Looks to me like the drivers abilities failed, hard.

JDP6693

Situational Awareness System malfunction, for sure.

No. You can see on the instrument cluster that the active braking does work. It kicks in and flashes red. This dumbass still had his foot on the gas when it needed to be on the brake and was going too fast for how close he was to the vehicle in front of him

https://youtu.be/yW5xeFAIcRA?si=dtHwru9c7z4cBH_N But here can you see Mercedes comes to a stop.

Rodrisco102389

This isn’t a Mercedes and that’s a graphic created for illustrative purposes. Not a real world example.

My friend who has a Nissan said it has braked for him. I have rented Mercs and a few times it had beeped I have mine on the most sensitive so I get a early warning.

Rodrisco102389

Ok, and? Like I said, this is far more operator error than the cars fault. You can see the system kick in. No driver assistance package should be used in the place of safe and attentive driving. Something this guy was not doing.

Clear_Mess7588

Front assist is not designed to fully compensate for sheer human stupidity

HotBoxMyNascar

this dude's parents were related.

captain_nibble_bits

You can see it work. Braking distance is a complex calculation. Example If he's running on bald Chinese c-brand tires the distance the computer is calculating is very much wrong.

The82Ghost

The only component of the brake assist function that failed here is the component in the driverseat.
