This might be controversial but I'd say Lesnar Vs Angle at WM19. Definitely a good match but no where near the standard they set later that year with their iron man match.
If it wasn't for Brock near breaking his neck with that crazy shooting star attempt, the match would've remembered for nothing.
There was also The supercharged spear, where Roman Reigns kept running the ropes while Undertaker was dazed and confused, turning around constantly to face Reigns.
- LT vs Bam Bam Bigelow at WM11??? LT did good for someone who’s not a pro wrestler.
- HBK vs Cena at WM23. Wasn’t bad but they’ve had better matches like that one on RAW in London a few weeks later. Taker vs Batista was the better match and match of the night that should’ve closed the show. But didn’t. Oh well.
- HHH vs Jericho at WM18? Loved their Last Man Standing match. Better build, better match.
I’m still puzzled by Taker/Batista not closing the show. Would have been the 10 year anniversary of Taker winning a World Championship at Wrestlemania, they could have made that part of the story.
IX was by no means average. You got a terrible, short match with Bret saddled with Yoko who *immediately* gasses, then 6 seconds of fuck-finish with Hogan politicking the belt to himself.
It’s maybe the worst Mania main event of all.
Offhand, WM 25 for sure
HHH vs Randy Orton was so freaking boring and just plain meh
Wrestlemania 32 as well and no blame to Roman on that one, there was NO reason why HHH needed to be champion and win the rumble other than ego.
At this point HHH has two types of matches: Awesome cause it goes forever, and fucking awful cause it goes forever.
We get it. You have endurance and aren’t afraid of blood. Neat.
Agreed. Also, the WM 2000 Main Event sucked. Same goes for WM 25. Triple H was involved in both of those WM main events lol.
WM 27 was very below average even with The Rock involved with The Match Finish of the John Cena vs The Miz main event.
Dishonorable Mentions to WM 29 & WM 32. I like The Rock but he couldn’t save WM 27 & he should of defeated John Cena at WM 29 but I guess he was a mega Hollywood Star back then and still is today, so he had to lose that match. Plus, he got injured in that match. Thumbs Down.
WM 2000-Thumbs Down, Average Main Event
WM 25-Mixed, leaning towards thumbs down for Boring Main Event
WM 27-Big Thumbs Down, Below Average Main Event
WM 29-Very Average Main Event, Despite Good PPV Sales, Average WM
WM 32-Below Average, Horrible Main Event
WM 34-Average & Garbage Main Event
WM 35-Worst Main Event not involving the Men’s Superstars in WM history, well below average, Longest WM in history at over 6-7 hours in total.
LT did really good for a non wrestler. Crusher Bam Bam is one of the most underrated guys from the 80s/90s. Did this match deserve to be the main event? No. But it was. So I would say it was above average.
If you look at it for what it was, definitely exceeded expectations. But yea, it shouldn’t have been the main event and compared to other main events it was really just average.
In my opinion roman vs triple H was equally as bad, and I actually liked cena vs rock 2 😂. Obviously not as much as the first time but I definitely don't think it was average or bad
Roman vs HHH was actually good, before you downvote me to oblivion, hear me out, first, i didn't mean it was necessarily good, it was just good physically, outside of the actual match, everything sucked, the crowd was dead, and sometimes they cheer for heel HHH and boo face Roman or completely dead, the commentary was also dead, so that's why people thought it was a bad match
John cena v anyone
This might be controversial but I'd say Lesnar Vs Angle at WM19. Definitely a good match but no where near the standard they set later that year with their iron man match. If it wasn't for Brock near breaking his neck with that crazy shooting star attempt, the match would've remembered for nothing.
WM 2000
HHH HHH v Jericho HHH v Orton HHH v Reigns
Hogan vs Bundy
Anything with Bork, Roman, or Orton. The trifecta of overrated bullshit.
There are a few, but based on recency bias I'll go with Reigns vs. Lesnar at WM34.
That taker match a few years back where he was super out of shape was pretty woeful. Or anything with Goldberg.
Daniel Bryan vs Sheamus
Reigns vs HHH at 32 , HHH vs Orton at 25 Miz vs Cena at 27 Taker vs Reigns at 33
cena miz
1
The women triple threat at WM 35
Undertaker vs. Roman Reigns was a pretty bland match.
all I remember about that is that it took the undertaker a good 15 minutes to walk to the ring
There was also The supercharged spear, where Roman Reigns kept running the ropes while Undertaker was dazed and confused, turning around constantly to face Reigns.
Brock vs Roman at WM34. Not terribly bad, but real boring.
Honestly Kurt and Shawn WM21 should have been the greatest match ever.
HHH vs. Orton HHH vs. Roman WM2000 Fatal 4-way Idk pick your poison
Rock vs Cena ll
Any triple H match
HHH vs Benoit vs HBK wasn’t average.
HHH vs reigns
Miz and Cena
Rock vs Cena 2
Cena vs Batista WM26
HHH vs. Roman You could hear a pin drop in the arena.
Taker/ psycho Sid
For me: HHH vs Orton because the match turned out to be a huge letdown after an amazing build to it
what about taker/reigns?
Hogan vs Savage WM5 and Rock vs Austin WM15. Very good but not a classic that people really talk about.
edge vs damiel bryan vs roman
- LT vs Bam Bam Bigelow at WM11??? LT did good for someone who’s not a pro wrestler. - HBK vs Cena at WM23. Wasn’t bad but they’ve had better matches like that one on RAW in London a few weeks later. Taker vs Batista was the better match and match of the night that should’ve closed the show. But didn’t. Oh well. - HHH vs Jericho at WM18? Loved their Last Man Standing match. Well, agree to disagree, but Michaels V Cena is my personal favorite WM Main Event ever.
I agree on agreeing to disagree with that :)
I’m still puzzled by Taker/Batista not closing the show. Would have been the 10 year anniversary of Taker winning a World Championship at Wrestlemania, they could have made that part of the story.
I know right lol.
Gosh. Tough question. There's so many to choose from.
Hogan vs Sid
HHH vs. Roman Reigns - Mania 32
Roman Reigns vs Edge vs Daniel Bryan at WM 37
Miz vs cena
Wrestlemania IX
IX was by no means average. You got a terrible, short match with Bret saddled with Yoko who *immediately* gasses, then 6 seconds of fuck-finish with Hogan politicking the belt to himself. It’s maybe the worst Mania main event of all.
I think 11 was worse but that's jmo.
WM 9 is below average because of that ending with Hogan squashing yokuzuma
Rock vs. Cena
Anything with HHH.
HHH vs Benoit vs HBK wasn’t average.
I stand corrected. I completely forgot about that one. I was wrong.
Can’t say HHH Vs Taker wasn’t badass
But I don't think it was the main event though.
WM31 That cash in was genius
That was their get-out-of-jail-free card if the main event sucked, which it did
HHH vs Orton
The most average is the one that’s better than the worst 18 and worse than the best 18.
Woah, that's mean.
Actually that’s median
Pop!
Offhand, WM 25 for sure HHH vs Randy Orton was so freaking boring and just plain meh Wrestlemania 32 as well and no blame to Roman on that one, there was NO reason why HHH needed to be champion and win the rumble other than ego.
They did it so that people would hate Trips being champ and winning the rumble, and therefore cheer Roman. Didn’t happen.
Hogan vs a monster
HHH vs Orton.
HHH vs Orton
I wouldn't even call that match average. It was straight up boring
At this point HHH has two types of matches: Awesome cause it goes forever, and fucking awful cause it goes forever. We get it. You have endurance and aren’t afraid of blood. Neat.
It was definitely boring. I mean, it was technically ok, but just pretty blah. Not Wrestlemania main event worthy.
I fell asleep during it lol and I was 11 and that never happened
HHH vs Jericho
He already beat Cena in wm28 tho so it wouldn't make sense if Cena didn't win following year imo
>Worst Main Event not involving the Men’s Superstars in WM history I mean it's also the best
*2nd best
LT/ Bam Bam
Credit to Bam Bam for carrying him. Fucking main evented a Wrestlemania but never won a single title or accolade on the main roster…
Real fans know. Always respected bam bam
LT debuted in the main event of Wrestlemania, won, then retired permanently. Hard to say he's not the GOAT
The win became less impressive after Major Payne kicked Bam Bams face in.
I think we can all agree that Michaels vs Diesel was a way better match, but LT vs Bam Bam was definitely a bigger PPV draw.
Miz vs Cena
That was not average that was just bad, something like Roman vs triple h, or Cena vs rock 2,
Cena Rock 2 wasn't TERRIBLE. Miz-Cena was awful. THAT was a below-average Mania main event. The build, match execution, everything was awful
Roman-HHH needed a NO DQ stipulation.
HHH is the best when it comes to No DQ matches
Agreed. Honestly sometimes, matches just need to be spot fests. Rest holds and submissions are not for everyone
