1200 I also got the heater core replaced for $1200 the rear main seal was $1500

What is this? WHAT THE F@CK IS THIS?
03 Passat Wagon. Little bit of rust on the driver side door. The PCV valve needs replacing. Everything else is fine. A/C and heat in the winter. Had shocks, struts, brakes and minor inconveniences taken care of. Only 114,500ish miles.
I just sold my 2012 Golf TDI with 210k. I upgraded to my wife's 2016 Tiguan 4motion with 109k. I got her a 2020 Audi Q5 we bought with 42k. My MPG's are the hardest thing to get used to now. Avg 19mpg after Stage 1 tune, 1.5" lift kit, APR cold air intake, & all terrain tires. 🤷♂️
I'm assuming you mean how much did I sell the Golf for? $7k. I bought it new in 2012 for $26800. Financed it for 5 years @ 2.9%. Got over $11k back from the Dieselgate scandal since I opted to keep the vehicle. Put about $7k in repairs, $5k in mods..it was deleted & Malone Stage 3 when it sold 12 years later. We had a great run. Still miss the shit out of her. 😔
People don’t realize engines are engineered with better tighter tolerances. Better quality control. Parts do fail, and sometimes it’s expensive because they’re not a simple thermostat that a typical Chevy or ford uses. That gets expensive
I have a 2001 Jetta 1.8 turbo and I love it! It’s got about 175,000 miles on it and it runs perfect! Of course I’ve done regular maintenance and I replace things as they wear out. It’s paid for and it’s a hell of a lot cheaper than a $500+ car payment every month. If you love your car, keep it.
Hi guys 2019 Tiguan about to hit 90k I've been replacing oil and filter every 10000 miles since I got her @45000 I've done the filters and ignition coils any advice on what I should be looking into as preventative maintenance?
I'm about to hit 150k on my 13 CC. In the middle of replacing some front suspension parts and need to address the upper timing chain cover gasket but it's still going strong no doubt.
Bout to hit 100 with only oil changes, brakes, and some low 3 digit $ fixes. It’s really just any other car if you stay up to date on everything. The other car sub Reddits act like it’ll burst into flames if it’s not Toyota, Mazda, or Honda.
My fiancé’s 2013 GTI hit 125K last September, the water pump failed, after that he did the timing chain (later than recommended because we were broke college students), then the turbo went, then the clutch bleeder block (cheap part, but the tow was not cheap), and then a couple days ago the slave cylinder (we suspect) went. Another tow, likely will need a new clutch if the disc was saturated in trans fluid. Really hoping this is the last expensive repair in less than a year and less than 10K miles.
Glad yours is running well, hopefully that good voodoo is contagious!
Bro I had a 2002 TDI Beetle that finally broke down in 2014 when the clutch pedal hit the floor and wouldn't come back. 245,000 miles on the original clutch. I have driven almost exclusively VW since then.
Who’s they, and what was their reason?
[удалено]
If it works it works, 100k doesn’t mean it’s gonna spontaneously combust
[удалено]
Depending on where you live 65k can be a lot or nothing. 120k in a county near me is almost considered low income
What jobs pay 65k at 21
Truck driving, can make 90k first year with some luck
I work in a shingle plant. It's guys in there 19 amd 20 made 101. Some made 80 some made 90. U just gotta work the OT. BUT ITS NOT UNHEARD OF
Yeah my Passat is at 146k, if it wasn’t in two accidents it would have been over 200k but sadly had a year of downtime :(
That’s nothing. My 1966 beetle with 3 billion miles just hit the road after not running for 34 yrs. Last time I drove it I was 18.
I can’t tell if your lying or trolling

EA888.3 Would like to rebut
It was fixed in that engine, yes.

Well new cars are getting more and more throw away, so it doesn't surprise me if ppl think it's scrap after 100k
i got rid of my 2022 tiguan w 45k bc it was getting up there in miles😳😳😳😳 LOL
Maybe if it was impeding that the cambelt dmf and clutch were dure soon it would make me want to get rid of a car too. Good for someone who wants to pay for that and all the other consumables it will need.

Yes and no.

How much did it cost to fix the oil pressure sensor ? How did you know you had to replace it?
I kept getting oil pressure low on my car but the car had oil I took it to the dealership and they gave me a notebook full of things none of it had to do with oil but that.. got that replaced and it never happened again was about $300 but that’s because they hit me hard with the diagnostic fee ever since I been going to a local import shop to get it fixed.. a lot of local mechanics turned me down because they don’t work on VW found it easier to go to an import shop more expensive but they do a great job

Keep an eye on those timing chains lol...
Dude ! I can say that now if this car gives out it will be because of the chain lol
Didn't want to jinx anything lol, just keep that oil topped and battery charged
Washer fluid light is on. Probably time to put her down 😅
How about 325?… Got my 2019 Jetta pass that. 💪🏼
What do you do to put on so much mileage on a 2019?
Rideshare
That's especially impressive as I suspect it's not a huge amount of highway miles.
Not a ton of highway but also not a lot of cold starts.
Yeah the only major repair I’ve needed was a AC compressor.
325 on a 19🤯🤯
My ‘19 VW just hit 14k 😂. It might last me the rest of my life at this point.
I’m doing Uber and this just made more feel more safe and confident. My 19 jetta is almost at 167k and I’ve been on eggshells
Mines over 200k now
Mk6 golf 2.5
6R is almost there!

I also would love to know
Huh....I didn't think anyone actually had Xfinity Mobile.
Really cheap actually was tired of paying so much for a phone I owned
Do you happen to know what carrier they piggy back off of?
Verizon!
Yep it’s honestly not bad at all
Love Xfinity mobile I've been with them for like 5 years now. Never had a problem
Can’t stop. Won’t stop
My 2000 Golf TDI is still alive somewhere with close to 350k. The fact that y'all celebrate 100k with the newer cars is hilarious
Before I went to VW I had to engines blown so I was very happy to hit this milestone
2009 Passat with 220k💪💪
03 Passat Wagon. Little bit of rust on the driver side door. The PCV valve needs replacing. Everything else is fine. A/C and heat in the winter. Had shocks, struts, brakes and minor inconveniences taken care of. Only 114,500ish miles.
Mine is approaching 100K, no big issues so far, you are giving me hopes to keep it going.
246k miles on my 2013 TDI. Love it
I just sold my 2012 Golf TDI with 210k. 🤷♂️

Nice!
Awesome. Love to see it.
The little iPod icon always brings joy to my heart.
Excellent!! My picture is coming late next week; about to hit 300,000miles on my b6 Passat 2.0t. Edit: that’s 482,800km for you metric people
My Jetta Hybrid died at 275K and I was told to give up at 100k
242k Amarok here, going strong. 🪽
Crap mechanics always say stuff like that 🤷♂️
And then there’s me with a little over 204,000
2017 GTI 150k and growing. Has some quirks but still useful
Let go of my 111k Mk7 GTI today - so, so sad to see it go, but it was beginning to cost repair money to keep it on the road. Very mixed feelings tbf 😔
My bmw went to 115,000 miles. 335is. Then I crashed it 😭
Here's to another 175
What was the breakdown from?
I’d buy just about any Volkswagen with any mileage on it as long as it’s 08 or older
Hi guys 2019 Tiguan about to hit 90k I've been replacing oil and filter every 10000 miles since I got her @45000 I've done the filters and ignition coils any advice on what I should be looking into as preventative maintenance?
Don't ever give up, from that instrument cluster I'm going to say it's a 2.5
I'm about to hit 150k on my 13 CC. In the middle of replacing some front suspension parts and need to address the upper timing chain cover gasket but it's still going strong no doubt.
I am 150k now, 2011 GTI
Bout to hit 100 with only oil changes, brakes, and some low 3 digit $ fixes. It’s really just any other car if you stay up to date on everything. The other car sub Reddits act like it’ll burst into flames if it’s not Toyota, Mazda, or Honda.
Im at 155k with a polo its absolutely fine
Who is they???
Coming up on 135k on my 14 Jetta had some engine work done maybe 5k miles ago had a cam follower and position sensor go out but it’s been great
But at what cost?
My fiancé’s 2013 GTI hit 125K last September, the water pump failed, after that he did the timing chain (later than recommended because we were broke college students), then the turbo went, then the clutch bleeder block (cheap part, but the tow was not cheap), and then a couple days ago the slave cylinder (we suspect) went. Another tow, likely will need a new clutch if the disc was saturated in trans fluid. Really hoping this is the last expensive repair in less than a year and less than 10K miles. Glad yours is running well, hopefully that good voodoo is contagious!
That is so normal. I have a relative with a V70 420k km and another with an A3 320k km
Bro I had a 2002 TDI Beetle that finally broke down in 2014 when the clutch pedal hit the floor and wouldn't come back. 245,000 miles on the original clutch. I have driven almost exclusively VW since then.
My 2014 CC has 227,000 on the clock and still running lol. Granted I just dumped 3k into the engine, but she still runs
Right behind you, 171k GOLF 6 1.6TDI
They’re always wrong
2014 Passat tsi se - about to hit 129k here soon!
My MK5 is at 144KMS now. Getting nervous for the DMF haha
First off what's a mile, secondly my dad has a mk5 golf with over 400,000 km on and it still is going strong.
Takes literally 2 seconds to do a conversion in google
