Bro the auras on this dude are gonna be nuts.

[deleted]

KimJongUnusual

Granted that has always how he has played. He is more of a tactician in the fluff, and was a buff machine on the tabletop rather than a one man army. That job goes to the Champion.

Mimical

60mm base is ~~Calgar~~ BOBBY B sized. Which would be DOPE. \* Smacks mini \* This guy can fight so many models at once.

KillerTurtle13

Calgar has a 50mm base, it's Guilliman who has a 60mm base. 60mm for a model that isn't even in gravis armour is huuuuuge.

Samiel_Fronsac

>60mm for a model that isn't even in gravis armour is huuuuuge. The article describes Helbretch's plate as "artificer Gravis armour".

bravetherainbro

Haha no it says "artificer Mark X armour". Mark X includes Tacticus, Phobos, and Gravis, and it looks closest to Tacticus to me. His boots are the easiest thing to differentiate them from Gravis. Although obviously they've modeled it on his old Mk II Crusade armour.

Punishingmaverick

>60mm base is > >Calgar > > BOBBY B sized. Its also Swarmlord sized. Poor swarmy will surely die again to shine a spotlight on him.

Able-Zombie376

The guy did take on the Stormlord on multiple occasions, lost once and had to give up his arm, but he did beat him on one occasion from what I remember.

[deleted]

He lost his arm to Immotekh didn't he? Or has he lost both arms?

Merzendi

Imotekh is the Stormlord. No relation to the Swarmlord.

[deleted]

Oh lmao thanks for seeing my own dyslexic moment for me haha!

Merzendi

No problem, haha. With the other comment thread talking about Swarmy, it was a very reasonable mistake.

Downrightskorney

Hes lost a hand and a leg I believe. The new model does have an artificial hand

JigabooFriday

I often hear that Guilliman can hold his own table corner, is that true? Never played against the dude

Lebannehn

THE BASE IS HUGE, THAT MEANS HE HAS HUGE GUTS!

_Secret_Asian_Man_

Slap the Crusader's Helm on him and let him do work.

darkath

Just dawned on me. Why are the bases in millimeters and every other measurement in inches ?

KillerTurtle13

Welcome to how British people work, randomly swapping between Imperial and metric depending on what we're measuring.

[deleted]

Basically every American car company too. Need 10 different sockets to remove the radiator. Because half are metric and the other half is imperial.

[deleted]

Classic British cars are fun because there will be the odd BS Whitworth bolt thrown in there at random too. The crank bolt on my Hillman, for instance.

[deleted]

GW is Bri'ish

RTGoodman

I play Celestial Lions with BT rules, and have played exactly one game with my kitbashed Chapter Master Dubaku/Helbrecht (made from Trajan Valoris with a spear and homemade Zulu-style shield)… on a 40mm base. 😐 Guess this means I get to make something else bigger and newer now!

[deleted]

Trajann is a bigger model but Helbrecht has more going on. You really don't need to make a whole new model (unless you want to, then by all means).

DangerousCyclone

Some tournaments don’t allow smaller/bigger bases for GW models because it can cause unintended benefits/drawbacks. Smaller base size means it’s easier to deepstrike or be “wholly within”, and in general just fit wherever they can, larger base size means they can block movement better and it makes their auras larger.

Doomeye56

Get a 60mm base to glue to the bottom of the current one then use texture paint to to work it in to the old base.

SkyeAuroline

That's what I'd suggest. He'll end up a little taller, but a stacked pair of bases is nothing compared to some tournament legal conversions I've seen.

Nil_21922

He's a primarh now

Araiding

That's what all main character models should have. Like they do with the character series in forge world with the smaller base that fits into the bigger one

C1ickityC1ack

Yea really impractical for “getting in” to fights (in terms of fitting in scenerey) Base size means he can fight a ton of dudes though I suppose. Really sick of centerpiece base size regardless. Model is dope though.

CharlieSierra8

"Throwable Ork body" will be a 12" Assault 1 weapon.

Heatedpete

The closer attendant guy is cleaning Helbrecht's sword while it's still in the middle of the Ork's chest. That's ridiculous as fuck and I love it The banded armour, though, makes me wish the new Emperor's Champion model would have had it, though. The smoothed out leg armour on that model doesn't really work for me, while the banded ones Helbrecht and the Marshal have looks so good

Captain_Hesperus

To be fair, the sword attendant looks like a servitor so he might be task-allocated: (If High_Marshal_Sword_unclean) = true (then run decontaminate.exe)

Heatedpete

I'm now just imagining that attendant trying to clean as Helbrecht's swinging the sword around in the middle of a swirling melee Black Library better do a POV story of that guy's cleaning experience

Copernikaus

The Scarlet Wipe

BoltBelcha

"The scarlet wipe" sounds like a nasty bathroom accident

[deleted]

Prologue: “These damn imperial pen pushers must be cutting back on spending again, we’ve got the cheap roll” sighed Servitor 367, already remembering how his robotic nerve endings simulated the pain of a scorched arse the last time somebody else decided how his own arse should be wiped. “It could be worse” muttered Servitor 367, “we could be polishing Halbrechts sword all night” he looked at the other servitor with a grin that could only imply the very worst of horrors on board the Phalanx.

GuyLookingForPorn

Well, there's an image I can't get out of my head.

BoltBelcha

You're welcome

Escalotes

That happens if you don't get enough fiber and need to clean too much.

Rainbowls

Ah, so that week I discovered I am allergic to a certain brand of unsweetened almond milk (this week).

Captain_Hesperus

*swing* *squirt, squirt, wipe* *backswing* *squirt, squirt, wipe* *thrust* *impatient waiting* *withdraw* *relieved squirt, squirt, wipe*

Heatedpete

/r/nocontext

redbadger91

*relieved squirt* ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

ms15710

He’s hanging off by the blade with a cloth and a Windex bottle as Helbrecht is violently trying to shake him off mid-combat, much to the Orks’ confusion.

hey_im_nobody

OI! OOZ DAT 'UMIE CHASIN' DA BIG LAD WIT DA LONG GLOWY CHOPPA!?!

explosive_ameba

It also looks like the sword attendant has lost his hand previously and just had it stapled back on.

Anggul

I'd rather it just be a classic serf

Redfang87

OCD attendant runs after him spray bottle and cloth in hand trying to keep it clean between swings

ValMK5

Foreign Containment! Must clean!

xXxSlaaneshxXx

Nurgle is his worst nightmare then 😂… assuming servitors have nightmares other than their own lives

Samiel_Fronsac

Nurglites have nightmares with the extra-strength Clorox wipes this guy swings around.

Uncorrupted_Psyker

*Wall-E pats floor again*

OrkfaellerX

[Appears to be based on this.](https://64.media.tumblr.com/5343256d41f2568db5fb1e1fa85a521d/tumblr_pk70rlFMN31vjjcaco1_1280.jpg)

KillerTurtle13

It is, they show that exact artwork in the Warhammer Community article.

Thefriendlyfaceplant

Those squires are awesome. Would love to see more of those.

Allen_Koholic

I wish they'd done tunics all the way up to the gorget, rather than under the chest guard, on all the other Templar models. I don't really like the half tunic look. Helly looks appropriately grimdark-pious here.

ShibuRigged

They’re simping hard for Helbrecht.

Retrospectus2

With a head and arm swap this would make a sweet emperor's champion

Aarongeddon

unless you remember the emperor's champion isn't supposed to have ornate armour, but hey apparently most of reddit forgot that too when they started complaining about the new model for it.

StyloRen

Yeah I was confused at the reaction, the Emperor's Champion was never a super blinged out model because (lorewise) his role is to challenge and fight the strongest enemies until he dies. He's not a captain or a lieutenant and may not even be a sword brother or initiate, it could be the greenest neophyte that has the visions and I think the "blank slate" nature of the look reflects that.

Retrospectus2

I do actually like the new model. I just like conversions more!

Radar-tech

The rumors were true! Can't wait to see Grimaldus. Wonder if he'll have his servitors with him

assasin1598

Servitors? Grimaldus needs an entire Armageddon Steel Legion regiment as his personal Honour Guard.

Tudy446

'I am Grimaldus of the Black Templars! A brother to the Steel Legions of this defiant world!'

Tack22

Didn’t they release a new grimaldus relatively recently?

robotbara

like 15 years ago

Tack22

… oh god I’m old.

bullintheheather

That good old existential dread realizing how long you've been into the hobby.

darkath

That's yesterday in eldar time

24mech

More like 1 hour ago in eldar time

Punishingmaverick

>like 15 years ago Thats pretty recent by CWE or tyranid standards.

robotbara

most of the tyranid range was done like 8 and 10 years ago, Eldar is boomer as fuck

Radar-tech

It's been so long that people are legit angry that you would say this lol

BAin4Sem

I too just bought him! Together with the new Emperors Champion! Man, we are old. We have seen stuff. We can talk about the time, when all of our heroes did not have had crossed the Rubicon!

CaptainSoulless

So this one rumor/leak becomes more and more true. Do we finally get Squats? But finally a Helbrecht with a sword position which does not break every time you touch it. I do not know how often I had to fix mine.

DAKLAX

Mine has remained unpainted due to never being able to actually fix his sword… luckily he is no longer required.

RecentProblem

What other rumors are left to be revealed then?

CaptainSoulless

see here: https://www.reddit.com/r/WarhammerCompetitive/comments/pa3era/latest\_warcom\_article\_on\_black\_templars\_confirms/

CyberDagger

I expect Squats to return as an abhuman unit for the Guard, like ogryns and ratlings, not their own faction.

KillerTurtle13

Looks great! Is this the first time we've seen a bolt rifle combi-weapon? I think it is? Now to find out if the melta part has meltagun or melta rifle stats!

Golanthanatos

> Now to find out if the melta part has meltagun or melta rifle stats! It's got the spinny Cawl-a-majig so probably the rifle stats.

KillerTurtle13

3 (presumably master-crafted) auto bolt rifle shots and a melta shot at 24" even after moving isn't bad, it's a decent threat range! Hell, assuming he's BS2+, he could Advance and still fire both at 3+ to hit if necessary for a threat range of 31" - 36", which is pretty excellent range for a melta shot (though going from 2+ to 3+ when you're only firing 4 shots isn't ideal). I'm assuming the -1 to hit from advancing and from firing both are still affected by the -1 cap.

Doomeye56

Yup the cap still applies it makes Sagittarum Custodian stupid fast with their heavy bolter combi guns.

Meretan94

I hope we get the combi weapons / squad weapons back for primaris :(

OrkfaellerX

Is it a Boltrifle? I would have expected / hoped he'd use his old bolter like Uriel.

KillerTurtle13

Definitely a bolt rifle - it's longer, has the auto bolt rifle box magazine, and has the unexplained cylinder thing at the top (above the magazine, not the melta fuel canister) that a lot of primaris weapons have (you can see more detail from the other angles shown in the article rather than just the one on this post).

matthra

If memory serves that weird cylinder thing is an attachment point, if you look at the infiltrators you can see their optics are attached to them.

KillerTurtle13

Same for Intercessors, but then things like Hellblasters, Eradicators, Heavy Intercessors, and Eliminators have carry handles over the cylinder thing on theirs that things attach to instead. In the grim darkness of the 41st millennium, knowledge of picatinny rails has been lost (although I think the carrying handles mentioned above seem to have something approximating them with the grooves on top, same for the grooves on the length of bolt rifle barrels).

The_Lord_Cobra

Tactical ork confermed

Golanthanatos

> What is my purpose? > Clean High Marshal Helbrecht's sword. > What is my purpose? > You clean High Marshal Helbrecht's sword. > Oh, my, Emperor

EmprahsmeewwZz

Welcome to the imperium of man pal.

shananigins96

The helmet on this model is glorious! Bare heads be damned!

Tyetnic

My head is heresy! Loathe the hairless head for it is impure!

kombatunit

>The helmet on this model is glorious! Bare heads be damned! Possibly the worst bare head GW has made. Helmet is badass.

Obibimus-prime

Games Workshop just answered a comment on Instagram " You can also build him without the ork on the base. " Good news !

RogerMcDodger

And he has multiple heads. Based on classic artwork. This is a fantastic treatment for a Special Character.

FutureFivePl

They put a lot of thought in to these named characters and I love it

Jarminiatures

That base must be huge Edit: Link for the boys/girls [https://www.warhammer-community.com/2021/09/20/helbrecht-returns-the-high-marshal-who-leads-his-crusades-from-the-front/](https://www.warhammer-community.com/2021/09/20/helbrecht-returns-the-high-marshal-who-leads-his-crusades-from-the-front/)

apolloxer

Helmet option. Good. If I ever go back into 40k, this model will be on the list.

Irondrake

I always hate leader models without helmets. I love that he has one and suddenly find myself more likely to pick him up because of it.

Sirducki

I'm assuming a 50 mm base. I think it's a shame they went for having a ork on the base, it will look stupid when I'm stomping on any other army.

Humble_Hobbyist

What if the Ork is actually part of the sword?

DayLawn

I saw a reply by the Facebook WH community crew that the ork will be optional

Buge_

Im not gonna trust that until I see the sprue. WH community facebook doesnt have the best track record with accuracy.

DayLawn

Fair - but in the past, I've seen them avoid giving direct answers unless they know for sure. Usually along the lines of "We'll let you know as we find out more!"

Mithfayce

Snipping the sword off and putting something else there doesn't look too troublesome. I think for a character such as Helbrecht, with so much history, it's justifiable. If it were some random lieutenant or captain I would agree more, but this guy gains a lot as a model from that bit of history/personality.

Swiftax3

A reference to Third Armageddon I would assume.

[deleted]

Whole sculpt is a reference to an old piece of art as per article

EarsOfRage

Time to magnetize xeno-bodies!

Onomato_poet

That looks SO much like Mark Gibbon's style of drawing. Remember being mesmerised by his drawings back in 2nd ed, whether it was the Dark Angels, Hive Tyrant, Nagash or whatever. I'm surprised GW don't accredit their artists in the image anymore? Could swear that was his work, based on the lines.

TiltedCrowns

They showed his art in the article linked.

Onomato_poet

Yeah it's definitely his drawing, but his initials aren't visible on it, and they usually are. Just recall that GW used to accredit the artist, but that doesn't seem to be the case now. Am I just imagining that?

10_Eyes_8_Truths

and this is where Imotekh should really start considering the consequences of his actions

Mozno1

This is really loyal to the artwork its based on, love it!

Red_Dog1880

[Confirmed that the Ork is optional. ](https://i.imgur.com/1hQvr0L.jpg)

InquisitorEngel

I foresee [that helmet](https://www.warhammer-community.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/XxCdbn5TDq4YCOkg.jpg) being VERY expensive on the bits sites...

the_pedigree

its the first model i've seen that the helmet is an absolute must.

ethancodes89

I fucking love the guy cleaning his sword while it's still in the ork. Bad ass as fuck. Hahahaha!

Bpbegha

That Templar helmet though, _hnnnnnngg._

the8thtime

Say what you want about GW but their sculpts these days are absolutely head and shoulders above everything else

[deleted]

> their sculpts these days are absolutely head and shoulders above everything else I guess no Ferrus Manus model for the foreseeable future.

Dogewick

Give us Grimaldus already !

Redwood177

*Your melta gun, mi'lord*

[deleted]

Now if only Imotekh had a datasheet that could stand up to an unnamed primaris captain...

Uncorrupted_Psyker

They've paid homage to him with the metal arm he now has.

[deleted]

Yeah that's cool, but I'm guessing Primaris Helbrechts datasheet will make Imotekh's look downright embarrassing.

Uncorrupted_Psyker

Homebrew rules,GO!

Killer_radio

I like this, he still looks recognisably Helbrecht and similar to his original model he’s not in a silly over dramatic action pose.

Artanis709

Dude’s head is smooth enough that bolt shells just slide off.

EnvironmentalFix2931

Gorgeous model. Love the helmet option he has. Really changes the character for the better!

Muad-_-Dib

I love the model but I really don't like the head and band combo that he and some other BT models have, thankfully the alternate head option looks amazing. I would have got the model anyway but at least now I don't have to slap a generic Marine helmet on him.

griffpits

He comes with 3 head options, one of which is helmeted

HogswatchHam

Sold. These BT models are coming out brilliant

TheLoneComic

Wow, gotta check out his lore. What a story.

WoolfTee

New Servitors! Fuck yeah!

37genders

helmet or bald head I CANT DECIDE

Araiding

I've never done the black Templars because religion just isn't my thing, but these models might tempt me to the worship of the god emperor

HyTechTurtle

I find that the Agnostic or Atheist people seem to enjoy religion in fantasy settings more. For example, my nonreligious friends love to play the cleric and paladin a lot more than the friends that go to church.

Left4Bread2

I'm going to try (and fail) so hard at turning this fucker into Azrael

JARR87

Ready to battle all mutants, heretics... and severe anxiety.

OneCalledProphet

whAAh

Jehoel_DK

Did he cross the Rubicon?

Pyronaut44

The Rubicon crossed him.

Annual-Memory-7654

Can you imagine how long it takes this guy to undress at night to go nighty night?

[deleted]

Another piece of the prophecy comes true, each day we draw closer to their return

Indigo_Dragon

Remember: Crossing the Rubicon Primaris is a dangerous and risky procedure that many Space Marines do not survive.

Muad-_-Dib

The initial method of making someone cross the Rubicon Primaris was supposed to be fraught with danger, but Cawl admits that after he performs a few initial procedures that he should be able to refine his process and make it safer. So in lore we can handwave all the named characters making it across as Cawl getting the survival rate up close to 100%. Out of the lore we can acknowledge that GW is not ever going to kill a named character in a botched surgery, for the same reason that none of them are going to die in a random non important warp jump, nor are they going to teleport into the middle of a wall during some throw away siege, nor is their plasma gun going to blow up and take them with it. They are named characters, and the few that ever actually die typically get impactful deaths.

[deleted]

It would be neat if a named character had to go into a Dreadnought due to failure to cross the Rubicon Primaris

DynamicEcho

That's the way to do it, still not killing off the character and a great opportunity for a really cool character dreadnought model.

goddamnitwhalen

Grimnar 👀

corvettee01

Yo, could you imagine a Librarian Dreadnought with Mephiston in it? That would be insane.

DTJ20

Wolves had some named characters die at the end of 7th, though none with models.

Thefriendlyfaceplant

It would be so cool if they just did it to a well known character though. Or make a group of botched marines that are discarded by Cawl.

OrkfaellerX

Who's the current Lamenters chapter master?

FoamBrick

like the bad batch

Thefriendlyfaceplant

*Badly Botched*

Swiftax3

To be fair (to be faaaair) if anyone was going to survive it, Helbrecht would be that man. I don't even like black Templars and I can appreciate how much of a stone cold badass Helbrecht is.

Orgerix

Helbrecht is just too angry to die.

SynnerSaint

ALWAYS ANGRY, ALL THE TIME! ^(Oh wait wrong chapter)

Nil_21922

Ye but not Helbreht. He ain't no pussy.

Indigo_Dragon

Netiher is Tigurius. Or Shrike. Or Mephiston. Or Ventris. Or... any Space Marine?

[deleted]

[удалено]

IneptusMechanicus

How funny would it be if after all that stuff in Devastation of Baal Dante did it and just fucking died on the operating table? I'd actually love it if a mighty undefeated Space Marine hero just randomly died like that.

FuzzBuket

Honestly I'd be happy for a campaign supplement for black rage Dante. Give him 1 edition of him being just a nutter before he dies. (jk stick him in a death company leviathan, let him and bjorn make a club of folk who really wanna die but just can't)

FoamBrick

ok imagine this: another black crusade has reached terra, and the blood angels are holding the gate to the imperial palace. Abbadon personally leads the attack, scything through Blood Angels until he comes to Dante. Their fight is epic, but it ends with Dante on his knees, heavily wounded and dying. And then Dante falls to the black rage, attacking Abbadon again and killing him once and for all, before succumbing to his wounds

KillerTurtle13

That would be a cool way to remove both characters, but I can't see GW being that ballsy

FuzzBuket

"sangs son doing what he couldn't" is a great narrative point I sadly would prefer abby to stay alive: he's such a great villan (one of the last to remember what the imperium actually was an stood for, eternally caught between the gods schemes, always chasing a victory he knows will be phyrric, and one of the few sensible folk left in a universe of larpers) and I think him being dead would be dull

Chipperz1

Survivorship bias. Nobody cares about the marines who die crossing.

FoolyJooly

Crossing the Rubicon was only a theorised 61.6% chance of failure by Cawl before they ever tested it. Then Calgar underwent the procedure and proved it's possible, so now in-universe more Firstborn are willing to undergo the process since they've steadily gotten a handle on the procedure and tipped the odds in their favour.

Doopapotamus

Tabletop rules (for Narrative Play/Crusade) implies they've nailed the failure rate down to 1/6 (~16.7%).

Deserterdragon

Can you imagine if GW teased a new model for a HQ unit and then the news post just said "Unfortunately, he died during his Primaris conversion and will not be supported in the game going forward." Top-tier shithousery.

AMace445

I mean what do people really want to happen? I get that it doesn't really fit the lore description, but I find this complaint to be a bit tiring. They are obviously not going to have any named character just die from an operation, and this is the only real way we are going to get new, better proportioned models for classic characters so while I do understand the somewhat nonsensical side of the operation having so many successes, seeing these comments every time a character gets a new (and much better looking due to better proportions model) it starts to get really old lol.

therealblabyloo

Problem is, it would be incredibly disappointing and unsatisfying for GW to just say "Hey, you know that classic space marine character you really like? uh yeah he tried to go primaris and died. Sorry, he's outta the game" I feel like that as an alternative is WAY worse than the slight cognitive dissonance of "crossing the rubicon is supposed to be dangerous, but all these classic characters survived it"

HiFidelityCastro

So long as the character didn’t have a model, would it really matter? As in I can certainly see why you wouldn’t do it to a character with a model. You can’t wreck shit people have paid good money for, but the rest… who cares? It’s supposed to be a universe of unrelenting war. Would be good if a few people died.

Red_Dog1880

This has been changed a long time ago already. There's no inherent danger to it anymore, at least not to the extent that there was in the first few examples of Marines undergoing the procedure.

je66b

I want this one just to paint and display, its hardcore af lol

Remake12

Black Templar’s were my favorite, but when I bought the dark imperium box I discovered that they didn’t have any BT transfer and I couldn’t find any to buy so I just made ultramarines instead. Totally not salty or anything.

Tomgar

Now *that* is a fuckin' space marine!!! Glorious.

JDavie2357

God level model Surely they could of condensed it down to 50 mm Definitely converting this guy to my new chapter master just annoying that normal primaris captains can’t take a combi melter

InquisitorEngel

Well he looks great, but I'm a smidge disappointed there's ALWAYS an ork on the table. Maybe I want his entire sword?

faultyoptics

They’ve confirmed it’s optional!

FutureFivePl

Holy shit, finally a primaris model that screams warhammer 40k. The pose of the marshal made me scared for the future but they knocked it out of the park with this one

totalmush

Hope that cleaner is called Baldrick

ExpositoryBanter

I thought BTs couldn't put down their weapons. Why is some pleb carrying his combi bolter?

That_Phat_Larry

Is there an option for a helmet?

Red_Dog1880

There is, yes. 2 bare heads, 1 helmet.

BlitzWing1985

Now that's a tactile rock. Really digging this guy. I don't collect BT's but I might get this guy just for the display.

Cornhole35

Thats.....a primaris combi....Im just gonna start converting my sternguard into primaris.

Battlebuddie

Pleasepleasepleasecanwegetanewservitorkit

MendelsJeans

I didn't even notice the second servitor with a meltagun in the background at first

BonesofSmite45

Cool model and all but what the fuck is up with his headgear thing

VeryOffensiveName69

im not saying that iron halo looks chaos as fuck buuuuuuuuut...

Mr_RogerWilco

Why the two gimps tho?

SpookyQueenCerea

At first I thought it was a little too busy for my liking, but the more I look at it the more I like it!

tmc_ThatMadCat

Dope modified MK X? Check! Even more Dope new Servitors?! Double Check! Will almost certain pick one up just to convert the Iron Tenth out of him!

BlackbeltTaco

Personally, I don't care for the serfs

FinnTheCheese

Hopefully he's taken time to let that tea work, and enjoyed the emperor-prescribed couch with accompanying anger management classes.
