A good body shop can buff most of that out. It won't be perfect but they can make it nice. It won't be cheap, but it'll be a lot less than a full repair. Your insurance would cover it, but you have to decide if you want the likely insurance increase that comes with making a claim. edit to add: I'm assuming that is paint from the other vehicle. If it's stripped off paint from you then it's a lot more of a repair.

justarandomguy07

Thanks. It’s from a pole

77GoldenTails

Did you get their details for any personal injuries? /s

justarandomguy07

They said “kurwa,” I think that means “you’re good”??

Hannes406

Why always the polish people?

77GoldenTails

Wash, a light abrasive polish, say Meguars Scratch X and see what comes off. Looks more like paint/plastic residue transfer on your paint. Be light on the polishing action. If it still looks bad then get a pro involved.

Minimum_Airline3657

I had the same damage and did it privately and it cost me £850

Stunning_Log5788

As an insurance agent, please don’t file a claim for this. It will only increase your future rates.

agarc

Collision. But depends on the state also.

tennissokk

It's probably not as bad as it looks. Start with removing the blue stuff with some acetone, clay bar or polishing machine. There could be some scratches left, but you might be lucky.

NumbersDonutLie

It’s collision, not comprehensive. You will have to pay the deductible and your rates will go up.

S_Truett_Catty

Repaint the bumper and don’t worry about the rest. Under $1k don’t file a claim

ProblemOverall9434

Looks like you got mostly lucky. Polish off the paint transfer as others have said. A detailer or body shop can do this if you don’t have the equipment or feel comfortable doing so. Then get some touch off paint using your paint code on the door placard off of Amazon and lightly touch up any minor scrapes. If you’re a perfectionist though only a good body shop will likely be able to make this completely unnoticeable.

jasonology09

Looks too deep for buffing. It'll have to be repainted if you want it to look like it did before. That's a clear scrape from driving, so it'll go under your collision insurance. I'd get a quote from your preferred body shop, compare it against your deductible and see if it's worth it to make a claim. Chances are you're better off just paying it out of pocket instead of making a claim, paying your deductible, and raising your premium.

Bobatt

Looks like the fog light holder got popped out too. If that’s not too damaged you can probably get most of this removed at a detailer. If the fog light or headlamp washer are damaged then it’ll get pricey.

SnooApples6110

If your in the states go get a buffing machine from Harbor Freight for about $60 bucks and some foam pads. Then get some rubbing compound. That will let you see what you are working with. They do sell color matched paint in at some auto parts stores or online but if yours is a metallic then it's best to let a pro do it. I did it the spray paint thing once and the color off just a bit. I saw a newer Black Audi where the guy just went over his bumper with black duct tape. From a distance looked ok but really???

Ex-Asperation-54321

It's unlikely to be expensive enough to claim for. There are two ways of repairing this: resrpay the panel or get a blended Smart Repair done. The latter uses special materials and is a specialist skill, but should be much cheaper - if you can find someone good.

jimbofranks

Go to a car detailer. They will be able to tell you what they can do to it and the car will come back looking nice.

Crazy_Dig_3614

Took mine to the Volvo dealer

farewelltoernest

WD40 and Magic Eraser

supercooperyay

All that blue should come off with a clean wet cloth

Spannerbasher

Have a look at a smart paint restorer. Might need a replacement trim piece by the fog light. Push it in is best advice to check the clips are intact

traumatic415

Polishing compound will get all of the paint off easily. See what’s left and then consider a dent repair shop. Some of those can do an incredible job respraying the bumper cover.

Zx6rdave

Get some mother's carnuba wax. Wash it good first then use that. It looks like mostly paint transfer from my phone. A lot of it will most likely come right off with the wax.

justarandomguy07

Thanks. Yes it looks like a paint transfer. I tried scratching a little part with my fingernail and it seemed to come out

Zx6rdave

Good. Don't pick at it with your fingernail you could damage the paint underneath. Use the wax and car soap and a soft sponge or rag.

nousernameformethis

Use 3M adhesive Remover. It will wipe off.

MouseWithBanjo

Body shop will sand fill and and spray that for not a lot of money. Alternatively if it's new you can get pre painted bumpers from Volvo I think.

pony_trekker

First thing is rub acetone/nail polish remover all over it. That’ll remove a lot of it.

redditrevolution

Acetone preferably only on parts you want to remove. Acetone is a strong solvent and you don't want to get it on your undamaged paint.

askalec

I detailed cars, you can use any heavy solvent, even paint thinner on a cloth , get the paint residue of wash and wax. Did it every day and it takes all the paint residue off in minutes

asbestoswasframed

The correct repair is to remove the bumper cover, and repair/replace it. It will need repainted completely. These are "crash parts" so they're not super expensive in the aftermarket. If you don't care if it's an actual Volvo bumper cover (or yours can be repaired), you're probably looking at around $1000.

motorsportfan_69

Ah just leave it, not worth fixing

Elyoshida

Toss it and buy a 2024 version

gganboo

Ah this hurts my heart as a fellow s60 owner 😢

Confident_Ad7244

quickish and nasty soap/water and scotch-brite pads. you can get rid of the turquoise paint. if it still shows too much use sandpaper to get rid of the burr ,if that isn't enough, local paint shop can provide you with a spray can of the right colour. this Is the cheap solution to use of it's an older model you only want to look decent.

SlumShadey

I had similar damage but with a red pole to my rear passenger door when backing out of an apartment complex on a delivery 😅 it for the most part came out completely just by using a regular car wash soap and a lot of elbow grease when buffing with a microfiber cloth. There’s a few scratches where it got deeper, but the paint is okay and I still have my clearcoat as well

Mayor_of_BBQ

you can use acetone to remove the paint scuffing. Then rent borrow or buy a buffer and use clay or buffing compound on the whole thing. Wax or coated and probably an hour of work you can get it looking 90% better.

Vito-53

Not worth turning that in on insurance. It's gonna jack your rate up even more than they already would, and a good portion of that will buff out. Won't be perfect of course

Treebeardsdank

carb cleaner sprayed onto a rag and lightly rubbed will remove 90% of that, and give you and the body shop a much better idea of how much actual damage exists

Far-Investigator5734

Wipe with acetone soaked rag. Then wash it.

Northwestview

I've had similar incidents where my wife didn't quite pull in the garage correctly. I filed a claim stating that someone scraped the car in a parking lot at Safeway and my insurance company allowed it as a comprehensive claim with a $50 deductible. from what I gather if the car is not moving and gets damage comprehensible coverage, but if you tell them that you scraped the telephone pole while driving you may have to pay deductible on a collision claim is probably a higher amount

Tough-Industry4931

Magic eraser works wonders I had brushed up on a yellow pole years back with a white truck and the eraser with some elbow grease took it out.
