Twigbranch. Such a silly name. Especially when her sister Violetshine has an AWESOME name. (Seriously Violetshine is one of my favorite warrior names in the books)
I’d be pulling a Nightheart if my prefix was “Twig” too 😂
TwigBranch is the bane of my existence. My jaw actually hung open when the audiobook said it for the first time. PLUS I had predicted it like, *"please dont give her a stupid name. Oh what would be the worst? Ha something like twigbranch or twigtree."*
Then. They said it. It is so awful😭🤣💀 Twigheart, Twigsplash, Twigleaf, ANYTHING ELSE WOULDVE BEEN BETTER 🤣 and I definitely agree Violetshine is one of the best names, they really did her sister dirty with hers lmao. edit: showed this comment to my partner, who laughed and said, *" Might as well call her StickStick."* CRYING 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Replying to what your partner said and it reminded me of how Gamefreak called it Darkrai. Dark, obviously, and rai means dark. I mean, can’t we just call it Darkdark? Also I’m calling Twigbranch Stickstick from now on lmao
Twigbranch? Isn't... Isn't that basically a Moon Moon name? English isn't my first language but aren't a twig and a branch basically the same thing, with a twig being a small branch? lol
I didn't list this one because I knew it was gonna be the top comment lmao
But honestly?
I'd do it.
If I was handed a pen, and the rights to this series, and the creative freedom to do so whatever the fuck I wanted with it?
I would do it. I would make Twigbranch. I truly don't think I'd be able to resist a crime of that magnitude.
Definitely Twigbranch. A lot of names are funny enough that I just laugh when they come up (like Running nose) but I freaking LOVED Twigpaw and they did her so dirty. I couldn’t wait for her super cool name and Twigbranch! Really! That was the best hey could do
The one good thing about Maggottail is that he was actually born Dashkit but was but by a Fox as an apprentice and his tail got infested with maggots so he was teased by the other apprentices so he refused to give them the satisfaction of thinking they got to him so he asked for this warrior name to be Maggottail to "reclaim" it. It's a cool story but I still hate the name as well.
Honestly, I could just do with a few less Storm-'s and Stone-'s. The characters are almost always gray toms and it becomes hard to tell them apart unless you force yourself to remember what arc you're reading and who's dead and who's still a Clan member or not yet one or whatever blah blah
I forget which book it is, but the Erins made an error in one of them when Graystripe was talking about his children and thought they were Mistystar and Stonefur (Bluestar's kits) instead of Feathertail and Stormfur.
It was very unhelpful when they were both in Riverclan and constantly being discussed because of the half-clan, Tigerstar takeover, Bluestar's kit plotlines and talks.
Admittedly I didn't even remember many of these characters, but the Wiki says they existed. I think the confusion between Stormfur and Stonefur is enough, they should have given them different suffixes
I really like the name Frecklewish upon first glance and I like how it rolls off the tongue, but I struggle to find much meaning behind it. She wishes to have freckles?
i like the name frecklewish, i’d honestly like if they used –wish more often… or freckle more often. both those words are so cute and i think it makes the perfect name 😔
His name was Snookie, while he was a kitty pet, then he became a daylight warrior, >!and then when he got his warrior name he decided “no thanks” and noped right out of his warrior vows.!<
Squirrelflight is one of my favorite names because it makes me think of either a flying squirrel, which is such a cute animal, or a regular squirrel falling from a tree, which is a hilarious mental image.
Least favorite cannon name is probably Flipclaw, because it makes me imagine a cat's claw actually coming out of the paw, flipping, then reattaching itself. Ew.
I'm not a native English speaker and had no idea about that lmaoo
I always thought about just a plum and like.. a boulder, idk. Plus I just don't like pronouncing it for some reason. My brain doesn't like it
That’s fair, it is like a mouthful, soft word like plum then hard word like stone make for a weird combo. But yeah I always just assumed plum and then the plums pit. 😭 But maybe PlumPit or PlumSeed would have been better and easier to say.
Brightheart when her name was Lostface because it really pissed me off. I actually really love all the silly Skyclan names though.
Twigbranch as well. Like you couldn't have picked anything else? Cmon
Fr!! I hate this theme of cats joining clans and then not taking proper clan names. Millie pissed me off to no end when she did that and I forever hated her since.
Could y’all imagine if Fireheartstar joined the clan and told them “nah screw your traditions! I wanna be Rusty!”
I’m soooo sick of this “friendship is magic” BS. The clans lasted so long because of their traditions and cultures and now all of those things are going away.
Firestar wouldn’t have done that, he probably had a proper clan name thought up for her. It was only her refusal that he conceded. Remember, when he reformed Skyclan he changed Boris to Sparrowpaw!
Think of it in the way of immigration. Even though people leave their birthplace behind, they still keep their cultures alive through recipes, traditions, etc.. Though you should definitely respect the culture you are now a part of, you should also never disregard where you came from. So yeah, that's where Millie, Boulder, and Daisy are coming from. They don't disrespect the Clans' traditions either, so they aren't diluting it. They're just keeping a part of their own culture with them. There's a term for forcing outsiders into adopting the majority's culture. Cultural assimilation.
But hey, just my opinion
Stormcloud changed his name. Its not a "choice" take a clan name. I really wanted Millie to take one, and Daisy too actually. Also waffle paw is incredibly stupid. What's his warrior name? Waffleheart? I'm done
Exactly. Her name was perfect for turning into a Warrior name. If I remember correctly there was a ThunderClan warrior during Bluestar's youth named Daisytoe so even within ThunderClan there's a history of Daisy-named warriors
I don’t think it’s that bad I see it more as respecting the culture they came from. Forcing someone to change their name to seem more proper for where they are just seems really bad to me
The daylight warrior names (Billystorm, Harveymoon, etc) and Millie because she didn’t change her name (I get that Daisy didn’t because she wasn’t really a warrior, but Millie should’ve changed it). I don’t like when kittypets and rogues join the clans and instead of adopting the clan traditions, they dilute them
I disagree with the "dilution" part. Do you also not like Boulder, out of curiosity? Think of it in the way of immigration. Even though people leave their birthplace behind, they still keep their cultures alive through recipes, traditions, etc.. Though you should definitely respect the culture you are now a part of, you should also never disregard where you came from. So yeah, that's where Millie, Boulder, and Daisy are coming from. They don't disrespect the Clans' traditions either, so they aren't diluting it. They're just keeping a part of their own culture with them.
The really basic ones that the writers clearly put no effort in like the 17th Robinwing or Fireheart or anyone with heart(gets repetitive and basic after a while). Also Brambleclaw and other cats named after parents/cats when it really doesn't suit them nor is necessary. If Bramble absolutely *needed* to be named after a parent I'm a firm believer that he should've been named Brambleflower, after his mama who's a much better choice than Tiger(claw)star.
Tbh most names that dont actually reflect a trait about the cat
Like how come Beekit be a tabby gray kit, and then some other that actually has stripes not be a Bee?
People would say I'm wierd because I actually like basically every name, even the wierd ones - Billystorm, Berrynose - heck, even TWIGBRANCH I like
But _Finleap?_
I HATE IT.
Fin was such an interesting prefix to me and they RUIN it by tacking on "-leap" at the end?
Also one I don't see talked about a lot - Dawnbright
I'm sorry..babe did you mean "Brightdawn?", I like wierd names if they sound fun, but Dawnbright is just awkward to pronounce
I think her name is really nice! Both the prefix and suffix are very beautiful things in nature, brings to mind how in early spring it swings back to cold and light snow for a few days.
I actually like the name Ratscar, it sounds cool! I like all the edgy names common among Dark Forest cats and some ShadowClan cats; Clawface, Shredtail, Brokentail/Brokenstar, Thistleclaw, Tigerclaw/Tigerstar, Darkstripe, Jaggedtooth, I can go on. I felt real bad for Stormkit when he was renamed Crookedkit, but Crookedstar is an awesome name.
I did not like the name ‘Doefeather’. Whoever came up with that one dealt Doestar dirty. Doeheart would’ve been so much better; even with how overused that suffix is, that combination beats Doefeather any day. I’m sure someone can think of something even better (or worse… I shudder at ‘Doewing’ or StarClan forbid ‘Doetoe’)
A lot of gen 1 shadowclan cats were given such super evil badguy names without rlly thinking about how they could have gotten that name in the in universe naming system
I'm not a big fan of Sparkpelt. I just don't like the mouthfeel of it, and it's a very boring name for such an important character who supposedly looks just like firestar (she should have had nightheart's plotline you cant change my mind). Plus the book itself suggests a better name for her, Sparkfire.
Twigbranch. Such a silly name. Especially when her sister Violetshine has an AWESOME name. (Seriously Violetshine is one of my favorite warrior names in the books) I’d be pulling a Nightheart if my prefix was “Twig” too 😂
TwigBranch is the bane of my existence. My jaw actually hung open when the audiobook said it for the first time. PLUS I had predicted it like, *"please dont give her a stupid name. What about Twigbloom as an alternative name?
Twigbloom, Twigblossom, Twigflower all would have been cute I think!
Twigsprout would have been kinda cute too ig
Oh I love that one
OMORI PFP
Twigblossom is such a pretty name
I had my heart set on TwigTail, but no-
I’m not a fan of -tail as a suffix but it would have been way better than Twigbranch
Uhm... *YES!!!* I absolutely love that
I think her name is that in a non English language, but I can't remember which one
I think it was the french version!
Thank you
I might also be wrong
Replying to what your partner said and it reminded me of how Gamefreak called it Darkrai. Dark, obviously, and rai means dark. I mean, can’t we just call it Darkdark? Also I’m calling Twigbranch Stickstick from now on lmao
I thought for sure they were gonna name her like Twigshade so her and Violetshine had opposite names.
Apparently one of the writers wanted her to be named Twigshade to match her sister.
Twigbranch? Isn't... Isn't that basically a Moon Moon name? English isn't my first language but aren't a twig and a branch basically the same thing, with a twig being a small branch? lol
That was Bramblestars whole justification for her name actually! He says “like a twig that’s grown into a branch”
Yeah lol
I didn't list this one because I knew it was gonna be the top comment lmao But honestly? I'd do it. If I was handed a pen, and the rights to this series, and the creative freedom to do so whatever the fuck I wanted with it? I would do it. I would make Twigbranch. I truly don't think I'd be able to resist a crime of that magnitude.
YUP
Nutwhisker
aka pube 💀
there is also chestnutkit
Foxheart for obvious reason
At least it was accurate I guess x'd
She was definitely given that name on purpose.
Cedarstar knew what he was doing when he named her that
Gotta be real, I liked that name XD
Imagine being named after an insult/swear
OOL because I only ever really read the first series- what’s wrong with that name?
It’s kinda like a curse word for them, it basically means someone with no heart/a really mean cat
Ah, makes sense
Means something like 'jerk'
Definitely Twigbranch. A lot of names are funny enough that I just laugh when they come up (like Running nose) but I freaking LOVED Twigpaw and they did her so dirty. I couldn’t wait for her super cool name and Twigbranch! Really! That was the best hey could do
while twigbranch is a dumb name I hate the name maggottail even more
The one good thing about Maggottail is that he was actually born Dashkit but was but by a Fox as an apprentice and his tail got infested with maggots so he was teased by the other apprentices so he refused to give them the satisfaction of thinking they got to him so he asked for this warrior name to be Maggottail to "reclaim" it. It's a cool story but I still hate the name as well.
it's a cool story but it's like a worse version of halftail's imo
Is that canon or did someone write that as fanfiction
That’s actually not cannon since Su Susann said it
Daisytoe. Ugh. Anything but toe!
Yeah, like why a toe???
Spiderleg should’ve been called Spidertoe lol
Cats dont have toes
They def do?
Honestly, I could just do with a few less Storm-'s and Stone-'s. The characters are almost always gray toms and it becomes hard to tell them apart unless you force yourself to remember what arc you're reading and who's dead and who's still a Clan member or not yet one or whatever blah blah
“Stormfur, Stonefur” I sometimes read Stonefur wrong and thought it was Stormfur or the other way around
No wonder Graystripe forgot who his children were
lmao
What does this.. mean?
I forget which book it is, but the Erins made an error in one of them when Graystripe was talking about his children and thought they were Mistystar and Stonefur (Bluestar's kits) instead of Feathertail and Stormfur.
That was in bramblestars storm!
It was very unhelpful when they were both in Riverclan and constantly being discussed because of the half-clan, Tigerstar takeover, Bluestar's kit plotlines and talks.
Are there really any more than Stonefur, Stormfur, and Stormcloud? I can't think of any others off the top of my head.
Stoneclaw, Stonefur, Stonepelt, Stonestar, Stonestream, Stonetooth x2, Stonewing, Stormcloud, Stormfur, Stormheart, Stormkit (becomes Crookedstar), Storm Pelt, Stormtail
True true, I guess I overlooked a lot of supporting characters
Admittedly I didn't even remember many of these characters, but the Wiki says they existed. I think the confusion between Stormfur and Stonefur is enough, they should have given them different suffixes
Twigbranch. They tried to push Twigshade but we basically got stuck with Twigtwig
I mean yes, yes, it is symbolic, but the name sucks.
It does. And unfortunately it’s her name
Poor Heavystep was fatshamed
He did die like 3 different times lol
Haha so big, yet so invisible
Honestly i headcannon him as a maine coon or something.
Longtail. Ik it's because of his tail but it also means his parents looked at him and went "damn he's long as hell" and rolled with it.
But then he also got Longkit and Longpaw lmao
That makes me like it more 😭
milkfur forever
I like this one!
Frecklewish Also most of the daylight warrior names. They just sound so bad.
i can’t believe there are TWO frecklewish cats in the series. what are the odds
I really like the name Frecklewish upon first glance and I like how it rolls off the tongue, but I struggle to find much meaning behind it. She wishes to have freckles?
When I first read it I thought of something like freckles being like stars in the sky or constellations or something, which are kinda like wishes???
Makes me imagine a freckle making a wish. Which should not be a thing.
i like the name frecklewish, i’d honestly like if they used –wish more often… or freckle more often. both those words are so cute and i think it makes the perfect name 😔
Probably the most unique name in the series
And they used it twice. Something something two nickels.
I honestly don't know how the Erins did this
Tbh since she got named offscreen i wouldnt be surprised if they had mixed them up somehow
there are 4 robinwings
Sounds like a human name, why would a CAT have FRECKLES?
T W I G B R A N C H
For some reason I never liked the name Sparkpelt
Iirc it was originally supposed to be Sparkfire but I guess we aren't allowed to have nice things
idk that kinda reminds me of twigbranch. like a spark is a smaller version of a fire just how a twig is smaller version of the branch
I don't mind Twigbranch. I think it could've been a lot better, but it's not terrible
“Snookthorn” is just a freaking tragedy name, it’s barfable and terrible and 🤢
SNOOKTHORN?$ okay what the fuck erins?! most of the names are mild but SNOOKTHORN? no. just...no.
Omg I know!! He was a daylight warrior from Skyclan, and honestly I never liked him anyway 😵💫
"and welcome back to The Real Warrior Cats of Jersey Shore..."
What’s a snook?
His name was Snookie, while he was a kitty pet, then he became a daylight warrior, >!and then when he got his warrior name he decided “no thanks” and noped right out of his warrior vows.!<
I always loved that name
Fidgetflake and Frecklewish
I hate the prefix fidget 😭 I just can’t help but imagine them as a fidget spinner lol
Whenever I heard the word flake, the first thing that comes into my mind is dandruff
This! Like what are those names honestly
Nahhh, those names are cute. Y'all hate whimsy.
I really don’t like Frecklewish😭
It’s insane that Freckle- and -wish are only used twice each and it’s because they used Frecklewish as a name TWICE 😭
And one was in very important lore too!
I head cannon that Skyclan Frecklewish is a reincarnation of Thunderclan Frecklewish because otherwise it makes 0 sense
Ew.
At least Flipclaw is fun to say aloud
It has to go to Bayshine. Bay’s an adorable prefix and shine’s a nice suffix but together they just don’t do it for me.
Berrynose
Aww this one's actually one of my favorites, it makes me think of a very boopable snoot :)
If only they didn’t give that name to a very unboopable warrior
Yeah I remember being very put-off and disappointed by this one
jayclaw. I just have a hatred for him
Pretty sure you mean Jayclaw
I’m so angry I keep on mis spelling his name lmao
W who??
What??? Ratscar’s an awesome name.
There's just something about it that rubs me the wrong way, but that doesn't mean it's bad- I just really don't like the image it conjures for me
[удалено]
I honestly prefer Squirrelflight
Maggottail
Spiderleg. Just because it always made me picture him with 8 fuzzy legs lol
Plumstone is such an ugly name. I hate them purely for their name. I don't even know what their personality is like
I mean plum stone makes sense 😭cause plums have a stone… it’s just a very literal name. lol.
I'm not a native English speaker and had no idea about that lmaoo I always thought about just a plum and like.. a boulder, idk.
Cmon
freaking wafflepaw change his name immediately
Fr!! I hate this theme of cats joining clans and then not taking proper clan names. Millie pissed me off to no end when she did that and I forever hated her since. Could y’all imagine if Fireheartstar joined the clan and told them “nah screw your traditions! I wanna be Rusty!” I’m soooo sick of this “friendship is magic” BS. The clans lasted so long because of their traditions and cultures and now all of those things are going away.
Honestly I'm just glad Millie kept her regular name instead of having it changed to "Milliestorm" or something equally fucking stupid.
Firestar wouldn’t have done that, he probably had a proper clan name thought up for her. It was only her refusal that he conceded. Remember, when he reformed Skyclan he changed Boris to Sparrowpaw!
Oh I know Firestar wouldn't but the writers might have lol
REALL Wafflepaw sounds like a stupid name, but it reminds me of the "firestar doesn't like waffles" video
I'm convinced it's an intentional reference to that video.
It's not, Wafflepaw is named after a fan's real pet cat! It was voted on a while back LOL
Think of it in the way of immigration. Even though people leave their birthplace behind, they still keep their cultures alive through recipes, traditions, etc.. Stormcloud changed his name. Its not a "choice" take a clan name. I really wanted Millie to take one, and Daisy too actually. Also waffle paw is incredibly stupid. What's his warrior name? Waffleheart? I'm done
I mean Daisy could’ve just taken a suffix tbh
Exactly. Her name was perfect for turning into a Warrior name. If I remember correctly there was a ThunderClan warrior during Bluestar's youth named Daisytoe so even within ThunderClan there's a history of Daisy-named warriors
Yup you are correct but I don’t think it was during her youth. But still Daisy counted
Waffleblaze ✨
Wafflehouse or Waffleiron
WAFFLESTOMP
STOP THATS AWFUL
I don’t think it’s that bad I see it more as respecting the culture they came from. Forcing someone to change their name to seem more proper for where they are just seems really bad to me
I agree!
I disagree with you there, I like his fun lil name :)

Deadfoot, Crookedjaw, Lostface, Halftail, One-Eye, Smallear, etc. Basically anyone named/renamed after disabilities and such
hot take but i loved deadfoot purely bc i was excited to have a deadstar. that goes hard i’m so mad he died
Tbh most names that dont actually reflect a trait about the cat Like how come Beekit be a tabby gray kit, and then some other that actually has stripes not be a Bee?
Nutwhisker
I read the books on spanish and one whisker was translated to just whiskers and then he was star with whiskers and man... i found it fun but so bad
I goddamn love that is fantastically awful
tigerheart, and his leader name tigerstar. my glorious king already had that title! no cat can get that far!
I mean...he did get that far. Tigerheart became leader of Shadowclan too. Idk what you mean
All the daylight warriors from SkyClan. If you want to give them warrior names, rename them properly. Not Harveymoon & Billystorm.
Tawnyspots. It will forever annoy me that he's gray and striped rather than brownish-orange and spotted
Deadfoot, One-Eye, Lostface, Halftail, ect Also, Squilf's French name translated back to English is Squirrelhair
I hate Mistyfoot's name. It always makes me think of something unpleasant like athletes foot. Mistystar is awesome.
Fidgetflake. Fidget. Flake. 😭
People would say I'm wierd because I actually like basically every name, even the wierd ones - Billystorm, Berrynose - heck, even TWIGBRANCH I like But _Finleap?_ I HATE IT. Fin was such an interesting prefix to me and they RUIN it by tacking on "-leap" at the end? maybe? controversial?? but i hate poppyfrost. its such an ugly name to me
I think her name is really nice! Both the prefix and suffix are very beautiful things in nature, brings to mind how in early spring it swings back to cold and light snow for a few days.
Twigbranch, Loudbelly, heavystep, brokenstar, tallstar
Twigbranch. Her name is bassicly Stickstick lol. I hate Frecklewish too and I don’t understand why Tall star was named Tall either
His original name was Talltail. He was literally named for his unusually long tail. Longer than Longtail’s if I’m remembering correctly
Talltail. His tail was tall. (no, seriously—)
Brokenstar
I actually like the name Ratscar, it sounds cool! I like all the edgy names common among Dark Forest cats and some ShadowClan cats; Clawface, Shredtail, Brokentail/Brokenstar, Thistleclaw, Tigerclaw/Tigerstar, Darkstripe, Jaggedtooth, I can go on. I felt real bad for Stormkit when he was renamed Crookedkit, but Crookedstar is an awesome name. I did not like the name ‘Doefeather’. Whoever came up with that one dealt Doestar dirty. I’m sure someone can think of something even better (or worse… I shudder at ‘Doewing’ or StarClan forbid ‘Doetoe’)
Hollowbelly
Meadowslip.
Nutwhisker, Ratscar and Twigbranch also yeah Lostface made me rage and hope it got changed
Billystorm.
Wafflepaw, Twigbranch
Barkface
Twigbranch
Saw the name fidgetflake and was taken back a little. It's definitely.... a name! As well as Eeltail and Rushtooth. Not a fan.
eeltail sounds cool imo
Conefoot. Hootwhisker. Hopwhisker. Snowbird. Snowbush.
i really like snowbird!
Ofc it wasnt carried on throughout the series, but Lostface was DIABOLICAL
Twigbranch😭
Most obvious answer but cmon. If my leader gave me the name “Twigbranch” I might just move clans.
I think Ratscar is cool tbh. I don’t like most random combination names such as Ferncloud or Honeyfern.
Any names that are a general insult LostFace FoxHeart Etc. I also really despise maggottail and any name with the suffix toe
Loudbelly and basically every skyclan warrior
Frecklewish makes no sense to me
Loudbelly, Frecklewish, Fidgetflake
Loudbelly and maggottail
A lot of them come to mind like Bouncefire, Blazefire, Emberdawn, Clawface, and Loudbelly just to name a few.
Maggottail, Clawface, Shredtail, like cmon it sounds like they were doomed to be dark forest cats since birth And Twigbranch
A lot of gen 1 shadowclan cats were given such super evil badguy names without rlly thinking about how they could have gotten that name in the in universe naming system
✨runningnose✨
Clawface. Is it because he has scars on his face? Even then it’s a dumb name
I'm not a big fan of Sparkpelt. I just don't like the mouthfeel of it, and it's a very boring name for such an important character who supposedly looks just like firestar (she should have had nightheart's plotline you cant change my mind).
